2681 | FATHER fixation? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 18747
Casiv, I neglected to mention in my last thread, the old mind isn't working as well as it use too, that there is the logic view point to look at. Just taking John 3:16 in to account, if God wasn't going to be satisfied with Jesus Christ, why would He have sent Him in the first place? CDBJ
2682 | FATHER fixation? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 18744
Try I John 5:10-13 I have eternal life right here and now and I know it, because God Himself has given me the down payment of His Spirit. Only the ones that have received this from God know it. This was not revealed to me by any man. If this is not a reality to some, I would suggests that they seek God with their whole heart, in His Word to find it out, because if they don't they will be eternally lost. All this came about by putting all my faith and trust in Jesus Christ and what He did for me on the cross. That was the purpose of the book of John, John 20:31 But these things have been written so that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name. If this wasn't satisfactory to God, Jesus would still be in the grave, but He is not, He is alive and He is seated at the right hand of God the Father and He is the only one that rose from the dead, and is alive for evermore; so this justifies my faith in Him!!! Locusts are known for harming plant life, not humans, this is pointed out to us by, words of accommodation, the command, do not harm the (CHORTOS) i.e. vegetation to show that these are a special kind of locusts that afflict only those that don't have the seal of God on their foreheads. These are not your average run of the mill locusts.

Charis, I don't understand the part of your comment (I well understand that all things were created by God the Father,) Where does that leave us with Col. 1:13-20 where all things were created by the Son not the Father? CDBJ

2691 | Where in the Bible do they get the word | 2 Thessalonians | CDBJ | 18620
The word rapture came down to us from a translation called the Vulgate. It is not a word that is in our English translations. The concept of the rapture is discussed in many different words; we just grouped all of them together and coined the word rapture, as a catchall word to cover them all. The closest that the word rapture comes to in the Greek language of the New Testament, is the word EPISUNAGOGE, it is a compound word EPI, meaning out and SUNAGOGE, a gathering, as an assemble. The word synagogue as used by the Jews is actually a derivative from the later, as a gathering of people. Paul expresses this in II Thessalonians 2:1 where he says: Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, |

Paul expresses this in II Thessalonians 2:1 where he says: Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, Now on the subject of the Lord coming as a thief: the Bible says that He will only come as a thief to the unbeliever not the believers. Notice the wording in I Thess. 5:1-5 There are two groups mentioned in these verses,(we and you) the believers, and (they and them) the unbelievers. I Thess. 5:1-5 Now as to the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you. For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. While they are saying, "Peace and safety!" then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief; for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness; The Lord is going to rapture His own out of here and then pour out sudden destruction on those that are saying peace and safety; just like he did in the days of Noah and in the days of Lot! All of this is going to happen on the same day, the Lord will lift up His own and then, BOOM, down comes His wrath on those that are left. |

2693 | RAPTURE! FACT OR FICTION | 1 Cor 15:51 | CDBJ | 18519
Anyone who says that the rapture, as we call it, will not happen is not a realistic. The law of probability is so far against them that they are not even in the same ballpark. The fulfillment of prophecy would dictate that the chances of the rapture not occurring just as it described in Scripture is about thirty three trillion to one. The person who claims that it won't happen must be a real gambler, or he just plain doesn't know how to interpret Scripture, which is probably the case. In understanding the Bible for what it says there are different methods employed; the following are some examples that I found that might help. The study and use of methods and principles of biblical interpretation. (A) Face Value The practice of taking what is read (or heard) at "face value", in its most natural, normal, and customary sense. The objective of this method is to discover what the original author intended in his writing and make current application based on such discovery. Allowance is made for symbolism and figures of speech. (B) Allegorical The practice of placing a subjective/spiritual meaning to what is written (or said). This method seeks to apply a meaning that is foreign to the intent of the original author. (C) Principles of Five principles in a face value method of studying Biblical literature, especially prophetic are: (1) scripture is to be taken in its most natural, normal and customary sense, allowing for obvious symbolism and figures of speech, (2) proper understanding requires contextual consideration, (3) Scripture is to be harmonized with Scripture that touches on a common subject, (4) contradictions are unacceptable and are to be resolved by studying and harmonizing all applicable passages, and (5) recognize that many prophetic passages in Scripture have near/far implications and applications. Hermeneutic Hermeneutic is the method of interpretation that one uses to study something written or spoken; it is how one understands the Scriptures. To have validity, one's hermeneutic must be consistent and without contradiction and must never be governed by a theological predisposition or school of thought. In other words, if hermeneutic is controlled by theology then the Bible can be twisted to say whatever that theology would have it say. By employing a face value method of interpretation, the reader of Scripture attempts to discover the normal, natural, customary sense of the text as it was intended by the Author/author (God/human) at the time that it was written. When a consistent hermeneutic is applied, the meaning of Scripture can be understood. Then, as A.W. Tozer put it, "When you find the truth of Scripture, that truth always stands in judgment of you; you never stand in judgment of it." |

2694 | Absolutely perfect? | Deut 32:22 | CDBJ | 18481
Lanny, are you saying that you have no sin? Give I JOHN 1:8 a good hard look before you answer this. If your answer is yes, why did God have John pen verse 1:9? You are a new creation in Christ if you trust in Jesus you receive a new nature but the old one is still in existence till the day you die physically. The apostle Paul didn't even have a walk that was sinless, are you saying in effect that you are doing better then the apostle Paul, I am just curious
2695 | Is sex between singles a sin? | 1 Corinthians | CDBJ | 18466
If you want to use the Bible as the text to determine weather or not this sex is right or wrong and you say that the ten commandments doesn't spell it out clear enough for you, try Acts 15: 19-29 it spells it out pretty clear; there are a lot of people who have suffered with this, you are not alone. Be strong in the Lord and the power of His might.
2696 | Body/soul/spirit? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 18158
The spirit is what died when Adam ate of the forbidden fruit. It is only by means of the spirit that a person can have fellowship with God. To simplify it, the human spirit is like a receiver to absorb and understand God's signals or message to us, and visa versa. Just like a television set receives the signals that are constantly going through your house, it makes the signals real to you with a picture and sound. If you would try to tell a person who knows nothing about television or has never seen television or heard a radio, that there are signal passing through your house and you tell them how much you are enjoying them, they would think it was foolishness and that you must have a screw loose or something. Thus we have I Cor. 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but (conjunction of contrast) unto us which are saved it (the cross where Jesus paid the price required) is the power of God. It is interesting to note, that the word for death, in the Greek language is THANATOS, it actually means separation. It does not mean that consciousness stops. The soul will live on forever, once it is born, it is the real you. Either your soul will live with God, in eternal bless because you have received His gift of eternal life, that His Son Jesus paid for; or it will live in a place of eternal torment for rejecting God's free gift. At any rate the only thing that can send a person to the lake of fire, is the sin of rejecting Jesus Christ as their savior. Like the song says, Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe. CDBJ |

2699 | Unbaptized children | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 18116
It is interesting to note in Matt. 3:11,12, that John the Baptist said I use water (just a ritual) but, in speaking of Jesus, He will baptize with the Holy Spirit and with fire (the real thing). It will be one or the other. A person will receive the unifying baptism of God's Spirit, for eternal bliss, or they will receive his baptism of fire, for eternal punishment. Verse 12 confirms the fact of whom the baptisms are for, the Holy Spirit for believers i.e. the wheat: or the baptism of fire for the unbelievers i.e. the chaff. There are two types of baptism, wet ones and dry ones. The wet ones are just ritual, but the dry ones are real! This is the message that John was trying to put across. Only a true believer can practice the ritual and cause it to mean anything. That is why in Matt. 3:8 that John said bring forth fruits meet for repentance. (because if you don't it won't mean anything) Repentance and faith are two sides of the same coin. CDBJ |
