2601 | What does Matthew 24: 28 mean? | Matt 24:28 | CDBJ | 23790
Greetings in the Name of the LORD JESUS CHRIST; Your mention of the temple in New Delhi sounds impressive but I have been under the impression that God's Spirit dwelt in different temple. 1 Cor. 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? As far as being impressed, the only thing that has really impressed me, to a supernatural extent, in the last sixth some years has been a personal relationship with the risen living Lord, Jesus Christ. Having a relationship with Him has been so exciting that unless you have experienced it you wouldn't even have a frame of reference for what I'm talking about. Those that haven't had God communicate with them through his spirit don't know what they are missing. The problem is no one can get even close to God, except through Jesus to find out . All that try another way are just working them selves up into a frenzy, through religious ritual and they don't even know what a true relationship with God is! John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. These might just be words to some but I can personally tell you from my experience that it is truth, and faith in Jesus works! He did die over two thousand years ago but He sure is alive today and He is willing to reveal Himself to all those that will trust in Him. CDBJ |

The problem is that those that aren't born of the Spirit don't know that they are not. They don't miss something that they have never had before! They sure don't know what they are missing!! |

2603 | How can Christ return be imminent? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 22228
I would suggest reading the Sign first and to be as those in Berea, which I am sure that you are, as with most that love to study God's Word. Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. |

2604 | what was taken from the angel? | Job 20:4 | CDBJ | 22151
Rev. says it is a book. Rev. 10:9-10 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey. 10And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter. |

2605 | 3 things that are a must for ministers | Titus 1:7 | CDBJ | 22149
There are many who say that they are called of God to be a minister but don't you think that number one should be that they should be born again of the Spirit? That would knock out more then half of them right off the bat!!!
2606 | Rejoice in Suffering! | 1 Pet 1:6 | CDBJ | 22009
This is a great post Tim! I would like to add to it if I may. Some times we suffer without the understanding of why. It seems so out of place when we see such disasters taking place with in our lives. The loss of loved ones as well as other tragic events. We have to stop and realize that God's object with us is conformation. Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son,. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. One of our big problems is that we can't see the big picture as God does. His ways are above our ways. Romans 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! Now knowing that He has only the best for us, and that is to make us like His son Jesus, all that we suffer is within the scope of God's plan. There are no surprises to God. When something bad happens to us God doesn't say WOW, I didn't know that was going to happen! We just have to trust Him and all that He does for us, even though not all things are good. They are still within the scope of God's design and He culminates even the bad thing, to work together for the overall good. Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. The word good is from the Greek (AGATHOS) and it means good of an intrinsic value. It is the same as gold. All the shapes that gold can be formed into are not good but it still worth X amount of dollars per ounce when melted down. The suffering that we go through in life is not good from our viewpoint, but being able to understand it is the key. This is found in the first part of Rom. 8:28 and (we Know) (OIDAMEN) this is in the indicative mood, perfect tense, active voice, 1st person plu. Which says in effect, the indicative mood, is the mood of reality or certainty. The perfect tense, is completed action with finished results in the present time. Active voice, means that the subjects produces the action. I.e. We have to know with out a shadow of doubt that God is still controlling things in our lives and have complete trust in the results even though it doesn't look good to us. It must be settled in our minds! This trust must be the same as the trust that we place in the Lord for our salvation. For we walk by faith not by sight and the path isn't always smooth; there are rocks and ditches that cause problems. Paul tells us that we are to be thankful for all things. 1 Thes. 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. I hope that I haven't confused anyone with this. CDBJ |

2607 | how do you encourage heartbroken | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 21995
Yes, I am in full agreement with that. We never know what God might use to start a person thinking in the right direction. Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. |

2608 | Was Jesus a captive? | 1 Pet 3:19 | CDBJ | 21977
Jesus did have a spirit; He commended it to the Father. The word commended is a verb indicative, present, middle 1st person singular of the word paratathemai. The indicative mood is the mood of reality or certainty; the present tense is generally continues action at present time, in the middle voice the subject Jesus participates in the result of the action. He was committing the guarding of His spirit to the father for safekeeping. When God told Adam that he was going to die the very day that he would eat of forbidden fruit, what died? He was body, soul and spirit from the beginning. What did Jesus mean when He said that a man must be born again? John 3:5-9 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. 9Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? It appears that I got along for twenty seven years with out a my spirit being connected to God; But I had no communication in any of my earlier years. |

I think that there is something that is being missed when one considers the word death in the Bible. The Greek language of the New Testament uses the word (THANATOS) and a good explanation for thanatos, would be separation. Psychical thanatos meant that your soul separated form your body. Spiritual death meant that you are separated from God. It doesn't mean that there is no more existence, as is commonly the case in the understanding of the English language. Quite the contrary is true; everyone is going to live forever in one place or the other and be conscious that they are there. Luke 16:19-31 The individual that Jesus was speaking of was in all probability a real person, as Christ never used a proper noun in His parables. It is interesting to note the senses that were functioning in this individual, whose body was gone. The only one not mentioned was the sense of smell. Luke 16:19-31 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. 27Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: 28For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. 31And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. I don't know if this helps but it will give something to think about. CDBJ |

Apology accepted; I have done the same thing myself. I know how easy it is sometimes for me to let my old sin nature take over. When the Bible talks about the tongue, James 3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. There are times when I have everything but the fangs. I have had to use I John 1:9 for this problem several times. I forgive you; just tell the Lord then get up and as Paul said forgetting those thing that are behind I press on. In love, CDBJ |

Dear JMR, it wasn't my intention to pit one denomination against the other. I didn't even mention either one in my post. Let me see if I am hearing you right. Are you telling me that because my wife was a practicing Catholic and I was a Protestant, that we were both automatically born again Christians? I can assure you that we were both very much of the two groups mentioned and neither one of us was a Christian, as the Bible describes a Christian. Do you mind if I ask you a question, what is a Christian by your definition and if you use the word believe in your answer, could you pamper me a little bit, by explaining the word believe? This righteousness that you mentioned, what do I have to do to get it? I didn't mean to send anyone off the edge by quoting Scripture; if I struck a nerve I am sorry! A lot of people practice the ritual of religion but they don't have the reality of a personal relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ. There are thousand of people in churches in this great country of ours that don't have a clue where they would go tomorrow if they would die. They hope that they would go to heaven but they are not sure. The Christians of the Bible were sure where they were going, and why they were going there. Sitting in a church every week doesn't make one a Christian anymore then sitting in a garage would make them an automobile! If what I am saying doesn't make sense to you, I pray that you will ask a lot of questions until it does and then you will know exactly what my point was in the post. In love, CDBJ
2612 | Marriage to a Catholic? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 21732
Are both members that are getting married born again Christians? If one is and the other isn't, the Word of God commands that they not be yoked together. 2 Cor. 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? If both are unbelievers or both are believers, they can even be married by a justice of the peace if the so desire. |

2613 | Wrong to Wear a Cross Necklace? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 21677
My best friend's son whom I have been witnessing to, and seems to be somewhat receptive, rode a motorcycle over to our local gun club the other day. First you must realize that his new wife, of one year, is a Christian. She has contacted me about explaining the way of salvation to her husband. I didn't even know that she was a believer until she called my wife one morning. The way that I found out was that I had given her husband a paper that I had written on the subject of salvation; he read it and laid it down where she found it and called our house the next day all excited about what I had given her husband. Well to make a long story short, I thought that my friend's son was starting to understand what it meant to completely trust in Jesus and commit his life to Christ keeping, until he rode in to the club on his motorcycle with a big Saint somebody metal on his jacket. When I ask him what it was for, acting as though I didn't know, he said that it was to keep him safe while riding his bike. To me it was like a miniature of what Paul must have experienced, Galatians 4:11 I fear for you, that perhaps I have labored over you in vain. (NASB) I don't know if you have ever heard the story about the time when a drunk staggered up to D.L. Moody and said, hay, I'm one of your converts!! Moody looked at him and said, yes you can surely tell that you are one of mine all right; you sure don't look like one of the Lord's! My primary goal, whenever I meet someone, is to determine if they are a born again Christian. If they are, it starts a time of fellowship, if they aren't; my main object is to find the opportunity and a good time to explain the way of salvation to them without being obnoxious. One must be very cautious that they don't muddy up the water. I have meet a lot of believers that love the Lord and they are very bold, to the point that they are a turn off. Jesus always asks a lot of questions and He never forced Himself on anyone. Sometimes I brake out in a cold sweet when witnessing to someone for fear that I will mess up. The last thing I want to do is to turn someone off about the Lord! I try to be ready to answer everyone who asks me for a reason for the hope that I have in Christ. Well Hank, (now you know the rest of the story.) CDBJ |

Well since I don't know tray or for what reason it is being worn it makes a big difference. I have run into all kinds and I say this with all due respect. If I say sure that would be nice and it would look nice on them. They might come back and say that the bigger the better for spirit protection. And if it is pure silver it can ward off almost anything. After you experience a few of these, one has a tendency to get the facts before sticking his neck and giving a quote from the Bible. With out elaborating and naming the group that puts a lot of faith in a peace of blessed hand made metal, do you get the picture? I know bunches from my past!! I hope this clears it up, CDBJ
2615 | how do you encourage heartbroken | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 21618
The one who is to be encouraged, are they a believer in Jesus Christ? If the one that will receive this Biblical help isn't a believer, then anything that you could give them from the Bible, other then the gospel really wouldn't do them any good anyway, sad but true. Please inform and we will go from there. CDBJ
2616 | Can a spirit inform you of something? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 21614
What do you mean (in spirit) and do you mean that they are predicting the future or what; are they quoting Scripture? You will have to be a little more specific on your question. If you mean gossip that is another story. Spell it out as best you can in order to get the best answer but be careful.

2619 | Who are the Gog and Magog? | Rev 20:8 | CDBJ | 21457
EdB; I liked your answer, that is a classic and one that I will have to remember. A lot of believers don't realize that God has promised us eternal life and it starts the moment that we believe in Jesus Christ and trust Him for our salvation. God didn't promise us a bed of roses down here but He does promise that we wouldn't be alone in out struggle through psychical life. Fox's Book of Martyrs sure makes this clear, and I think the worst is yet to come. There are actually more martyrs in this day and age then were in the days mentioned in the Book of Martyrs, according to statistics. Paul explains something to us in 2 Thes. 1:4-10 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure: 5Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer: 6Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; 7And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; 10When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. |

2620 | Who are the Gog and Magog? | Rev 20:8 | CDBJ | 21374
EdB greetings; It just hit me, that you said lookup. I was just thinking, how many times have believers heard this and even used it, I myself being one. Yet I wonder how many actually realize what will transpire before we are actually told to look up, as in Luke 21:28? I think that we often use this as Christian jargon, at least I have, but the context of this saying is very tragic to say the least. If all would read from Luke 21:5-36, as I did, and consider the timing of this often quoted verse it would be an eye opener. Thanks for the comment, it has started me thinking. CDBJ
