261 | Ananias and Sapphira paid for their sin | Acts 5:9 | Val | 213060
Dear Keliy, since God is the only one who sees the heart, He is the only one who knows the true condition of the soul. He is a different judge that you or I for we would fall far short. That is why when a person tells you they are saved that is what we go on. We might judge their life and say they are not by their lifestyle but again it is God who is the judge not us so we are to respect their confession. They might look at us and say we are not good enough. How hurting that would be. We must admit that different people are at different places in their walk with the Lord. I don't know what you mean by apologetic answer? I do know the details I gave you about doing a word study on discipline or chastening would help. I don't know what your post about forgiveness means? As I said the verses are about sin not salvation. And I do know that just because you fall into sin and die, it does not mean you are not saved, it just means you die out of fellowship with the Lord. I believe we are saved by grace alone in the One who gave His life for me, Yeshua, Jesus, and by the way wasn't Rick Warren's prayer honoring Him superb. Anywho thanks for the discussion. Good day, Val
262 | Ananias and Sapphira paid for their sin | Acts 5:9 | Val | 213058
Dear Keliy, first off it doesn't address the salvation of Ananias and Sapphria. Since they are in the early church I presume they are christians. Concerning their sin Peter in some way by the spirit was shown Ananias and Sapphria's deceptiveness and pronounced their judgment. The question raised is were they covered by the blood and another question raised is if they were then they would not have been judged. First off as to salvation, if they were saved, they were covered by the blood. The second question is the one I believe where I have a different conclusion that the one your questioner arrived at. For whatever reason God took Ananias and Sapphria on home. A word study done on the word "discipline" would be helpful. In my studies I have learned that when a believer falls into sin the Lord will discipline His child just as a parent disciplines his children. Since we all still sin the Lord's discipline is at work all the time. If a person is not disciplined by the Lord, he is not His child. Sometimes if a wayward child does not accept the discipline and change their ways the Lord has the option of taking them on home if He choses. So in the end, sin is very serious both for the believer and the unbeliever. The book of James describes sin and the end result being death. For Anainas and Sappharia this death occured immediately. Sincerely, Val |

263 | What is sin? How is sin commited? | Rom 14:23 | Val | 212960
Dear Kcab: How one views scripture provides the answer. You have already said things contrary to the clear teaching of scripture in your other posts. On this forum we believe the bible to be the highest form of authority. Therein lies the difference between your beliefs and those who hold to scripture not the dictionary, not denominations. All these things are lined up with scripture not vice versa. We believe God's word. It is a living word. It is inerrant. The bible is true and all other books are wrong if they oppose the bible. Doc has given you the defination and study of sin. You want to be a teacher. You are not qualified. You do not believe the bible so how can you teach others what you do not even believe yourself.

Some people may download copyrighted material from the internet. Is this stealing? What would you tell people of faith who do this? I am not talking about on this website. It has become an issue on another site I use. It would be like making a copy of a book and supplying access to it for free while the author's site sells the material. What does the bible have to say about this? Please reference verses. Thank you, Val

Dear Ema, I am so sorry for your circumstances. Within christendom there is an on going debate on this topic. Please know that we cannot offer advice as we are not equipped to provide you that type involvement. I pray that God grants you another avenue to help and support you. There are many good christian counseling services. Perhaps checking at your local churches you might find one. Seek the Lord in this matter. Blessings - Val

Psalms 51: 1 Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; According to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity And cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I know my transgressions, And my sin is ever before me. 4 Against You, You only, I have sinned And done what is evil in Your sight, So that You are justified when You speak And blameless when You judge. 5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me. 6 Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being, And in the hidden part You will make me know wisdom. 7 Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8 Make me to hear joy and gladness, Let the bones which You have broken rejoice. 9 Hide Your face from my sins And blot out all my iniquities. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation And sustain me with a willing spirit. 13 Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners will be converted to You. 14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation; Then my tongue will joyfully sing of Your righteousness. 15 O Lord, open my lips, That my mouth may declare Your praise. 16 For You do not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I would give it; You are not pleased with burnt offering. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise. 18 By Your favor do good to Zion; Build the walls of Jerusalem. 19 Then You will delight in righteous sacrifices, In burnt offering and whole burnt offering; Then young bulls will be offered on Your altar. Dear Azure, Adding to the discussion of worship, I see from David’s prayer the relationship he had with the Lord. In looking for what the Lord desires of us I see from verse 6 the Lord desires truth. I believe from this we can say that we can hide nothing from God. If we are not truthful with God and ourselves, facing our sins, bringing them to the Lord to cleanse us there is no worship for us. Only when we deal with our sins does true worship begin. We can go through the motions giving an outward appearance of worship; example, praying, singing, preaching, but if the heart is not right with God, He is not pleased, see verse 16. When the heart is right, verse 17, then the outward worship; i.e., praying, singing, preaching is pleasing to Him, verse 19. In regards to the worship in heaven, we know that we will be in our glorified bodies. There is no sin in heaven. Worship is something we do everyday of our lives. Every hour, every minute we are either pleasing to God and honoring Him with the sacrifice of our lives or we are displeasing to Him and need to bring those sins to Him to cleanse us. True believers are led by the Holy Spirit who brings these things to mind as we walk in the Spirit. Those who have yet to surrender their lives to Christ, the Holy Spirit convicts them of sin. They have an opportunity to surrender their lives to Him. If they continue in their unbelief there is no worship for them. They may go through the externals but the internal, the heart, that part which God desires, if it is not pleasing to God, all externals will not be pleasing. These are my thoughts. Thank you for your warm blessing, Azure. May our Lord richly bless you today and in the coming year. – Sister Val |

273 | Torn veil of Mat 15.38 the literal veil? | Matthew | Val | 212693
The second coming should also be taken as literal: The Second Coming of Christ – This verse speaks to a literal appearing of Christ: Hebrews 9:27-28 “just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time,, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.” This verse speaks to a literal blessing of Israel: Deuteronomy 30:3 “Then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you and gather you again from all the nations where he scattered you”. This verse speaks to the ultimate spiritual revival of Israel: Deuteronomy 30:6 “Moreover the LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, so that you may live.” This verse speaks to judgment on her enemies: Deuteronomy 30:7 "The LORD your God will inflict all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, who persecuted you.” This verse speaks to her exaltation and prosperity – 30:9 "Then the LORD your God will prosper you abundantly in all the work of your hand, in the offspring of your body] and in the offspring of your cattle and in the produce of your ground, for the LORD will again rejoice over you for good, just as He rejoiced over your fathers;” These verses speak to Israel’s failure to respond to God’s calling resulted in blessing on the Gentiles in the present age – Romans 11:11 “I say then, they did not stumble so as to fall, did they? May it never be! But by their transgression salvation has come to the Gentiles, to make them jealous. 12- Now if their transgression is riches for the world and their failure is riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their fulfillment be! 13-But I am speaking to you who are Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle of Gentiles, I magnify my ministry, 14- if somehow I might move to jealousy my fellow countrymen and save some of them.15- For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? 16 - If the first piece of dough is holy, the lump is also; and if the root is holy, the branches are too.” These verses speak to the grafting in of the gentiles – Romans 11:17” But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them and became partaker with them of the rich[8] root of the olive tree,18- do not be arrogant toward the branches; but if you are arrogant, remember that it is not you who supports the root, but the root supports you. 19- You will say then, "Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in."20- Quite right, they were broken off for their unbelief, but you stand by your faith. Do not be conceited, but fear; 21- for if God did not spare the natural branches, He will not spare you, either.” These verses speak to Israel being grafted in again – Romans 11:23-“And they also, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. 24-For if you were cut off from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these who are the natural branches be grafted into their own olive tree?” These verses speak to the hardening of Israel until the full number of gentiles come in. Then after this all Israel will be saved. – Romans 11:25- “ For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery—so that you will not be wise in your own estimation—that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in;26- and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written, "THE DELIVERER WILL COME FROM ZION, HE WILL REMOVE UNGODLINESS FROM JACOB."27- "THIS IS MY COVENANT WITH THEM, WHEN I TAKE AWAY THEIR SINS.” This verse speaks to the natural branches, Israel, being grafted back in at the Second Coming – Romans 11-27. Paul added that when Christ comes Israel will be delivered – Romans 11:26-27. These verses also speak to the Second Coming: Jude 14-15, Rev. 3:3, 10-11, Rev 1:7, Rev 19:11-16, 2 Peter 3:3-7. Prophecy is just as certain as history. It will be fulfilled in God’s time and way – and perhaps relatively soon. Val |

Usually how someone interprets Revelation 20 determines their interpretive approach. Happy New Year - Val
278 | Question between John 6:44 vs John 12:32 | John 6:44 | Val | 212518
Dear Charlie, there is a multitude of commentaries at Preceptaustin.org. You can search the commentaries by verse. Just enter the verse in question, scroll down and you will see what the classical commentors said as well as modern day scholars. Because the book of Romans explains that all creation has an innate knowledge of God, man is without excuse. Also God has put within his creation, the world we live, the knowledge that He is the one who created everything on earth, in the heavens and underneath the heavens. One of the things that the Holy Spirit does is convict the world of sin. World meaning each of us individually. What we read in Romans that man, people individually, ignore this conviction or they recognize it is from God and seek Him. Romans specifically says that anyone who ignores this conviction is without hope. This is what makes one's heart hard and hard to reach. This is why we are to live for God when we are young because the older we get the harder our hearts, our conscience becomes to sin and eventually our conscience becomes seared, in other word we have no conscience for the wrongs we do, the wrongs being those things that God has said is immoral, stealing, adultery, etc. This type of person does not care for God or the things of God. Even the person who does seek God and listens to God's convicting Holy Spirit, if he does not read and study the bible, obeying the Lords commands and instructions written there, he will not be following the light the bible sheds. This is much the problem of our modern day church today. People rely on a twenty minute sermon once a week to be their guide. Often the speaker with take one verse and build a commentary around it rather than reading the word of God itsself as the prophets did to Israel. Also in the synagogues they read the scriptures. Christ draws us to himself through his death, burial and resurrection. All of us who have heard his story and those who have not see it in creation and their innate knowledge that God gave them. All people are drawn. All people are given plenty of chances to surrender to God. When people die without having surrendered to God, they have no one to blame but themselves. They didn't listen to God speaking to them through creation, through their consciences, through the spoken word, through the experiences of life such as death of a loved one. There is hope for anyone who will surrender to Jesus who came to rescue us from our sins and give us a heavenly home with Him. If you are worried about someone in particular that they are not drawn, you can pray for them and tell them the gospel story of how much God loves and wants to have a relationship with them. When I saw Jesus there on the cross and how much He suffered for me, that he could have called ten thousand angels to rescue Him but instead endured the death on the cross, it was at that moment that I saw why he died, because of my sins. I saw how much He loved me; enough to die for me. There was no sin in Him; I saw my sin next to Him and it broke my heart. I said God if you are really out there, I want you to be my Savior, I want to follow you. I bring myself and all my sins to you. I am not ashamed of Him anymore. I was raised in a christian home but was always ashamed because of how we were made fun of, church-goers. I am not ashamed anymore. I will tell anyone, anywhere, anytime about what Christ has done for me. Happy New Year, Val |
