241 | homosexuality | Lev 20:13 | Val | 199056
The Micah passage is about forgiveness but the balance of that passage is that it must come from a repentant heart. If there is no repentance there is no forgiveness.
242 | homosexuality | Lev 20:13 | Val | 199060
1 John 3:10 By this it is made clear who take their nature from God and are His children and who take their nature from the devil and are his children: no one who does not practice righteousness [who does not conform to God's will in purpose, thought, and action] is of God; neither is anyone who does not love his brother (his fellow believer in Christ). 1 John 3:11 For this is the message (the announcement) which you have heard from the first, that we should love one another, 1 John 3:12[And] not be like Cain who [took his nature and got his motivation] from the evil one and slew his brother. And why did he slay him? Because his deeds (activities, works) were wicked and malicious and his brother's were righteous (virtuous). Notice the contrast here. What types of children are there? Please do a study on the nature of God. His attributes and character. Lets end this thread until after you do that study. May God bless you. Val |

243 | Not even for some fresh air??? | Lev 21:12 | Val | 217982
Verse 10 through 12. The high priest was not allowed to become ritually unclean, even at the death of his father or mother. His duties in the sanctuary could not be interrupted. For his exalted position before God, the high priest sometimes paid a high personal price. Reference book is the Nelson study bible. Personal note. As I understand it there was a rotation of priests. I am not understanding the part about going outside for fresh air. Do you think it was musty in there or something? I don't see preachers going outside for fresh air until their service is over. Same concept maybe?
244 | If God said in the ten commandments "Tho | Lev 26:1 | Val | 194807
Since you did not list a scripture reference I will give you one: Lev 26:1 'You shall not make for yourselves idols, nor shall you set up for yourselves an image or a sacred pillar, nor shall you place a figured stone in your land to bow down to it; for I am the LORD your God. The key to understanding the verse is in what you do with the image. It says not to bow down to it. In other words don't worship it as a god. Wearing crosses is for decorative purposes. |

245 | Phinehas and the plague | Num 25:1 | Val | 195799
Israel was told explicitly not to worship false gods/idols or to intermingle with them. Those people of Israel who disobeyed this commandment were bringing judgment upon themselves. The Lord used plagues to bring death to those who disobeyed Him. As you see in verse four, to stop this rebellion the Lord gave instructions to put to death these rebellious leaders who were leading the people astray. Phinehas was obedient to the Lord when he saw the rebellious man and woman come into the tabernacle and the action he took. Reading down in the chapter it appears this man and the woman were people of influence who were trying to trick the people of Israel showing disregard for Jehovah God, verses 16-18. Phinehas was praised by the Lord for obeying Him as you see in verses 11-13. I don't know how this works itself out but you see from verse 11 Phinehas was jealous for his God and made atonement for the sons of Israel, therefore the plague was stopped. The key word is atonement. I believe this is similar to the concept of the blood used over the doorposts when the angel of death took the firstborn back in Egypt but those who put the blood on the doorposts were covered by the blood thus they lived. 246 | Who, besides Moses, chose the leaders? | Deut 1:9 | Val | 210772
Deut 1:13 'Choose wise and discerning and experienced men from your tribes, and I will appoint them as your heads.' Verse one says Moses spoke to the children of Israel. Verse 13 says he asked them to chose the men they wanted to represent them. So the people chose their own leaders. |

247 | ... | Deut 4:29 | Val | 194531
If you really want to know about the concept as you say then you can do a study of the attributes of God. You could start with what the bible says about Him. You could start with words like holy, justice, impartial. Any topics you desire. If you truly want to know Him, you will find Him when you seek Him with all your heart.
248 | Where does the bible condemn witchcraft? | Deut 18:10 | Val | 193517
One reason that the Lord does not allow witchcraft is because it amounts to idolatry in the sense that one is relying on something else rather than the Lord Jesus Christ.
249 | psychics | Deut 18:11 | Val | 196676
These things are strictly forbidden in scripture. They amount to idoltry. These are things that are involved in the occult. Since we are told to stay away from these things, it is better if we do not allow them a place in our lives or in our living rooms.
250 | Woman in pants | Deut 22:5 | Val | 213664
Dear Kcab: I think the answer lies in the fact that this was a different culture than our culture. The dress code has changed where they make pantsuits that are very feminine nowadays. Deuteronomy was written by Moses and was part of the covenant God made with Israel. I am not familiar with the dress code of that day, i.e., what kind of clothes they made but it seems to me the overall message has to do with women acting/dressing like men and men acting/dressing like women. Today people do it to be funny or because of immorality so it seems it would apply to motive. We know that men are attracted to women and women to men so if someone disguished themselves as the opposite sex and attracted same gender attention that would be immorality. Its deceit to dress as the opposite sex in a way that hides your gender. Today the pantsuits and jeans accentuate curves so men have no problem identifying a woman as a woman but if a man wears a dress they wouldn't know since that is more deceitful. If a denomination demands women not wear pantsuits as they did in the past they are looked upon as legalistic. They still demand men not wear dresses and so should they. Sincerely, Val |

252 | Moabites forbidden and Ruth allowed?? | Deut 23:3 | Val | 214581
Ruth was an exceptional woman. If you read the book of Ruth you will see this in the way she took care of her mother in law. Her mother in law was in a very bad mood after her sons died. It was Ruth who kept the family together. Boaz was the lucky one. He was a lot older than Ruth. Boaz praised Ruth for her behavior in not running after young men. Once Ruth and her mother in law returned to the homeland Ruth was the one who went out and searched for food. They were dirt poor. Ruth took instructions from her mother in law and did everything she told her. Boaz took note of this and being the kinsman redeemer he is an example of how Christ Jesus is the kinsman redeemer also for the Gentiles. Because a gentile is in the line of Christ. Praise the Lord, Val

254 | Banker are sinner or not | Deut 23:20 | Val | 214652
Notice in the next verse He says to charge interest to the foreigner. We must remember that Deuteronomy was written by Moses instructing him and the people of God, Israel, how to treat one another. They had just come out of Egypt and were going into the promised land. This law was for a specific nation at a particular time in history. In it we see the holiness of God and how he wants us to treat one another. To apply that to a modern situation I would personally consider the fair market value, what other banks are charging and through prayer and further study of God's word. You must be guided by the Holy Spirit within you as to what would be fair. A good rule of thumb is do unto others as you would have them do unto you. We live in a different time period under different government so we obey our government. Charging interest is a necessary component of business. Striking a balance I believe is key. You are in essence looking out for the good of both the customer and at the same time the business. Deut 23:20 "You may charge interest to a foreigner, but to your countrymen you shall not charge interest, so that the LORD your God may bless you in all that you undertake in the land which you are about to enter to possess. Hope this helps, Sincerely, Val

256 | turn not to the right or the left | Josh 1:7 | Val | 197132
Joshua 1:7 - Only you be strong and very courageous, that you may do (may do is the key word, be doers of the word and not hearers only as James says in James 1:22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. ) that you may do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you. Turn not from it (from it is the key word, to turn from it would be to follow something else rather than what the law said thus disobeying it by not staying focused on God and His covenant) Turn not from it to the right hand or to the left (in other words don't get off track, stay focused on God and what He says and obey Him) that you may prosper wherever you go. In Deuteromy, the promise was if you obey Me you will have blessings, if you disobey you will be cursed. That theme is continued in Joshua. Deut 30:15 "See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and adversity; Deut 30:16 in that I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you may live and multiply, and that the LORD your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it. Deut 30:17 "But if your heart turns away and you will not obey, but are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them, Deut 30:18 I declare to you today that you shall surely perish. You will not prolong your days in the land where you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess it. Deut 30:19 "I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, Deut 30:20 by loving the LORD your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them." |

257 | Rahab righteous or not? | Josh 2:4 | Val | 214634
Dear Humility: Here are some facts about Rahab the harlot that I hope might help; One, Rahab trusted God Two, Rahab was a resident of Jericho Three, Rahab’s faith spared her and her family from death Four, Rahab did not perish with the disobedient Five, Rahab had faith in God and found approval by Him because of it Six, The two spies went to the house of a harlot in Jericho, Rahab Seven, In almost every passage about her she is referred to as Rahab the harlot, yet she was the great-great grandmother of King David and in the line of Christ. Eight, She had heard about the Lord and the great things He had done and realized Who He is – the God in heaven above and on earth beneath. Nine, She was justified by her works of faith; she hid the spies and asked to be spared when God gave them the victory over Jericho. Ten, Perhaps the reason she is called Rahab the harlot is to remind all who read about her that there is none so defiled that they cannot come to faith in the Lord. Eleven, The scripture does not condone her lying, ONLY the fact that she hid the spies. Twelve, She was a pagan living in a society that DID NOT have the laws of God. Thirteen, The people of Jericho still remember what they had heard about the Lord drying up the Red Sea when He led Israel out of Egypt forty years previous. Fourteen, they had also heard what Israel had done to the two Amorite kings on the other side of the Jordan, very recently at that point in time. Fifteen, Their hearts had melted, and no courage remained in any man because of Israel, actually because of the God of Israel; that was the report of the two spies when they returned to Joshua. Sixteen, Rahab had secured a pledge of safety for herself and her father’s household before the spies left her. Seventeen, Rahab told them what to do to return safely to the camp of Israel. Eighteen, Rahab tied the scarlet cord in the window of her house on the wall as soon as they left, even though she knew the defeat of Jericho would not be for at least 3 more days. Nineteen, Rahab knew that Jericho would fall to Israel, and she did not perish with the disobedient. Twenty, Rahab knew of the Lord because she heard about what He had done. Sincerely, Val |
