242 | John4:35-38 and John 4:36 | John 3:36 | Robert Nicholson | 64896
Brother Sweet: John makes it clear that humans are divided into two groups: Those who believeth on the Son and those who believeth not. There is no sense that work is involved here. Eteranl life is a gift from God. It is not based on our work, but on the work of Jesus Christ upon the cross. If God is satisfied with his work, why should we not be satisfied with him? I love the promise of this verse. "he that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life" Our faith in Christ results in the free gift of everlasting life in him. It is not dependent on anything else. Sadly, "He that believeth not the Son shall not see life" If we do not obey the gospel of Christ than we do not have life. We can work our fingers to the bone, but if we do not know Christ our efforts are in vain. Not only do we not have life, but "the wrath of God abideth on him" This is the condition of every person who does not know Christ. They are guilty in the law court of God and his wrath hovers over them. Their only refuge is Christ, who with open arms says "Come unto me all you that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest" Matt. 11:28 The important thing to remember is that either: We have eternal life or we do not have eternal life: there is no inbetween. May God open our eyes. Robert |

244 | what was Jesus message to us and for us? | John 4:27 | Robert Nicholson | 63609
bbetty72: A great question! However, it is very difficult (for me anyhow) to come up with a neat statement of one sentence to answer your question: Why did Jesus come into this world? "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost" Luke 19:10 "I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." Mark 2:17 "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." What is his message to us? "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matt. 11:28-30 The greatest message of the gospel is given by Jesus in John 3:16 I believe the message of the gospel is that God has sent his son into the world to save sinners and that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. He wishes to forgive us through faith in his finished work. He wants our life, our heart our all. In John 17:3 he shows his hearts desire for his own "This is life eternal, that they may know thee the only true God and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. I apologize for not doing this question justice. I rejoice in the words of Paul: "This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief." 1 Tim. 1:15 What did you have in mind? Peace in his name Robert |

245 | harvest time and seed | John 4:35 | Robert Nicholson | 63707
Nikki Watson: The Lord Jesus in his time said "the fields are white unto harvest" We see in the verses below that both he that sows and he that reaps both rejoice at the fruit of the harvest. "Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth" (John 4: 35-37) In 1 Cor. 3:6 Paul reminds us of this principle: "I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase" The time of planting and harvest is now "behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." (2 Cor. 6:2) The Holy Spirit of God is who works up the soil of our heart to prepare us for the seed of the gospel. However, God by his grace has choosen his people to spread and water the word. More importantly it is only God who can gives the increase. Robert |

246 | What did Jesus mean in John 5:24? | John 5:24 | Robert Nicholson | 63586
What does Jesus mean? Is he teaching that a Christian should be able to look back to a time when they passed from death unto life? Peace Robert |

247 | What did Jesus mean in John 5:24? | John 5:24 | Robert Nicholson | 63603
Thank you brother Jay: I believe that we should remember that time, not necessarily the date, but a time when we were made new creatures in Christ. It stands to reason that if we are lost that there was a time when Jesus found us. I agree that the word "heareth" means to hear with understanding and the word "believe" is to totally rely upon or rest upon the finished work of Christ. What I like about this verse is the positive statement "shall not come into judgment, but is passed from death unto life" Praise his name Robert |

248 | what if we don't do the if | John 5:24 | Robert Nicholson | 69530
Christian 7 I would like to look at Romans 13. I believe that some of our problems with interpretation of scripture is that at times we attempt to make meaning of verses in isolation. It is only within context, moving from the narrow to the wide do we see how these verse fit into God's word. In Romans 13:1 Paul asks "Hath God cast away his people? He is looking at his people nationally not as individuals. In v. 2 he reminds them "God has not cast away his people..." However, from v. 3 until v. 11 he explains that as a nation they have been set aside or broken off because of unbelief v. 20 In v.12 we find that by the fall of Israel "that salvation is come to the Gentiles"v.12 The warnings from v 12 to 24 are aimed at the Gentile nations. They are warned not to be proud v. 18 and if as a nation they fall into unbelief v. 20 they too will be broken off. V.22 "Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God:" It is God's perogative to show mercy to whom he will show mercy. This chapter is dealing with God's dealings nationally with Israel and the Gentiles rather than with individual testimony. I believe that we can rest on the promises of God and the Words of our Lord Jesus Christ that he gives unto us eternal life and they will never perish. We must remember that the gift of eternal life which we receive is ours with no strings attached. The idea that a person who belongs to Christ would wish to give back this free gift is ludicrous beyond comprehension. I will look at your (ifs) sometimes we are dealing with the if of argument which means "since" although not in all places. Peace in his Name Robert |

249 | what if we don't do the if | John 5:24 | Robert Nicholson | 69586
Dear brother: "cut off what" ? V.21 I believe that Paul is teaching that Israel nationally has been cut off, "their eyes have been dimmed" and at that time God was bringing the gospel to the Gentile nations. However, Paul is warning the Gentiles that they cannot take for granted the blessing which is theirs and if they take a position of pride and unbelief that they too will be cut off. Do we not see this today in nations that forget or turn against God? In Romans 3 we see that as individual whether Jew or Gentile we are all under sin. We know that Christ died for the ungodly Romans 5 which takes in all individuals. The gospel message is to the whosoever will (John 3;14 to 16) and lost guilty sinners can be born again by resting in the work that Christ has accomplished on the cross. It is the work and worth of Christ which secures our eternal redemption. In James we look at the principle of works being the fruit which should come from a Christian if they have been changed from within by the Spirit of God. If we profess to be saved and show no fruit of the Spirit in our lives, we can not justify our claim outwardly to others. Nevertheless, it is not our works which accompany salvation that secures our standing before God, that is only accomplished by Christ who paid the debt in full. When we trust Christ it is God who does the work within our hearts, it is not a self-improvement thing, but rather a complete new creature in Christ which brings us into a relationship with God as sons or children. We were born by the Spirit of God into this family. God Bless Robert |

250 | The Word of Christ- a Message of Hope | John 5:24 | Robert Nicholson | 72767
I enjoy the Nasb amplified rendering of these words spoken by our Lord Jesus Christ. "I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the person whose ears are open to My words [who listens to My message] and believes and trusts in and clings to and relies on Him Who sent Me has (possesses now) eternal life. And he does not come into judgment [does not incur sentence of judgment, will not come under condemnation], but he has already passed over out of death into life." (John 5:24) The assurance we receive from the Savior's words are that: a) We can now possess eternal life when we rest by faith upon Christ. b) We shall not incur the judgment for our sins, in other words we are totally forgiven. c) That we have passed from death unto life. We were spiritually dead to God before he spoke to us. When we rested upon the work of Christ we were born from above by his Spirit and made alive in Christ. "This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief" ( 1 Tim. 1:15) Praise his Name Robert |

251 | What did Jesus mean in John 5:24? | John 5:24 | Robert Nicholson | 81626
Brother Radioman: Thank you for your answer. None of the things you have mentioned have anything to do with a person being born again or born from above. Prayers, cards, decisions, baptisms or spiritual experiences has anything to do with a person establishing a personal relationship with God. Salvation is a work of God. It is he who by his Spirit awakens us to our sinful need of a Savior. It is he who presents to us the Lord Jesus Christ as the only Savior who can and will give us peace with God. It is only when God reveals to us that Christ is indeed the only Savior and that his work and worth is what salvation is anchored upon, that we as lost sinners can rest by faith upon him and be born from above. He creates within us a new heart and gives us new life as he by his Spirit dwells within our heart. As a sinner saved by his grace all that we can do is thank and praise him for his patience with us and for his ever reaching us when we were lost and helpless in our sins. To base our salvation on anything else is sinking sand. It is Christ our died, who paid the price which God demanded for our sin and it is God by his Spirit who brings us to saving faith in Christ. He stands alone for salvation, we are secure, he cannot deny himself. Praise his precious name. The moment we rest or trust in him we have passed from death unto life. This is not progressive, but instantanious the moment we rest in him. All other methods rest on something man can do and yet we know that salvation is not of works lest any should boast. In Christ Robert |

252 | help me understand | John 6:66 | Robert Nicholson | 57964
Dear Dasev: There are some basic trues which we must consider: First of all the Lord Jesus Christ made one sacrifice for sin forever, and has sat down on the right hand of the majesty on high.(Hebrews 10:12 On Calvary's dark cross he cried "Finished!"(John 19:30) and bowed his head and died. What was finished. He finished the work his father gave him to do. He offered himself without spot unto God a sacrifice for sin. (Hebrews 9:14) His sacrifice superceded all other sacrifices which were merely a type or picture of the Lamb of God who was to come. (Hebrews 10:1-12) The whole of idea of transubstantiation is from the dark ages. What did Jesus mean in John 6:53? He is making it clear that we must be partakers of him in order to have eternal life. How do we become partakers of him? In John chapter 6 the people wanted to know how they could be partakers. This idea is supported by Paul in 1 (Cor. 10:17) In v. 29 of John 6, the Lord Jesus said "believe on him whom God hath sent" Some would say what about the sacrament? Or other terms to describe the rememberance of the Lord Jesus. We know that on the night that he was being betrayed, when the supper was ended that he took bread, brake it and blessed and gave it unto his disciples and said "this is my body which is given for you. And that likewise he took the cup and blessed it and said "this is the cup of the new covenant, drink ye all of it. It is clear in this passage that he was introducing the emblems which would be used to remember his body which was given and his percious blood which would be shed on Calvary's cross. Has God given us an further revalation on this subject? Yes! Paul in 1 Corinthians 11:23 writes of this revalation given to him of the Lord "For I have received of the Lord that which I also deliver unto you" Paul is telling them that without prior information that Christ revealled this truth to him. What was this truth? He reminds them of the night which Jesus was betrayed " When he ( Jesus) had given thanks and said "this is my body, which is given for you, this do in rememberance of me" As they each took part of the bread they remembered that precious body that was given for them at Calvary. After the same manner he took the cup, when he had supped saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, this do yea as oft as you drink it in rememberance of me" V25 Paul then unfolds the meaning of this feast. "For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup you do proclaim the Lord's death until he come" V.26 What does this mean? It means that as believers join together and partake of the emblems of bread and the cup, they are acknowledging the death of Christ on the cross and the value of his sin cleansing precious blood. In addition, they are proclaiming to all that they will continue to remember him until he come. In other words they are witnessing to all around that Jesus is coming for those who have trusted in him and rested upon his finished work on the cross. To suggest that each week we eat of the emblems to somehow be born again is ludricous, we can only be born from above once and that is when we put our total trust in the finished work of Christ. In fact it reminds us of the offerings of old which had to be offered contiually for the people. To suggest we need something more is an insult to the Son of God. You have mentioned the function of the Priest. Again and according to God's word we have a great hight priest who provides us access to the presence of God by his own precious blood. "Hebrews 10:19-21) The person who is a partaker by faith in Christ is encouraged to approach God with boldness, because we approaching not on our own merit, but on the merits of the precious blood of Christ. God's word makes it plain "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5) God does not assign any substitutes to stand in for his dear son. The scriptures are very clear that those who have eternal life are those who have rested their all upon the finished work of Christ on the cross. All other ways are sinking sand. Robert |

253 | When does the Baptism occur? | John 7:38 | Robert Nicholson | 43536
dear brother Markarios: I agree that the moment we are born again or born from above,(John 3) that we are indwelt or sealed by the Holy Spirit and are "baptized into one body" 1Cor.12:13 which is often referred to as the church which is his body. Believers baptism as you have indicated is the outward profession of the inward change, identifying us with the Lord Jesus Christ. In the times of the early church, for a believer to make this outward proclaimation, "that I belong to Christ and am set apart to live for him" placed them in a place of ridicule and persecution. I enjoy the thought given by Paul "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." 2 Cor. 5:17 This verse would teach us that the moment we are in Christ, the Spirit of God changes us. This is one of the proves that we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit of God. In reference to your initial verse John 7:38 I believe we have the promise that once a sinner by faith drinks of the living fountain, that from within will flow outward the fruit of the Holy Spirit in their lives. One last thing, do you not think that we have to recognize that immediately after the cross was a time of transition when we find the Holy Spirit was imparted by the laying on of hands by the apostles. We see however, that by Acts 10 that as Peter preached to the Gentiles that the Holy Spirit fell upon them when they heard the word. In Acts 10:47 we see the order "Can any man forbid water that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?" God bless you brother Robert |

254 | When does the Baptism occur? | John 7:38 | Robert Nicholson | 43788
Dear brother Markarios: I believe there are events in the early days of the church which were transitional as in the case of receiving the Holy Spirit. In Acts 8:14-17 we read "When the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, who when they were come down prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (for as yet he was fallen upon none of them only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus) Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost." Another example was in the case of Saul of Tarsus who in Acts 9:17 received the Holy Spirit when Ananias laid hands upon him. However, in Acts 10:44 "While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them that heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Spirit. We find as I mentioned in V47 that after they had received the Holy Ghost they were baptised in the name of the Lord. In the early examples we have believers who were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus and later received the Holy Spirit by the Laying on of hands. I believe however, that my last reference shows us the order in which things happen today. They hear and believe the Word, are immediately indwelt with the Holy Ghost and then baptized in the name of the Lord. When we by the Spirit of God are made to see our need of Christ and except him as our saviour we are born again or born from above, we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit making us new creatures in Christ. I look forward to your response your brother in Christ Robert |

255 | When does the Baptism occur? | John 7:38 | Robert Nicholson | 44188
Greetings Ray; I appreciate your response, but I must admit that I am not sure of where you are coming from. I have always believed that the Holy Spirit is a person of the Godhead and agree with you that he indwells the believer the moment he rests in Christ for salvation. Please explain what you mean by the holy spirit? I have always differentiated between being indwelt by the Spirit and being filled by the Spirit. ( I don't understand your view on capitalization) As we have already agreed, all believers are indwelt by the Holy Spirit. I have looked at being filled with the Spirit as the willingness of a Christian to allow the Spirit of God to have his way in their life. We are warned not to quench the Spirit of God and not to greive the Spirit of God. I look forward to your response. your brother by his grace alone Robert |

256 | tell me about Nazareth | John 7:42 | Robert Nicholson | 68708
Greetings romans: you have quoted John 1:46 the words of Nathanael "Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?" I believe in the context we find that Philip has told him in v.45 "we have found him" (the Christ) and mentions that he is from Nazareth. I believe that Nathaneal's reply is not so much the problem with the actual city of Nazareth, but with the prophecy concerning the coming Christ Micah 5:2 who would come out of Bethlehem. The same thought is found in John 7:41-42 "Shall Christ come out of Galilee?" (Nazareth was in Galilee.) I have not found anything to support the idea that Nazareth was a dispised city in any way. Thus I believe Nathaneal has Christ in mind and the prophecies of his coming and is referring to him as the "good". Just a few thoughts Peace in his name Robert |

257 | tell me about Nazareth | John 7:42 | Robert Nicholson | 68710
Romans: I apologize, my finger hit the send key too soon: People of Jesus day were not aware that Jesus was born in Bethlehem In Luke 2:39 Nazareth was the home of Mary and Joseph and was the place where the coming of Christ was announced. As you will recall, Joseph and Mary took Jesus to Eygpt to save him from Herod. However, when they returned, they settled in Nazareth where Jesus grew up Luke 4:16 The public ministry of Jesus in the synogogue began in Nazareth Matt. 13: 54 We find that they lived in Nazareth that the scripture might be "fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene (Judges 13:5) God bless Robert |

258 | Do you yet say that Jesus was just a man | John 9:24 | Robert Nicholson | 55140
Dear friends: The Man Christ Jesus Part 1 We live in a day in which there are many “reasonable facsimiles” of Christ proposed. Some would see him simply as a good man who set a good example for us to follow, others would suggest that he is the son of God who began his days at Bethlehem and others would suggest he never lived at all. Nevertheless, the scripture is clear, Jesus Christ is the Son of God and is God manifest in the flesh. The study of the Godhead is profoundly interesting and yet as we approach the infinite we find that our finite minds can hardly take it in. Who are we to question our creator? I believe we must avoid trying to bring the God of eternity to our level of understanding “since his ways are past finding out"? The unfathomable mystery to humans is that there is one God and yet we see him manifest as three persons in one. He does not work independently of himself, indeed it is with full harmony within the Godhead which God has revealed himself to humankind. Who was Jesus Christ? Was he the Son of God or was he God manifest in the Flesh? Both! We read that “God who in many parts and in many ways spake in times past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days hath spoken unto us (in) Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things by whom also he made the worlds(ages). Who (the Son) being in the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the majesty on high.” (Hebrews 1:1) The Son of God “being” perfect tense, was, is and always will be in the brightness of his glory. The Son of God who is the express image of his person. Jesus described this “He that hath seen me hath seen the father” (John 14:9) The Son of God who upholds all things by the word of his power. This would show that he is coeternal with the father. John speaks of Christ in this way “ In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him and without him was not anything made that was made.” (John 1:1-4) God by his Spirit teaches us that Christ “is” that he always was and always will be. He was there in the beginning in creation, in fact he is the Creator. Amazing grace is that in obedience to his father, the Creator takes a lowly stoop into this world. “The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld his glory as the only begotten of the father full of grace and truth” (John 1:14) John was a person witness, friend and disciple to the Lord Jesus. He shows to us that Jesus was not simply the Son of God who began his life at Bethlehem, but this man Christ Jesus was God incarnate. Peter in 1 Peter 2 writes concerning the Lord Jesus “who did no sin neither was guile found in his mouth” V22 Paul writes to the Corinthians “for he hath made him to be sin for us, (he) who knew no sin: that we might be made the righteousness of God through him. Peter In 1 Peter 1:19 reminds us that we are redeemed “with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” Without blemish shows us his perfection as he came into the world and without spot shows his sinless walk in his journey here below. The important message here is that the Son of God was truly a man and yet truly God. He did not make a choice not to sin, because he could not sin, that is the divine character of God. 259 | Do you yet say that Jesus was just a man | John 9:24 | Robert Nicholson | 55143
The Man Christ Jesus Part 2 In Philippians 2 we consider his eternal existence and equality with his father and his lowly stoop with his incarnation. “Who being in the form of God thought it not robbery (or not a thing to be grasped at) to be equal with God: But he made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant and was made in the likeness of man: and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death even the death of the cross” (v5-8) God again by his Spirit is showing us that Christ was with God, equal and coeternal and that he set that glory aside and took the lowly stoop via the virgins womb and walked this scene in perfect harmony with his father, proving time and time again who he was and willing allowed his journey to lead to the cross where he gave his life for us. “he said I have the power to lay down my life and I have power to take it up again” On the cross he cried “Finished” the conquers cry, and he said “Father into thy hands I commend my Spirit” then he bowed his head and died. Even in his death we are made to realize this was no ordinary man, this was God manifest in the flesh. Paul writing to the Colossians “For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily” (Col.2:9) The important truth that Paul is teaching is that the Lord Jesus never ceased to be what he always was, by that which he became. When Jesus was on earth we read in Mark 2 how the Pharisees in their derision confirmed that Jesus is God. “Why doth this man speak blasphemies: Who can forgive sins but God. The spoke the truth, but did not know that it was God whom they were dealing with when Jesus to the paralyzed man “Son thy sins be forgiven thee” and than said “ that ye might know the Son of Man hath power on earth to forgive sins” v10 we find he healed the man. Time and time again Jesus refers to himself as the son of man which is equivalent to God in the flesh. Is it not wonderful that God shares with us his eternal counsel we read such prophetic words in Isaiah 6; 8 “the Lord saying whom shall I send and who will go for us? Then said I ; Here am I; send me” In Psalm 40:7 and in Hebrews 10:9 we read the words of the Lord Jesus “Lo I come in the volume of the book which is written of me, to do thy will O God.” For God so loved the World that he gave his only begotten (unique) Son , that whosoever, believeth on him , should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 May those who have trusted him always value him for who he is: God manifest in the flesh. Robert If we could only tell him as we know him! |

260 | how can we loose our salvation. | John 10:28 | Robert Nicholson | 34370
Dear friend The story of the prodical Son in Luke 15 shows the love, mercy and forgiveness of a father even when we have gone astray. The son asked his father for his inheritance and head off on his own way. He wasted it all on high living and when he spent all, he had to feed pigs and even stoop to partaking of their feed to live. However, even though he had sunk to this level, he was still his father's son. The son wakes up to his need and realizes his wrong and heads home with the idea of being just a servant and not a son. Meanwhile, the father is concerned about his wayward son and is watching for him. "When he was yet a far way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him" V.20 The son starts to confess his sin and his desire to be just a servant. The Father clothed him in the best robe, put shoes on his feet and a ring on his finger. This was his son who had been lost to him but had returned home. The son was never less a son while he was away than when he arrived back home. As Christians we can get cold in heart, want our own way and indeed waste the talents which God has given us. Nevertheless, he is concerned for us and watching over us as we walk at a distance to him. Afterall we are still his son/daughter. If we come home to him his arms like the father of old are open to accept us back, to forgive us and to love us, because we are members of his eternal family. I cannot understand why some wish to put so much energy into trying to prove that Christians can lose their salvation. How can we lose a family position which has been given to us through Christ, yea even to "the adoption of children" Eph.1:5 Noah and his family of old provide a good picture of God's salvation through Christ: The ark is a picture of Christ. When God called Noah and his family into the ark, they entered and God shut the door. Could they decide to leave if they wanted or be kicked out if they misbehaved? No! God had shut them in. We read about those who have trusted Christ: "In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise" Eph. 1:13 When we entered through the door of John 10:5 we entered by or through Christ and upon entering we are sealed by the holy Spirit of promise."(Gal 1:13 Paul also writes: "Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts." (1 Cor.1:22) God's salvation in the scriptures is seen in 3 aspects: 1. We are saved from the Penalty of sin when we first trust Christ. All our sins were laid on him and judged by God. 2. We are saved of preserved daily from the power of sin by the Holy Spirit who dwells in each believer. We will be changed more and more into becoming like Christ as we allow the Holy Spirit to work in our lives. Sadly, we may choose to greave the Holy Ghost or to quench the Holy Ghost and try our own prodical way. Which results in our loss in a future day and God's loss today. 2. We will be saved from the very presence of sin when Jesus comes and we that are his at his coming will be called into his personal presence forever. If God is satisfied in the work which Jesus accomplished on the cross, a fact that is proven in that God raised him from the dead; Then why can't feeble sinners simply accept God at his word and accept Christ alone for salvation? St. Paul had doubts about his life for Christ and was bothered that he might fall out of the race set before him. On the other hand he could say with confidence regarding his souls security "I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day."1 (Tim. 1:12) John provides this note of assurance to the believers "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you might know that you have eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God"(1 John5 :13) In others words since we have eternal life, we can contiue to trust him for everything to come, because we are his forever.
