On the other hand, I would point out, it is JUST as important and required that the man in this relationship live up to his vow and lay down life literally if that's what it comes to, in order to keep his wife and serve her just as Christ did for His beloved bride, the church. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

222 | searching for the truth | 1 Cor 11:3 | Country Girl | 125502
I would like to think you're on the right track, but then I thought I'd contribute. In my opinion, God looks at this issue rather simply and expects us as His children to look at it just as simply. Since the very first, from Cain and Able to King Saul, all the way through the Law of Moses and the rest of the Bible, it's always been a simple matter of obedience or submission to God's way. Saul found that out, just like Cain, Nadib and Abihu, Ananias and Saphira did and many, many others. Each person has to make up his own mind by reading the whole Bible and drawing his own conclusion. Is it going to be God's way or does a person insist on seeing it his way and offer God a counter proposal? Anything else other than God's way is unacceptable. Now that's NOT to say that there is no Grace, Mercy or Forgiveness for indeed, thanks be to God there is, but God doesn't want us taking it for granted. We must do our dead level best to obey as much as we can, then His Grace will cover the rest. Just like we as parents want our kids to obey us in their role as obedient children, God wants the same. Just like Jesus portrayed with his approval of little children coming to Him. There's nothing we could possibly do to come up with to substitute for simple obedience to God's Will. Would you not agree with that? Hoping for a positive response and blessings to you. Country Girl |

223 | KJV the ONLY authentic Word of God? | 1 Thess 5:21 | Country Girl | 125493
Good point. If it's only one thing we should learn from all this discussion is that no one translation of God's Word should be put on a pedestal for very long. Language throughout the world (especially the modern world) is just too dynamic with too many changes to allow for such a thing. The item that we DO need to put on a pedestal forever for each of us is God's Word Itself, the message, the Good News of Salvation through Christ. We must devote ourselves to study God's Word all our lives, to include all translations and give each one its proper credit. When the translators do a good job, it will become evident in the study and comparison with all the others. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

225 | speaking in tongue | 1 Cor 12:13 | Country Girl | 125348
But we are in agreement on my main point...that there is no instance in the whole NT other than Acts 2 and 10, where christians manifested these powers WITHOUT the laying on of hands from the Apostles. Since Luke makes mention of this fact and the absence of any other source throughout the balance of the NT, it seems pretty clear to me. Does anyone else have an opinion or scripture to add to the discussion? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

226 | speaking in tongue | 1 Cor 12:13 | Country Girl | 125341
Mr. EdB has posted an excellent explanation of spiritual gifts, including speaking in tongues but it seems to me there's just one thing missing. Correct me if I'm mistaken as I might be but isn't the following true? There's not one single instance in the NT other than in Acts 2 with the establishment of the church and Acts 10 with Cornelius, where people in the NT received this miraculous powers ONLY with the laying on of hands by the Apostles? As a matter of fact, Acts 8 makes this very plain. There, people were baptized and became christians and then only after the laying on of hands by the Apostles did they received these kinds of miraculous powers. The baptism of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2 and 10 was done for very specific reasons, 1) to establish the church and 2) to endorse the sharing of this Gospel message with Gentiles as well as Jews, respectively. Since we have no more living Apostles amongst us, it's difficult to believe in the modern manifestation of miracles from common men and women, even christians in today's world. Again, I may be mistaken, if so please feel free to correct me. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

227 | Christ our Superior Priest | Heb 4:14 | Country Girl | 125331
I've seen and read all three of your posts on this subject book of Hebrews but you've posed no questions, only statements. Is this a three part sermon or are we headed for some questions to start a discussion? So far, I agree with all of your statements as Hebrews is an excellent dissertation of the superiority of Christianity over the Jewish Religion. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

228 | is it ok to kill? | Eccl 3:3 | Country Girl | 125156
I think these scriptures and general thinking from God as well as those in Romans in support of a sovreign government is sufficient grounds to believe and practice captial punishment for capital crimes. This is further endorsed by recent history of our country. When a large group of people such as a nation go for a long extended period of time without the option of executing murderers, it breeds disrepect and continued lawlessness in others. So it appears to be a perfectly solid conclusion for a nation to endorse a policy of having criminals that choose to "live by sword, then they can die by the sword" and be executed for capital offenses. Blessings to all those studying AND obeying God's Word. Country Girl |

Sometimes I feel like a nut: I left an important word, see below. I would have to side with the fact that babies were NOT part of the household because they could NOT believe, repent or confess the name of Jesus. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

I would have to side with the fact that babies were NOT part of the household because they could believe, repent or confess the name of Jesus. This is further endorsed by the probable fact that the jailer was most likely an older man and thus all his kids would have been mature enough to have obeyed the gospel. Just my opinion. Blessings to you all. Country Girl |

232 | antichrist | Luke 10:27 | Country Girl | 124954
Your two posts on this thread seems to indicate you've completely overlooked several key verses on the subject, one of which is cited below 1 Pet 5:6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, 1 Pet 5:7 casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. 1 Pet 5:8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 1 Pet 5:9 But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world. No, my friend I'm afraid the Devil is as real as you and me. He's just spiritual like our God, whereas you and I are mostly physical, finite in this world. The big difference between God and the Devil is their devotion to good vs. evil, respectively. The Bible as a whole clearly portrays this Devil as a very real being whom we should respect because of the power of temptation and the lust for our souls he has for us. Why else do you think the Bible spends so much time and print on the concept of a christian and the possibility of being lost due to unfaithfulness or disobedience? I do hope you'll continue to study this topic and learn to respect Satan and his powers. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

234 | do i have to worship loudly? | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 124928
Just to let you know there are a wide variety of opinions on this subject: faith vs. works. Just insert these words into the Quick Search or the scriptures from James, Chapter 2 and you'll see. Remember each of us has to study God's Word for our own conclusion as God expects us to stand for ourselves on Judgment Day. Hank is an excellent Bible student but we're all just human and ONLY God's Judgment is absolutely perfect. Hope this helps in your study. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

235 | Can we recognize loved ones in heaven | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 124927
If I may interject at this point, I'd like to say that Norm HAS answered the question. The Bible is NOT particularly clear on this controversy. The scripture you've cited with the rich man Lazarus does seem to favor your position but it is only a parable. In seeming contrast are the scriptures from Norm which seem to say that we won't have our physical bodies in heaven. Just my opinion, but I'm thinking since the whole universe is going to go up in smoke according to Peter that Heaven is going to be a metaphysical place, that is spiritual where God's Being is going to be forever. We as christians will be there forever with him but we don't really have clear details on exactly what it's going to be like as we humans don't have any "reference points" for such a spiritual place. I think I'll wait until it happens and see what it's going to be like. This one thing I do know: it's going to be far more glorious and wonderful than anything we could possibly imagine. Blessings to you all. Country Girl |

236 | Bibical mean for LOVE, WISDOM AND LIGHT | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 124880
By no means would I take offense as I quite agree with you. But for serious Bible students, I think we would all agree, Ecclesiastes is much deeper than Proverbs. I'm thinking after restudying the book recently in class, that Solomon wrote this book after Proverbs, maybe even in the twilight years of his life. In some respects, it's a depressing book but if we look at it knowing all of what he went through, we can gain a lot of wisdom. Thanks for the supplement. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

237 | follow up on a new convert | Acts | Country Girl | 124879
I would have to beg to differ with you, dear friend. The Bible clearly teaches us to love one another, moreso than our own bodies. If we truly love our fellow christians, we'll will approach them occasionally as needed and see how they're doing. We're expected to act as a true brother and restore the erring with love and gentleness. There are many scriptures and many, many examples of this kind of close fellowship throughout the Bible, but hopefully you know this already. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

I'm not quite certain but it SEEMS that you're saying you believe in the Deity of Christ and the fact of the Trinity, in contrast to most JWs. Can you make this clear for me and everyone else on the Forum? Are you indeed endorsing these facts above? I really look forward to a positive answer. Please let us know. Blessings to you. I thought I indicated as much in my statement but you stated it much more succinctly than I did. Yes, very definitely I'm convinced as I stated in a previous post, we can believe whole-heartedly that we have ALL of what God wants us to know for eternity. Thanks for clearing that up and blessings to you. Country Girl |
