In Luke 23, when Jesus says "today", do you think He was saying you will be today in Paradise with me; OR do you think He was saying, "I am saying this today" I know this has been a topic before, HOWEVER we have many new peeps to the forum, and perhaps a fresh look an old question could be entertained? |

Edwin, I hope you did not misunderstand my question. I am in FULL agreement Scripture interprets Scripture and the Holy Spirit will teach me. I know this because He has brought such verses as Proverbs 27:17 to my heart... Iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens another. NASB We can glean from one another. Strong dedicate his entire life to the Strong's Concordance. His time spent with the Holy Spirit must have been incredable! What a gift that he would share his time time of learning even after his physical death with you and me! Don't ya think? Just like in this forum. We are learning from one another. We can ask questions, post notes... We each come from different backgrounds, but in this forum, we are just brothers and sisters who want to glean from one another. ( I hope :) ) THe more we learn of God's Spoken Word..2 Tim. 3:16, 17...the more we learn of HIM, and the more intimate our relationship with HIM becomes. We each are in different seasons of life as are and were those who have written down what they learn from their studies. We each have something to offer another brother or sister in knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. That is all I meant by my question. I hope you can understand my purpose in asking, forgive me for not making it more clear when I first asked. In His Service, Cuddle |

This so crazy! I thought I was asking a question that most would find unimportant...I have enjoyed so very much reading all these post on you guys' study habits. I must admit, as I said before, I do write notes in my Bible and I underline key words to a verse(sometimes highlight). I don't want my Bible to look like a coloring book though. If that is what works for some, who am I to judge? I would like to take the question a bit further and ask... What is the most valuable tool you use when you study NOT THAT THE BIBLE IS NOT THE MOST TREASURED AND VALUABLE...I am referring to concordances, dictionaries, commentarries, lexicons, etc. For example, I have an e-sword computer program I use daily it seems. It has ... a ton of resources! And there are some other favorites too, I am just curious what resouces you guys use. Cuddle |

30 | Hating your parents, what does this mean | Bible general Archive 3 | cuddle | 182741
Suzievett, I love word studies, so bare with me in this reply... the word hate in Luke 16:26 is a Greek word, miseo. for the most part in Scripture it is used in literal sense BUT it is one of those words that in the Greek language can be used figuratively as well. The passage in Luke it is figurative. Jesus wants us to love HIM in such a deep and long lasting love that love as we know it towards our family would seem like hatred. Our service and passion for the Lord can cause a family to be divided. I have experienced such with my mother and I have a teenage daughter who is completely turning from the Lord right now. I do not know if you have a personal situation in your life that is behind your question, but if you do PRAY. Seek wisdom from godly men and women. I remember the first time my husband read this verse he thought it was arogant of the Lord. He is now a Christian and loves the Lord with such a passion. I know it is a love that runs deeper than his love for his mother, father, our daughter, or me. I have that same love for God. You will find peeps on this forum that have that love for God. God is LOVE He will love you, your parents, your children more than you can ever imagine. Look at what He has already done for each of us...John 3:16 I hope this in some way answers you. There are many things we are going to struggle with in the Word.Do not let it discourage you from your study of the Word. PRAY... the Holy Spirit will teach you and comfort you in the things you struggle with or "don't like" In His Service, Cuddle |

Thank you ever so much Hank. I think the Bible I carry now is the NASB you have (calf skin) My husband bought it for me years ago. Its durabilty has amazed me. It is the pages I have worn. I am not as restrained as you I love the wide margins! I write thoughts and kinda my own commentary to the verses as I study. I love word studies and often write what I learn in those in the margin. I agree with you about coloring. I am some what familar with that part of Kay Arthur's approch. My plan was to apply the charts and maps I have seen in the NISB and the introduction to chapters and so forth. The method without the colors I guess. Thanks for the input. Cuddle |

33 | Genisis 6 man life expencty is 120 years | Gen 6:3 | cuddle | 182716
I am not sure if this is the answer, but I think it could be the way I understand the thing. I am not a scholar, and am constantly learning, and being corrected. With that said ...compare this verse in Genesis with 1 Peter 3:20-who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water. NASB Let that sink in for a minute..."during the construction of the ark." Noah did not build this thing in a day or two, it took time! Maybe it took 120 years. I mean, imagine it. These people had never seen rain before. God in His mercy was giving them some time to see He was not happy and something BIG was about to happen. I thank and praise Him He gives us time. I am even more thankful we can use the time to study His word together in this forum. Remeber, this question does not depend on your salvation, and I am sure there may be someone who can give you a more sound answer than I. (you and me both a more sound answer) It is a good question...made me use my noggin! In His Service, Cuddle |

34 | CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP | Bible general Archive 3 | cuddle | 182698
Saved, I can honestly say I wrestled with this same question for a season. I was raised as closely to a Jehovah Witness as posible. (that's a long story)They teach they are the only ones with the truth and their 'governing body' are the only one's who can understand the Scriptures and teach them to their congregation. I believed this! I know now it was a load of ... well let's just say that is not true. There are many churches who believe this, as I have learned over the last few years and I pray that this kind of teaching will end. NO CHURCH KNOWS IT ALL OR IS PERFECT. We are all in the flesh. Until Christ returns, we are going to fall short of having a church that 'has it all together' and is 'right' in all they teach. It is up to the Christian to study, pray, spend time with the Lord seeking truth. We go to church yes, to learn and grow, but we also go for fellowship and we attend studies with other brothers and sisters so that iron may sharpen iron. I finally came to the conclusion on my own search for a Body of Christ to worship with that instead of complaining about what I thought was wrong to do something about it. If that was not an option, move on. If you talk to the Lord about this He will guide your heart to the Body of Christ that is 'missing' you. The hand can not do what the foot can do nor the eye hear. (I paraphrase;)) Psalm 55:22 Cast your burden upon the Lord Denomination, in my opinion is over rated. I like what Paul says in 1 Corinthians 1:10-17. In my mind I sometimes take the names above church doors and place where Paul calls on the names of persons. I have a ministry the Lord gave me last year and the Scripture the ministry is built upon is 1 Corinthians 3:11..For no man can lay any foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ NASB. Before you buy a new pair of shoes, you have to try them on to make sure thay fit. I do not mean to minimize the decision of finding a church home, this is just what came to mind here... maybe if you went to a few different churches, made appointments with the pastor of each to sit down and express your concerns, ask questions, it would help you find a comfortable fit. I would make sure the BIBLE was being taught there and that Christ is their foundation. I hope my rambling heart has given some insight to your question. I am currently relocating and need a new church family myself. I will be praying you find the perfect fit for this season of your life. In His Service, Cuddle |

Are you referring to small groups that many larger churches have committed to? I guess I am not clear as to what you are asking, not that I know the answer or anything, but I would like more understanding of the question for when the answer does come along. Cuddle |

Saved, May I quote you?..."Will I be okay to not attend church in a building if I sing and worship at home." With all do respect, I copied and pasted this from your post. Please know I only speak (type:) ) in love, the answer plain and simple is no. We can not leave that kind of door open for the enemy to walk straight into our lives. It is not the act of a mature and responsible Christian. You will be prayed for by me and I am sure many who read these posts. Please DO FORGIVE ME if you feel I am passing judgement. I am not. I am the last one to be qualified for such a thing. I DO KNOW the Word of GOD is VERY clear on this matter. If you search your heart and most importantly God's Word, you will not be able to deny this. The Body of Christ only works when its members come together. We are not perfect and you are not going to find a 'perfect' church. We can only strive, seek guidance and wisdom, and most importantly PRAY. In Love, Cuddle P.S. Doc, Jeff, And you regulars: PLEASE GIVE ME SOME INPUT ON THE NISB....LAUGH, LAUGH...I am being serious though, the Bible I am using now has about had it and I am about to hit the road for a round of speaking engagements. I have not bought a new one for a few years and am having a hard time deciding on one. Thanks |

39 | DEPRESSION AND CHURCH ATTENDANCE | Bible general Archive 3 | cuddle | 182662
Saved, I can understand what you are feeling right now. In love as a Christian sister in the Body of Christ, I must ask, Why are you making exuses and looking for another brother or sister to give you permission to ignore the WORD of GOD? Hebrews 10:23-25 (NASB) Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful;and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near. Saved, I understand not wanting or feeling too tired, depressed, betrayed, and even angry to go to worship(church) I have been there. May I suggest you find another church to attend even outside the denomination you are accustomed to. It is unfortunate we can be hurt even by a body of believers, but that is a fact. We are all fleshly humans attempting to operate with a spiritual mind and it does not always happen. You are missing out, I was missing out, when I denied the opportunity and privledge to worship with my fellow brothers and sisters. No matter how tired you may be physically, you are giving victory to the enemy when you deny face to face worship and fellowship with the Body of Christ. They can be a source of energy if you allow them to be. I do not mean to sound harsh and uncaring. I do care. When I first joined this forum, I got off on the wrong foot and took some comments the wrong way and even lashed out inappropriately at some of them. Do you know they have sent me personal email that they had been praying for me and my family in their personal time with the Lord...(when we have MORE than needed it...you know who you are and THANK YOU AGAIN) no TV evangelist is going to pray for you by name in their personal private time with the Lord. I am not saying this forum is a substitute for church either, but it is better than the TV peeps. (most of them, there are some I believe to be genuine in their mission for the Kingdom of GOD) You will find many caring and knowledgable peeps on this forum, and I would guess you will receive many comments like this one that will not 'okay' your denial of fellowship (face to face) with the Body of Christ. In Love, Cuddle |

Very trivial question....I am considering Bible purchase. I love NASB, does anyone have any opinion of the Inductive Study Bible? It is a study Bible put together by Precept Ministries. I would appreciate in-put from those who have examined this study Bible, have used it, or currently use it. I am looking for comments on durability of the body as well. I travel quite often and I am 'hard' on a Bible. We all know how expensive buying a new Bible can be so in a nut shell, do you like the NISB layout and is the structure sturdy? Thanks, Cuddle |
