Sounds like those people do not understand what it means to love one another!
22 | I agree. How can we love one another...? | John 13:34 | Stultis the Fool | 128177
You wrote: "I would say that it is one of the primary reasons for gathering together, but not the only one." Considering Romans 13:8-10, what other reason might there be? Can you explain "Scripture also tells us that God has established certain 'offices' in the church. One cannot be under the ministry of these ministers unless one gathers together," within the bounds of Romans 13:8-10? Also consider 1 Corinthians 16:14 "Let all that you do be done in love." I do not disagree with the notion, but I believe it must be summed up as Paul presented the notion in Romans! You wrote: "My main point with these verses was simply that Scripture never pictures what some have called 'lone ranger Christians'. Christians are always spoken of as gathering together and doing certain things for 'one another'." I agree. How can we love one another if we insist on being a "lone ranger?" |

23 | Who do you love that you are unwill...? | John 13:34 | Stultis the Fool | 128175
Good verses, EdB... more of the same! The reason we ought to "equip" one another is because we ought to love one another. Who do you love that you are unwilling to "equip," and who do you "equip" that you are unwilling to love? Once again, we see Romans 13:8-10 in action! "Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. For this, "YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, YOU SHALL NOT MURDER, YOU SHALL NOT STEAL, YOU SHALL NOT COVET," and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF." Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law." |

24 | I married wrong woman,what can I do? | Bible general Archive 2 | Stultis the Fool | 128092
Don't fail. Do the right thing. Be the example, and exhort her to love. Convince her with your behavior and unyielding love to be the wife she ought to be: [1 Corinthians 13:4-13] "Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part; but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love" Consider Ephesians 5:1 "Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God." Consider Ephesians 5:25-31 "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansingher by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church, for we are members of his body. "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh."" Finally, put divorce far from your heart and mind: Matthew 19:6 "So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate." Mark 10:9 "What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate." Malachi 2:16 ""For I hate divorce," says the LORD, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with wrong," says the LORD of hosts. "So take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously"" Hebrews 3:8 "DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS AS WHEN THEY PROVOKED ME, AS IN THE DAY OF TRIAL IN THE WILDERNESS," Hebrews 3:15 "while it is said, "TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS, AS WHEN THEY PROVOKED ME."" Hebrews 4:7 "He again fixes a certain day, "Today," saying through David after so long a time just as has been said before, "TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS."" Hebrews 3:13 "But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called "Today," so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin." Finally, Hebrews 10:26-31 "For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgment and THE FURY OF A FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES. Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said, "VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY." And again, "THE LORD WILL JUDGE HIS PEOPLE." It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God." Again, Malachi 2:14-16 "Yet you say, 'For what reason?' Because the LORD has been a witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant. But not one has done so who has a remnant of the Spirit. And what did that one do while he was seeking a godly offspring? Take heed then to your spirit, and let no one deal treacherously against the wife of your youth. For I hate divorce," says the LORD, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with wrong," says the LORD of hosts. "So take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously."" |

25 | Who committs the unpardonable sin? | Matt 12:32 | Stultis the Fool | 128090
I believe that Both A and B are more than capable: Hebrews 10:26-31 "For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgment and THE FURY OF A FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES. For we know Him who said, "VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY." And again, "THE LORD WILL JUDGE HIS PEOPLE." It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God." Also Hebrews 6:4-8 "For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. For ground that drinks the rain which often falls on it and brings forth vegetation useful to those for whose sake it is also tilled, receives a blessing from God; but if it yields thorns and thistles, it is worthless and close to being cursed, and it ends up being burned." This matter, here pertaining to repetitious sacrifice, is concluded in Hebrews 9:27-28 "And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him." |

26 | Your thoughts? | John 13:34 | Stultis the Fool | 128072
Morant61... You quoted some excellent and VERY pertinent scripture. If we apply the idea behind each of the many passages you chose, to verses like Romans 13:8-10, "Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. For this, "YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, YOU SHALL NOT MURDER, YOU SHALL NOT STEAL, YOU SHALL NOT COVET," and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF." Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law." we find quite readily that there is no reason BUT that given in John 13:34 for us to assemble together. This thought is mirrored in Hebres 10:24 "and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds," which is directly contextual to fellowship. Your thoughts? |

The biblical reason (and plenty of folks attend service for plenty of personal reasons) to attend "Sunday Service" is the same for attendance of any service: Hebrews 10:24 "and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds," This is evidenced in 1 Corinthians 14:26 "What is the outcome then, brethren? When you assemble, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification." One definition of edify reads as follows: "to instruct and improve especially in moral and religious knowledge." Additionally, there are consequences if we are not stimulated to love and good deeds, and instead fall by the wayside, as in context in Hebrews 10:26-31 "For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgment and THE FURY OF A FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES. For we know Him who said, "VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY." And again, "THE LORD WILL JUDGE HIS PEOPLE." It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God." Does this help? |

29 | Can you explain your understanding? | Eph 5:25 | Stultis the Fool | 127923
Hmmm... I think you are missing the idea of how serious a statement Paul is making when he says "as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her" It is obvious that Paul is reffering to the crucifixion, and comparing a husbands duties to go so far as being nailed to a cross and killed for the one to whom you are married. Paul concludes this passage by reffering to the concept as a "great mystery." |

37 | From what scripture is this thought? | John 10:34 | Stultis the Fool | 127660
The children of our holy mother the Church rightly hope for the grace of final perseverance and the recompense of God their Father for the good works accomplished with his grace in communion with Jesus. From what scripture is this thought derrived? |
