21 | verse says no longer bound by old test? | Rom 8:1 | tortoise | 112142
No, we are not unrestrained by the law. Rom 6:1 makes that clear. Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? Rom 6:2 May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it? Rom 6:10 says, "For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. " Christ died to set us free from the law, remember, "no condemnation", see "once for all"? If you are not free from sin how are you free to serve God? Rom 6:22 But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life. Rom 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Is it not the gift that has set us free to serve God? Without the gift there is no freedom to serve God. John 8:36 "So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. |

23 | punishment | 1 Pet 5:5 | tortoise | 112043
Could some of our suffering be from the unpleasantness of the correcting hand of God? (See again Heb 12:11) 'Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity."' 2 Tim 2:19. Therefore, we choose to depart from sin and so be useful to the Master. "Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work." 2 Tim 2:21 |

However, there are right and wrong reasons for it. You can learn much ABOUT FASTING by doing a word study on fast. I only found 43 references in the Old Testament (KJV). You could do it in a half hour. Just ask the Holy Spirit to teach you.
25 | punishment | 1 Pet 5:5 | tortoise | 111881
He doesn't "punish" us but he does chastise, or rebuke, or correct us for our own good. Heb 12:3..."My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, or be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; For whom the LORD loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives". We even do this to each other: "All Scriptue is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work" 2 Tim 3:16-17 And then Heb 12:11 "Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been rained by it". Therefore does He not chasten us for our good?
