21 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | Rom831 | 30330
Oh, I have been called lots of things too. But the only one I claim is "Christian". (Ok, I actually like "follower of the way" too - Acts 22:4-NIV)
22 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | Rom831 | 30315
But the son previously had life, the was dead, and was alive again. So it wasn't just someone lost then found. And it doens't make sense that it was Jews/Gentiles because He doesn't use any of His comon analogies for them. Also, neither case fits the gentiles. They weren't always saved, neither were they saved, lost, and saved. And why would it be the Jews? What point would He have been trying to make? They were God's chosen, lost, then came back? No need for a parable there, that's not a lesson, just history. I agree there are other places to prove this as well. I just cant see any other reasonable or useful intrepretation of this passage. 23 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | Rom831 | 30314
Honestly, I know very little about Calvin and honestly don't have much desire to find out. I have not derived my belifes from him or any other preacher. Just based on making what I see to be to only conclusion possible based on the entire Bible. I had a friend on another board that would get a kick out of you calling my ideas Calvanistic though. He thinks I'm as armenian as they come. Me? I don't do labels. Bless...ArtS |

24 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | Rom831 | 30313
How does that make sense? The "father" told the grumbling son tat he had always been with Him. Is this true about the pharasies? Seems to me Jesus spoke of them harshly as vipers and such. Doesn't sound like someone who has always been near and dear to God. Bless...ArtS |

25 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | Rom831 | 30305
To your points: 1) makes no sense. How can you intrepret this as anything but salvation. The one immediately before talks about a sinner repenting and receiving salvation. The parable itself speaks of a man taking his inheritance from God and squanders it on earth (and isn't our inheritance salvation?). The next one goes on to show what happens when you choose to waste what God gives you, saying you cannot serve these earthly desires and God. In the parable, the son was alive, dead, then alive again. He had an inheritance that was his, from God. Only saved people have this. 2) Is it possible for us to restore him? No. Is it possible for him to restore himself? no. Is it possible for God to restore him? Matt 19:26 And looking at them Jesus said to them, "With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." Wit God, ALL things are possible. 3) Parables are he words of Jesus. That's good enough for me. 4) It doesn't say he stopped being a son, it says he became lost and dead. Either this happened when he turned from God, or Jesus left something out. I tend to believe He didn't. When did he regain his salvation? When he returned to God (we see this by the celebration that occurred as we are told in the parable prior to it would take place when someone is saved). Bless...ArtS |

26 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | Rom831 | 30304
First, just using common sense, the two brothers were equal, both with an inheritance coming from the father, the father representing God. So the son who left, was a child of God, not a child of Satan. Second, the verse reads "and has come to life again". "Again" means he was alive before. Then, when he tuned is back on God, he became dead. Then, when he came back to God, he was alive "again". Bless...ArtS |

28 | The Purpose of Hell? | Rom 9:20 | Rom831 | 29868
I agree. What I was poorly trying to say is that God doesn't just sit in heaven, point to some random person and say "condemned". We are saved or condemned based on if we have accepted Christ. The choice is ours. If WE believe, we are given God's grace and are saved. If WE do not, we are condemned because of that choice. Not simply because God picked us to suffer. Bless...ArtS |

30 | Please explain the Trinity. | John 1:1 | Rom831 | 29568
Huh? First, I don't get what that has to do with the thread topic. Second, what you are saying sure sounds like works and a lot more "enlightenment" than is taught. I'm saved by my faith in Christ despite myself. I'll never think like, act like or speak like Christ. I'm a flawed sinner, He wasn't. I can never even fully comprehend God little lone pretend to be like Him. He's God, I'm not. Bless...ArtS |

31 | WHICH COMES FIRST, THE RAPTURE OR TRIBUL | NT general Archive 1 | Rom831 | 29540
Thanks for your reply. It is very interesting. I guess I can kind of see this view and kind of agree. But, where would you put the events of Revelation? See, I believe these things (mostly) will occur before the rapture. In fact, I believe these are the same things I pointed to in the Daniel verses. In fact, I think they are happening right now. Where I think I differ, is in what we are terming things. I believe there will be wars (which always cause famines). I believe we will be persecuted more and more. I believe things are going to start getting worse and worse just as both the Matthew and Daniel verses say. But then, these days will be cut short and these things will end when Jesus appears (rapture). Then starts Revelations. Which is what I believe is the great tribulation. I see what we will be here for to just be the "birth pangs." Nothing compared to the 7 seal, trumpet and bowl judgments and three woes. Bless...ArtS |

32 | Please explain the Trinity. | John 1:1 | Rom831 | 29525
This is a TOUGH subject. The Bible never uses the word and only speaks indirectly towards it. Churches have debated this for ages. My wife and I don't even agree on it. But here is the best explanation I have come up with on my belief. Think of God the father, Son and Holy Spirit as three 7s: 7 7 7 Each of these 7s are identical, you cannot tell them apart. They have the same characteristics - they are all 7s. But you can tell by looking at them, that they are indeed three separate 7s. They are indeed the same, yet they are each distinct. So are the Father, Son and Holy spirit. They are all God, yet they are separate. Again, this is my view. My wife and my church believe differently (They'd say there was only one "7" and it just appeared in different forms) but this is WAY confusing to me and ends up portraying a schitzo Jesus. But that is MY opinion. Why is it so important? To me, it really isn't except that you believe Jesus is God and not just a man, or even a perfect man. Either view of the trinity I listed still believes that they are all God. Yeah, that's as clear as mud... |

33 | Bib Ref on weapons of war today being OK | Bible general Archive 1 | Rom831 | 29377
Also, when the soldiers come for Jesus, Peter uses his sword and cuts off one of the soldier's ears. Jesus does not rebuke him for having or using the sword, only for thinking that Jesus could not stop this if it wasn't meant to be. If weapons were wrong, Jesus would have told Peter so. 34 | How important is your Church? | Bible general Archive 1 | Rom831 | 29359
Me individually. My dad didn't have anything to do with church and my mom's idea of church was telling me I was going wether I liked it or not. We never spoke about God or church as a family. That is until my dad died and I have no idea if he was saved or not. Then I started talking about it with my mom. I didnt want her to die without me believing I would see her again. Bless...ArtS |

35 | How important is your Church? | Bible general Archive 1 | Rom831 | 29344
10 years? Only two. But before that, I jumperd around a lot. I started out in one where they taught "this is the way it is and if you don't believe it you're going to hell." That pastor would leave and we'd get a new intern pastor who said "this is the way it is and if you don't believe it you're going to hell." But it was different than what the last guy said. Then another intern and the same scenario. Most of the ones I attended after that I simply didn't agree with their doctrine. I couldn't find it supported in the Bible and moved on (this was Jr. High/Sr. High time). I finally found one that I didn't disagree with anything they preached. I stayed there for a number of years (until a new pastor came and started doing all kinds of things I didn't like). Then, looking back, I realized that the reason I had stayed is because they didn't teach anything I disagreed with. But that was because they didn't really teach anything. Sermons were about smoking, drinking, being mean or rude, etc. No Jesus anywhere. Now I have found one that pretty much sticks with the Bible. There are a few places doctrines come in, but for the most part, I simply just disagree (most of them are small). There you go! Bless...ArtS |

36 | God's anger at Babel tower, why? | Genesis | Rom831 | 29337
I'd agree. God instructs them to go forth and multiply (Gen 9:1). But instead, they decided to build a city instead so they would not be "scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth." (Gen 12:4) Bless...ArtS |

Yes we do. It means a ton. It is a gift Jesus gave us to remember Him by and to share in Him by. It is a tangable reminder that He lived and of the flesh and blood He gave to repay a debt I could never overcome. Bless...ArtS |

LOL, oh, you caught that post, huh? Have to admit maybe it wasn't in the best of taste, but I was only using my dictionaty and Thesaurus! Yeah, he posted about 50 of his "prayer" replies to my first post, but I thing the board host then banned him. Bless...ArtS |

39 | What does predestinated means | Ephesians | Rom831 | 29324
Sure we can. We cannot fully understand Him or His ways, but we can surely see that they are not ours. And we can see that He is not bound by the things He has created, such as OUR view of linear time. Then we can look at how things would be without the constraints of such hindering things. Bless...ArtS |
