There is no mention of an "age of accountability" in Scripture. My own personal feeling is that the sins of a child are not on the same level and motivation of those of an adult. God is Love! I'll leave the children question up to Him. Lengthy discussion would be human conjecture. To find out more about Sheol and Hades and Hell enter Sheol into the "quick search" box at the upper right of the screen. It has been well covered on this fine site. I would assume that those before Abraham were in Sheol until Jesus released them during his body's 3 days in the tomb. Perhaps someone else could answer this for both of us. God Bless, Jim. |

22 | Acts 10:39 "Tree or cross"? | Acts 10:39 | newoldstock | 192045
Hi, God's blessing to you. According to Roman historians, the Romans used a wooden cross made from a tree to execute those who committed crimes against Rome. It was also a practise to hang dead bodies of those killed in battle or for heresy against a ruler from trees and let them be picked over by the vultures as a deterent to others to not follow their example.
23 | Where is it written that Jesus said it? | Acts 10:46 | newoldstock | 101814
How about the "Great Commission"? Does this work? Matt 28:18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Matt 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Matt 28:20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Acts 1:8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." |

24 | To what "the baptism of John" refer? | Acts 19:4 | newoldstock | 93725
This verse is your answer. The "baptism of John" was a water baptism of repentence only. Preparing the way for Jesus to baptise with the Holy Spirit. |

25 | Baptized in whose name before Matt 28? | Rom 10:9 | newoldstock | 102759
If they met the criterion of Rom 10:9-10, they are now with Jesus even if they weren't baptized. Rom 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; Rom 10:10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
26 | Is | Rom 10:9 | newoldstock | 104769
This is your answer. This is what is required to be saved. However Jesus was fully man and fully God. Gnostics believed He was Sprit and not fully man. God Bless. Jim Rom 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; Rom 10:10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. Rom 10:11 For the Scripture says, "WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED." Rom 10:12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; Rom 10:13 for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED." |

27 | What can we learn from the Methodists? | 1 Cor 3:22 | newoldstock | 95812
What I learned: Bad: To agree to disagree. Committees can be very self-centered and politically motivated. How to run a large social club. How to run a large business. How to build a 13 million dollar church. How to entertain the masses. Introduction to Christian Universalism. Good: How to be saved and know it. Methodist Men's, women's and couples retreats are spiritual life changing adventures. Methodist ministers from Asbury are top notch. Good hierarchy ruling system. |

28 | How do we discipline church members? | 1 Cor 5:12 | newoldstock | 93434
BTW, if all the pastors of America asked all of the sinners to leave their church, how many members would be left?
29 | How do we discipline church members? | 1 Cor 5:12 | newoldstock | 93482
Couldn't holding Christians accountable for their actions and disciplining for these actions create gossip and backbiting amoungst the congregation? It was not the case in this situation, but suppose that the Deacon was a spouse abuser or worse and the man she moved in with was a relative or an old family friend. Well-meaning members could bring an indescretion to the attention of the pastor every day.
30 | What is meant by under the earth? | Phil 2:10 | newoldstock | 99411
Those who are dead and buried.
31 | God helps those who help themselves? | 2 Thess 3:10 | newoldstock | 94041
I've always kind of liked this verse, but it is not an exact match to the old saying that you quoted. Your saying, I believe, is not a quote from the bible.
32 | Is the bible literal? | 2 Tim 3:16 | newoldstock | 92853
J.M., do you mean should the bible be understood and followed literally today? If that is what you mean, the answer is yes! The bible is not allegory! There is good manuscript evidence and knowledge that we have God's word in our modern bibles. The original manuscripts are INSPIRED, INNERRENT, AND INFALLABLE. Even the words. God does not change.
33 | define the family Pew Hebrews 10:24-25 | Heb 10:24 | newoldstock | 103633
What version are you using to get 'family Pew"? I don't know where you are getting family Pew.
34 | Why do we have to go church | Heb 10:25 | newoldstock | 191831
The Bible says that we should not forsake "our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more, as you see the day drawing near," (Heb. 10:25). It is wise to go to church because that is where we can go to hear the word of God preached and to experience the friendship of other believers. |
