21 | man's tradition | Bible general Archive 2 | christian7 | 102642
I really couldn't say it is a traditon of men and I will let you know why I say this. One evening a jailor after waking up out of his sleep noticed that all the doors in the jail were open, and he drew a sword out to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had fled. But an apostle name Paul cried with a loud voice for the jailor to do himself no harm, that no one had left. That jailor found a light and came to the apostle trembling and fell down before Paul and his friend Silas and asked them "what must I do to be saved". I read about it in the book of Acts, Chapter 16. So I see in the Bible that sometimes people do "come up to" a man of God. Get down on the ground. And seek God. hope this helps some. God Bless |

22 | How did alter calls or invitations start | Bible general Archive 2 | christian7 | 102632
Jim: Reading from the journal of Sam Watkins in a book called “Company Aytch” I came across the following entry. While he was attending a revival that was in Dalton, Georgia he noticed many soldiers coming to the services nightly. It was a custom to call up mourners and a long bench had been placed in proper position for them to kneel down at. Ten of them were kneeling down at this mourner’s bench, pouring out their souls in prayer to God, Asking Him for the forgiveness of their sins, and for the Salvation of their souls, for Jesus Christ their Redeemer’s sake. Page 107. Written in 1863. This mourner’s bench has been around for a very long time in Southern history. At the Church I attend often, they have these benches in the front of the Church building and many come there to mourn almost every time I go. Some refer to this as an alter or an alter call. I have seen them since I started going to church and have even visited them a few times myself. I find that this is an excellent and wonderful place to come and pray and mourn and there are others that come to join with you and just let you know you’re not alone in your battles. I have also been to churches that don’t have this bench. The understanding there is that you can settle or pray right where you are (which you can) and its just between you and the Lord with no one else knowing. I thank God for both. God Bless |

23 | How can Caiaphas see Jesus' return? | Rev 1:7 | christian7 | 102597
Dear Listener: According to scripture all shall see Him coming in the clouds. Jesus was prophesying of what the high priest had read in Daniel 7:13. I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. This was telling the high priest that He was the Christ, God in the flesh and to call yourself God was blasphemy. Unless of course that you are God and Jesus is. KJV Matthew 24:30 30. And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. KJV Mark 13:24-26 24. But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, 25. And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. 26. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. KJV Revelation 1:7 7. Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. I hope this helps some. If not I will try to explain in more depth. God Bless |

24 | Just a thought. What's yours? | 1 Cor 11:18 | christian7 | 102463
George; as I have been a part of this forum for a time I have noticed that some have proven themselves approved. Not causing division, but staying totally focused within context and proving certain teachings to be consistant throughout the word of God. These members have been of great value to me and are rooted, and grounded, and stand firm on the word of God regaurdless of who enters our forum. Post that help me to grow. Answers that help me to answer others. I praise God for them. You will see if you haven't already, the many that enter in through another door, that are not sheep of our fold. Only to cause division and confusion. Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof. These my friend, I must turn away. This is a great forum, but you asked for my thought and I will reply with all honesty. If I went to a church where people carried on like what happens on here I would pull my hair out and a few of the others also. :) .Lord knows I need what little I have left. 1Corinthians 11:17. Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse. 18. For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it. 19. For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you. God Bless |

This is a prophesy of when the Caldean Army comes against them how easily they will fall. Isaiah 30:15. 28 | Insufficient grace? | Luke 14:26 | christian7 | 101635
Seeking4truth: You were told correctly. It is by Jesus that we have forgiveness of sins and access to the Father. I wonder if the pastor told you about repentance, and turning away from your sins. If he didn’t I am certain that you know it by now. When we turned from our past and began a new life we needed direction. The bible tells us therefore being justified by faith; we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Peace witch passes all understanding must come at some cost to us. When we sin after our conversion the peace immediately feels diminished. We understand that Jesus paid the price for our sin and that by trusting in Him we will eventually make it to heaven. But there is something new in us that make us want to do the things that are pleasing to Him. God sends us His Comforter, the Holy Spirit and it leads us in this new direction. The desire to do the things that we once thought were right (our understanding being darkened) no longer feel that way. Again it is not because we can do good enough to get into heaven but for the peace to remain that we felt when we got saved we start to look at what is pleasing to Him. If you are living a certain way because of any other reason than you desire to, it is my guess that it wouldn’t have lasted long at all. So now comes the question, how can I live in a way that is pleasing to my Lord? Enter 180 degrees and start to live by what we do or don’t do. Did I mention that we were bought with a price? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. It is the work of the Holy Spirit that makes us want to live different than we lived before and if we don’t have that desire living inside of us we need to check our salvation. Is He powerless to keep us clean and pure before God after we become saved? No He is not powerless at all, oh that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your heart by faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God. Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. God Bless |

trulee6 I just want to share a few scriptures with you on the freedom or liberty we have as Christians. If you stand on the Holy Word of God you will find that we are free to worship where ever we feel the true teachings of Christ Jesus is being taught. If a friend of mine for example were to tell me I can't go to a certain church because I belong to this certain church when the Church is the body of Christ anyway, then it would be the same teachings that cults teach. That is how many cults teach so that their teachings stay without question. God's freedom allows us to go to different churches. I go to a Baptist church for example and visit a "Church of God" every once in a while and it bothers my pasture none at all for the true teaching is that we have freedom to serve God. Unless someone has something to hide from you about thier teachings then why wouldn't they mind you going to visit another church? It is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that saves, not a denomination. KJV 2 Corinthians 3:17 17. Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty KJV Galatians 5:1 1. Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. KJV Galatians 5:13 13. For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. KJV 1 Peter 2:16 16. As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. Now we know that the Word of God is true and His Spirit dwells within us, and His Holy Spirit will lead us closer to Him. So I encourage you to not be tossed around in the different teaching but to see the Truth of God where ever you go to visit. God Bless |

And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the Lord's anointed, and be guiltless? 10. oneness holy..... The people were rebeling against God. They seen how the other nations were and they were God's people set apart to be different. But wanted to be like the rest of the world. As you have stated, They were wrong. KJV 1 Samuel 8:7-8 7. And the Lord said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them. 8. According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee. KJV Exodus 16:8 8. And Moses said, This shall be, when the Lord shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the Lord heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the Lord. KJV 1 Samuel 8:22 22. And the Lord said to Samuel, Hearken unto their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said unto the men of Israel, Go ye every man unto his city. God Bless |

richpick.....I pray these verses help you. Have you read the book of Job? Would you like to be forgiven for everything you have ever done wrong? We are saved from all our sins by grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. No one understands all of what God has done but there is one thing we can understand and that is God loves us and has made a way for us to come to Him through His Son Jesus Christ. Here are some answers to your questions and welcome to Bible Study Forum. KJV Ezekiel 28: 13. Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the Beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. 14. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. 15. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. 16. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. 17. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. 18. Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. 19. All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more. Isaiah 14:12. How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13. For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14. I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. 15. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. KJV Romans 9:20-21 20. Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? 21. Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? Job 38:2. Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? 3. Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. Serving God is not an easy way it is a straight and narrow way. God didn't even spare His own Son Jesus from pain and suffering. How much more should we not endure for all He has done. God Bless |

35 | What happened to the USA??? | Deut 12:8 | christian7 | 96377
Darcy I would say that we are still the most blessed country in the world. We have freedom to go to the House of God which Jesus called the house of prayer each and everytime the doors are opened. We lift up our Lord and Savior and pray for our country and its leaders. They feed my children at school a healthy lunch and teach them reading, writing, and arithmetic. I have a great job that the Lord gave me wich allows me to keep a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs, and food on the table. I don't even have to walk to work for I also have a car. I have the right to bear arms and the right to freedom of speach without some dictator having me killed for it. The USA like the rest of the world is coming to a judgement day. The real question is...How will I stand on that day? KJV Ephesians 5:11-12 11. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. 12. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. God Bless |

36 | Remarriage Continual Adultery? | 1 John 1:8 | christian7 | 96019
dat....I would first like to say that others on this forum may be able to help you more on this but I feel that it is important that you know something. Sin is an act of doing something. You nor I can continually do something. If it were stealing for an example, we could steal something but we can't continually steal. We are under a period of Grace. God forgives us when we ask and turn away from what we are doing wrong in our lives. If you have already remarried you can't undo that. You just have to start from where you are. Lets take your question. To say that the Lord won't forgive you for making a mistake in getting a divorce to someone is a lie. God still forgives. Then you went and married someone else and His word says that Matthew 5:32.But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. Now God is Truth and to do this is commiting Adultery. So you married again. The sin is committed. Now whats done is done and you can't act like it didn't happen, or go back and change anything. Now to divorce again would be going back to where you started to begin with. This is where Grace steps in. We all make mistakes and God is ready to forgive us when we come to Him with a sincere heart and confess our sin. Once we do that He cleanses us from all unrighteousness. The enemy tries to tell you that your domed for hell, but Jesus says come unto me. You have to recieve your forgiveness from the Lord and move on. God understands everything and knows you personally and will in no wise cast out those that come to Him. You just have to trust His word. The answer to your Question is NO! God is the Judge of who gets into heaven. You would just have to refuse Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior to miss heaven. 1 John 1:8. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Matthew12:31. Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. Acts13:38. Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: 39. And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. Ephesians 1:7. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; God Bless |

37 | how can i pray in the Holy Ghost? | 1 Cor 12:13 | christian7 | 96003
1 Corinthians 12:13. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. smarley....It means that you are not faking your relationship with the Lord..That you are honest in your approach to the Lord. Alot of times people will think because otheres are doing something that you must be doing it as well but that doesn't seem to be the case with you and that is very admireable...Tounges is a gift from God and as gifts differ from person to person it does not mean that the person who has one gift and not the other is not filled with the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:8. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9. To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10. To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: Romans 8:26.Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. If God has filled you with His spirit dont be discouraged about not having a heavenly language, for it doesn't make you any closer or futher away from Him. God Bless |

38 | What can we learn from Christ? | Gal 5:22 | christian7 | 95897
Well my Friend I am glad you asked....lucky for you you only asked for some for I could write for days of the good and praisewothyness(if thats a word) of our Lord. He is good because not only did He save me from an eternal hell but He delivered me from the stronghold that the enemy had on me. When I praise Him its because He gave me a praise not just because the bible says to praise Him. To be honest I praised Him before I read what the bible had to say. He cut the shackels of bondage to alcohol off of me, He delivered me from stocks of drug addiction, He gave me hope and a promise of a future I thought I could never have, He set me feet on solid ground and restored my family to me, He held my hand when I was alone and affraid and didn't know what tomorrow was going to bring, he showed His mercy to me when the Judge could have put me away, He gave me the strength to quit smoking after I had tried so many years to do it on my own, He touched me where I had a void in my life and filled it so much that it still flows from me today, He gave me His word in a little book called the Bible, He is everything to me. What are some things we can learn from Him? Hebrews 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; That even He learned through the things he suffered Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. I am His and He is mine and whatever goes wrong in this life he will strengthen me to make it through..... I Praise Him with all that a person can praise. God Bless |

39 | What are urim and thummim? | Ex 28:30 | christian7 | 95338
biblesearcher... This is all I could find on thummim and I have heard different views as to what would occur when the Urim and Thummim were used but I would only conclude that whatever it was exactly I know not. I know it helped the Priest in making deccisions from the Lord. I am sure some of the others here in the forum could probably help you more on this. Text: perfection (LXX., "truth;" Vulg., "veritas"), Ex.28:30; Deut.33:8; Judg.1:1;20:18; 1 Sam.14:3,18; 23:9; 2 Sam.21:1. What the "Urim and Thummim" were cannot be determined with any certainty. All we certainly know is that they were a certain divinely-given means by which God imparted, through the high priest, direction and counsel to Israel when these were needed. The method by which this was done can be only a matter of mere conjecture. They were apparently material objects, quite distinct from the breastplate, but something added to it after all the stones had been set in it, something in addition to the breastplate and its jewels. They may have been, as some suppose, two small images, like the teraphim (comp. Judg. 17:5; 18:14, 17, 20; Hos. 3:4), which were kept in the bag of the breastplate, by which, in some unknown way, the high priest could give forth his divinely imparted decision when consulted. They were probably lost at the destruction of the temple by Nebuchadnezzar. They were never seen after the return from captivity. Easton's Bible Dictionary. God Bless |

if the queston is "Are we supposed to" I would say I find nothing that says we are supposed to donate organs. Now if its a question of is it alright to donate organs I find no scripture to support giving any more than John 15:13. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Now Paul had this to say about being preserved wholly. 1 Thessalonians5: 23. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. these are the only 2 verses I can think of right now but I will continue to see if I can find more on this subject, as I do give blood to help out when I can.
