102 | Baptism was a church ordinance? | Luke 1:17 | christian7 | 52348
the Baptism that John was doing...John being the only one who was doing this...had the religious Pharisees in an uproar because people were supposed to go to the Synagogue to have the Priest remove thier sins...John was preaching baptism for the repentance of sin (Luke 3:3) and the religious leaders wanted to know by what authority he was doing this...if you will notice MOTHERPHILO even as Jesus was praching that these leaders wanted all the attention brought to them and to no one else...anytime someone threatens thier position they get upset...but I would also like to add that when the truth is spoken that it always stops them in their tracks...I love the way that God's word says that God resist the proud and gives grace to the humble...they were just to proud...(James 4:6)... I hope this helps a litle more...God Bless you MOTHERPHILO and keep studying
103 | Why the question in John 1:25? | Luke 1:17 | christian7 | 52337
John being filled with the Holy Spirit from his birth(Luke 1:15)did not attend the schools to study under the Pharisees and they wanted to know who gave him this authority...or who he was...in the Old Testament you will find these scriptures Mal.4:5,6 refering to Elijah... Deuteronomy 18:15,18 refering to Christ or the Prophet...and please look at John 4:25...John never said that he was anything but a VOICE but Jesus said in Mat.11:11-14 that John was Elijah also please look at Luke 1:17 which shows that John was in the Spirit of Elijah or Elias which is the same as Elijah... I hope this helps you some...may God Bless you MOTHERPHILO and keep studying your doing a great job

105 | "Strong and courageous, its meaning! | Josh 1:6 | christian7 | 52326
in the world we live in lovejoy..... with all the ways we can turn....the LORD wants us to stay true to His ways....this takes strength and courage...stength to say no when everybodyelse is doing it(even though its wrong)confident to know that even though somethings may seem harmless to do ...that if God says not to do it there is some reason behind it...the enemy has a way of trying to get us off to the left or to the right(verse 7)and God knows that so HE wants us to be strong for Him...courage to stand up for whats right when others say its ok just do it...courage to let your friends know that something that they are doing is not right...its not easy to be a leader, following is simple...making choices for God that others will follow takes alot of strength and courage but the LORD says that when we do this that we will be both prosperous and have good success...May our Lord Jesus Christ give you all the strength and courage that you need to do His will in your life Lovejoy...God Bless

107 | Im starting to understand | Rom 8:1 | christian7 | 52269
the bondage that Jesus was speaking of was the bondage of sin(verse 34)so they were servants of sin because that they were not accepting the freedom from sin that Jesus was trying to offer them.for whom the son sets free is free indeed (verse 36) if you and I were owners of slaves, and I was your father and you were my son, because we are family as my son you have the right to , by my authority,to set one or all of our slaves free. Its a right that your father gives you.Now Jesus was sent by the Father to set the servants of sin free. For who the son sets free is free indeed but one thing you have to understand is that Jesus says if you countinue in my word(verse 31) but by the time we get to verse(37)Jesus says my word has no place in you. They try to convince Jesus that they are the sons of God but Jesus says by verse(42)that if God were thier Father that they would love Him(Jesus). These are people that refuse to accept Jesus as Gods son. The result is that they are in bondage to sin, refusing to accept the only way to the Father(Jesus) and without Jesus to forgive there sins they are bound to thier father the devil(44)who refuses to and would not live in the truth.Praise God that those of us that accept the son are free from the bondage of sin.You and I could be in slavery which is bondage but our bondage to sin is set free.I hope God continues to bless you Pcarr and keep you studying His Word ...

The Passover is about having the blood aplied so that death passes over you...blood of a spotless lamb...JESUS CHRIST....it is all about Jesus and the power of His blood...if the people did not have the blood then it was the same as not believing God the result DEATH wow I am glad I have the blood of Jesus aplied to my life the result...eternal life and a promised city God bless you Pcarr
