21 | excuses | Gal 5:17 | TheCurtMan | 114455
Excuses is something that man has been good at since the fall of man. Gal. 5:17 kinda gives the indication that the Christian, in the flesh, will oppose the work of the Holy Spirit and lead the believer toward sinful behavior. In v.16. we are told to walk in the Spirit. If we're walking in the Spirit, are we going to offer God any excuses about our Christian responcibilities?? According to Matt. 6:31-32, God is aware of our NEEDS, and He will provide for them. In v.33 it says "Seek ye FIRST, the Kingdom of God and His righteousness" In my book, the word first kinda toss whatever the excuse is out the window. My wife wanted me to go with her to our Church's 35th Anniversary. Today was the only day I'll have off for two weeks. Of course I wasn't going. My things-to-do list was overwhelming, plus I had deadlines to meet. Of course she reminded me of my Christian and Husbandly Responcibilities. Of course I suited up and went. The CurtMan |

23 | Is Satan Jesus' brother? Gen 3:15 | Gen 3:15 | TheCurtMan | 114438
Hello Tara 1, Please forgive me for butting into this, but I just happen to be skipping through when I noticed your questions. I'd like to take a stab at them if I may. Satan is not Jesus' brother. Gen. 3:15 is a reference between Jesus and satan, but nothing within this verse is relating them two as brothers. Elohim, which is one of God's many names, is also used for Idols-Exodus 34:17-"You shall make no molden gods for yourselves."(NKJV) It is used of Men-Psalms 82:6-I said, "You are gods, and all of you are children of the Most High". It is also used of Angels-Psalms 8:5- For You have made him a little lower than the angels. (FYI: The word angels in this verse was translated from the Heb. word Elohim) Is Satan an Angel?? Yes, he started out as one of God's Mightest Angels high on the Chain-of-Command. He became fat headded, egotistical, prideful. Lost his position, I guess you could say he was 'terminated'. Took a third of the angels of heaven with him. Check out Isa. 12:9-15 and Rev. 12:7-17. And as far as Lucifer's orgin, check out Col. 1:15-18. Hope this helps TheCurtMan |

24 | HOW DO WE GROW IN FAITH | 2 Pet 1:3 | TheCurtMan | 100404
It just so happens that your question is the main topic of our Sunday School Lesson this very Sunday. It’s also taken from the exact same verse. I’m already out of time so I’ll make this as breif as possible. 2 Peter 1:3 says, “Seeing that His divine power has granted to us EVERYTHING pertaining to life AND godliness…” What we need to grow in faith, we already have. See Faith must be more than a belief in certain facts; it must result in action, growth in Christian Character, and the practise of moral discipline, or it will die according to James 2:14-17. 2 Peter 1:4-9. Read It; Study It; and Practice It. It is the answer to your question. The CurtMan |

25 | Can this be applied to todays war? | Deut 20:1 | TheCurtMan | 100169
Ras, It appears that I need to ask your forgiveness on a matter in reference to a question you posted on Deuteronomy 20:1. I still hold my viewpoint on the matter. My argument was never that the promise was not for the Israelites, my focus was more on what I believed was the reasoning of the promise; NEVER TAKE OUR FOCUS OFF OF GOD NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCES, for He is ALWAYS with us. However; it appears that many disagree with me. The possibility exists that I could be wrong and might have misled you. For this, I ask your forgiveness. Misleading someone intentually or unintentually is nerver a good thing. It is better to resolve this with you now, than with God later. Just for the record, the overall viewpoint on the matter is as Seacher56 said. The CurtMan |

26 | Can this be applied to todays war? | Deut 20:1 | TheCurtMan | 99682
Yeah, I believe it could be. Granted that this verse was for the Israelites, and they had certain rules of engagement that they were expected to follow when going to war. However, I believe that the concept of this is that we should always keep our focus on God no matter what the circumstances. Hebrews 13:5-6 (NKJV) ".....I will never leave you nor forsake you. 6. So we may boldly say: The Lord is my Helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?" Because of this promise, Christians can be content in EVERY situation. Even if we are severely out numbered by our enemies. As a street brawler, my enemies' number was of great concern; But as a Christian, I no longer have that concern. Everyday I'm surrounded by non-believers who want to make an example out of me because of my position in Christ, this is my war and I no longer worry about it. Because of this promise I know that God is with the individual, and they have nothing to fear. However; rather God is with the entire army depends on where that entire army is with God. So can Deuteronomy 20:1 be applied to todays war?? In my opinion, ABSOLUTELY! The CurtMan |

27 | Were Women ever Crucified? | Matt 23:34 | TheCurtMan | 99666
Hey Justme, very interesting question. I’m personally not aware of any scripture that specifically says that a woman was ever crucified, but I believed that they were. Simply because I’m not aware of any place in scripture where a woman escaped the consequences of her actions simply because she was a woman. Now there’s one for the Women Libbers. A question regarding the parable of the Landowner (Matt. 21:33-39). If the vinedressers killed the landowner’s Son, any reason to believe that they wouldn’t do likewise to the Son’s servants, in likemanner regardless of their gender?? The CurtMan |

28 | Explain spiritual gifts ? ? | 1 Corinthians | TheCurtMan | 99491
Spiritual Gifts: I Corinthians 12:8, Wisdom: Knowledge: Faith: Healing: Miracles: Prophecy: Discernment: Tongues; and the Interpretation of Tongues Romans 12:6, Prophecy: Ministry: Teaching: and Exhortation I believe we are talking about a total of 12 Spiritual Gifts altogether. According to I Corinthians 12:4-11 The Holy Spirit distributes these gifts to the Children of God as He wills. I believe that every believer has a Spiritual Gift. Do you know what yours is?? These gifts are for the edifying of the body as a whole and not for the edifying of the individual. It is for the glorifying of God and not for the glorification of the individual. In the Corinthian Church, the usage of these gifts was causing problems. They were not being used properly and for the right reason. In chp. 14 for example the Gift of Tongues were not being done decently and in order. But notice what Paul believes the Greatest Gift is. I Corinthians 13:1-13. The CurtMan |

29 | Comfort Zone? | Num 28:11 | TheCurtMan | 98839
What is a Comfort Zone?? In my book a Comfort Zone is a place where Christians get where they are comfortable with the way that things are. Where they worship; How they worship; Who they associate with. Getting them away from this can be difficult at best.. They are just use to the way that things are. For example: A church sister of mine has a fifteen year old son. They were going to be evicted. They were making plans of going into a shelter. There are many Brothers and Sisters in our congregation with big house and large basements. Those who had the room to spare didn’t offer to put the Sister up because it was too much of an inconvience to them. They like living by themselves, and didn’t want to deal with the inconvience of having someone else living there with them, and with a teenager too? Funny thing is; it was the people who really didn’t have the room to spare who offered shelter. So for them it was REALLY an inconvience. And by the way, if you’re being ridiculed, belittled, battered and raped because of your convictions, be thankful, maybe you are flexing your spiritual muscles, and exercising. Some Christians have gotten to the point where it is too much of a effort to be ridiculed, belittled, battered and raped for their convictions. They are nolonger fighting the good fight with all their might. The CurtMan |

30 | Is "Once Saved Always Saved" scriptural | Phil 1:6 | TheCurtMan | 98833
Once Saved Always Saved is a much-discussed topic on this forum. On the left hand side of your screen towards the top, is a yellow box marked ‘Search’, click it. Make sure the ‘Answers to questions’ box is the only one checked. Then go to the bottom to ‘contain these Words’ and type in ‘Once Saved’, then hit ‘Search’ just up under that. Please allow yourself some reading time. Personally speaking, I believe that once a person is saved, that person is ALWAYS saved. I believe this because of Romans 8:1, “There is therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:34-38, “who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. 35. Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36. Just as it is written, ‘For Your sake we are being put to death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.’ 37. But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39. Nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” In short order, I believe this passage of scripture is saying that God has acquitted us, Jesus is our advocate and intercedes for our behalf; and there is absolutely nothing in Heaven or Hell, created or otherwise that can separate the Children of God from the love of God. So then how can we loose our salvation?? Then there is John 10:28-29, “and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. 29. “My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.” If loosing our salvation is even remotely possible, there is a problem with this verse, because we will perish, and something was able to remove us from the Father’s hand. In reference to Hebrew 6:6, “and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance…” You might want to try reading v.4-6. In this case it is strongly believed by many, myself included, that these people were never really saved in the first place. They were being directed by the Holy Spirit, who point people in the direction of Christ, but rather we accept salvation or reject it is our choice. They rejected it. Jesus said, “I Am the Bread of life” John 6:35; He said, “I Am the Light of the world” John 8:12; He said, “I Am the Door” John 10:7; He said, “I Am the Resurrection and the Life” John 11:25; and He also said, “I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. And the people in Hebrew 6:6 rejected everything He said, rejected everything the Holy Spirit showed them, and went back to life as they knew it. I do not believe that they were ever really saved in the first place. Which means they did not have Salvation to loose. The CurtMan |

31 | Does God love everything? | 1 John 4:8 | TheCurtMan | 98152
You know, I think that there will be many that strongly disagree with me on this one, but yeah. I think that God still love the adversary inspite of all that he’s done and will do. The reason I believe this is because in the Sermon on the Mount. Matt. 5:43-45 (NKJV) Jesus said, “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven…” Now why would God command us to love our enemies when He hates His?? That one just ain’t adding up on my calculator. We are suppose to follow the commandments of the Lord, we are suppose to love our enemies and He isn’t doing it Himself. I’m having a hard time with that one. God is Love, I John 4:8. I’m under the impression that the only thing that God does not love is SIN. In this case that is an act against God. What ever happened to the belief that we are suppose to Love the sinner, and Hate the sin?? The CurtMan |

32 | Are we ready? | 2 Tim 4:2 | TheCurtMan | 98148
I personally do not believe that convenience has influenced the church as much as the adversary has through lazy and selfish Christians who are to involved with self to come out of their comfort zone to aid anyone. I believe that Paul was commanding Timothy to be ready in season and out of season to live Godly (which includes preaching the word), inspite of the opposition that all Christians will face. The first 5 verses of chp. 3 will give you some idea of what some of those oppositions were. Being ready at all times, looking for every opportunity to serve the Lord, to share His Word with others DO NOT INCLUDE SETTLING INTO A COMFORT ZONE. Abraham was uprooted and told to go to Canaan. Moses found out that he was a Hebrew; and if Jesus ever had a comfort zone other than doing the will of the Father, than I am unaware of it. As far as what our response should be, at present the best that I could suggest is prayer, for the worker. The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. The CurtMan |

33 | What are a few characteristics of of God | Genesis | TheCurtMan | 98016
What are a few characteristics of of God in Genesis?? I like your question. Unfortunately I’m short on time so I’ll do the best that I can in the time allowed. The characteristics of God in Genesis. God is a Triune God. Gen. 1:26 He is a Provider. He provided for the physical needs of Adam. “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat”. Gen. 2:16. He provided a way of escape for Noah. Gen 6:13-22. He is a Protector. He protected Adam and Eve from the pain and suffering of living forever in Gen 3:22-24. This verse can also be used to show that God is a God of Mercy. Can you imagine how Adam and Eve would feel if they were still living today?? God is a Righteous Judge who condems sin. Gen.3:13-19 and Gen.6:13 Last but not least, God is a God of Love, which is why He is a Provider; a Protector; Merciful; and a Righteous Judge. I can actually go on with this one all day, but my time has expiried. If you don’t mind me asking, what’s the purpose of this question?? The CurtMan |

34 | in GEN.1:26 who is GOD talking to? | Gen 1:26 | TheCurtMan | 97973
Who was God talking to?? Himself. The Godhead is made up of three separate but distinct individuals. God the Father: God the Son; and God the Holy Spirit. Go back to Genesis 1:1 and do a study on the word God. Then compare it to John 1:1 and Gen. 1:2, you’ll get the impression that there was more than a single individual present at creation. Gen. 1:26 is one of those verses that Christians use to show that the Godhead is triune. God in Three Persons. The CurtMan |

Actually, I’m thinking of two verses. 36 | What family planning method is good? | Ps 127:3 | TheCurtMan | 97857
Greetings Mobisa, Actually, I would say that none of the options that you presented are good. Psalms 127:3-5 (KJV) Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is His reward. 4. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. 5. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate. Psalms 139:13-14 (KJV) For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. 14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. I'm under the impression that abortion is an antibiblical, selfish solution to a situation that mothers today do not want to be bothered with for whatever reason. The CurtMan |

37 | What can we learn from Christ? | Gal 5:22 | TheCurtMan | 95836
Hello Hank, how have you been?? How about the seven Fruit of the Spirit?? Each peace of this one fruit is a christian characteristic trait that needs to be learned and devoloped within our lives. And the very fact that He's willing to help us to devolop it is praiseworthy within itself. Rather than to ask what is good and praiseworthy in the Lord, which in my book would be EVERYTHING, wouldn't an easier question be what isn't good and praiseworthy in the Lord?? The CurtMan |

38 | FAITH? | 1 Pet 1:7 | TheCurtMan | 95766
Well gee, I’d personally like to tell you to pray for it and God will open up the windows of Heaven and strengthen your faith overnight. Unfortunately it doesn’t work that way. According to I Peter, as gold is heated, impurities float to the top and can be skimmed off. Steel is tempered or strengthened by heating it in fire. Likewise, our trials and tribulations refine and strengthen our faith. In my personal walk. I found out that the more troubles I had, the more I wanted to God; the more I wanted to trust God the easier it became to trust Him. Besides, He has all the answers anyway. The CurtMan |

39 | What do you like about the ... church? | 1 Cor 3:22 | TheCurtMan | 95762
What do you think is good and praiseworthy in say, the Roman Catholic Church? I work in a Catholic Hospital, and what I notice about the church is their dedication to Christ. Their strive to follow the teachings of loving and honoring one another. The Nuns go to the patient’s rooms and share Christ with them or share the patient’s burdens. They do what they can for the patients. They feed the hungry; clothe the clothless; and shelter the homeless. There’s morning and evening prayer everyday. And of all the surrounding hospitals within this city. I’ve noticed that the Catholic Hospitals are the only ones who haven’t laid employees off. James 1:21 says, “Be ye doers of the word and not hearers only….” Our Lord and Savior had much to say about how we are to treat one another. Matt 7:12 says, “In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you….” NASB. The CurtMan |
