Dear Ruth30..Welcome to the Forum:-) You wrote, "which apostle did jesus say was an israekite without god???", but the word "israekite" is not found in the Bible. Second, are you certain that Jesus was speaking of an Apostle being "with out god"? If you will provide a little better information the Forum will be better able to answer your question. 23 | unaffordable annulllment-How to? | Bible general Archive 1 | Jensen | 21949
Dear Anglo38-LL...There are scripture verses that cover most, if not all, areas of our lives. We can disagree on those ares where the Bible is not exhaustive. For example EX 20:13 "You shall not murder." is pretty clear. Most orthodox Christians would agree that there are clear directives, or guidelines, for when a marriage may be discharged by means of a divorce. Those reasons are given by Jesus in MT 5:31 "It has been said, "Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce." 32 But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery." Since the term "divorce" is commonly understood today to be a legal term, the word annulement may be better suited and substituted in the verse above because Jesus was addressing the things that are God's and not the things that are Cesar's. This is also the position of the Roman church. If two people were married in the sight of God, in His church, there are issues they must consider that bear directly on their walk with the Lord. I understand that a person may go through a "church wedding" and not yet be saved. I was one of the many who did just that. But I believe today, since being saved, that God did indeed here our prayers and the prayers of others on that day, that my marriage be blessed by Him. To better help answer the question perhaps you would consider providing more details. What, exactly, is it that you can not afford? Are you speaking of financial issues or issues relating to the person's relationship with God. The time elapsed since a legal divorce may be irrelevant since we are studying the Bible for answers. However there is an issue of estrangement. The Bible will answer "what should they do?" and this Forum may help with the answer if provided a little more detail. God Bless....Jensen |

24 | are there innocent victims in the bible | Bible general Archive 1 | Jensen | 21957
Dear Jordan...Sin is responsible for all death and destruction. Sin is the reason that innocent people had to die. Sin is why bad things happen to good people. Except for the work of the Cross, none of us are innocent. Here are a couple of Biblical characters that considered themselves innocent in both the legal and the moral sense. MT 27:24 When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. "I am innocent of this man's blood," he said. "It is your responsibility!" JER 26:12 Then Jeremiah said to all the officials and all the people: "The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and this city all the things you have heard. 13 Now reform your ways and your actions and obey the LORD your God. Then the LORD will relent and not bring the disaster he has pronounced against you. 14 As for me, I am in your hands; do with me whatever you think is good and right. 15 Be assured, however, that if you put me to death, you will bring the guilt of innocent blood on yourselves and on this city and on those who live in it, for in truth the LORD has sent me to you to speak all these words in your hearing." 25 | When did the catholic church go wrong? | Bible general Archive 1 | Jensen | 25873
The Roman Catholic Church teaches that Peter was the first Pope. Therefore the first error was by the first Pope. Paul opposed Peter on doctrine. Paul was correct, the Pope was in error. GAL 2:11 When Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he was clearly in the wrong. 12 Before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group. 13 The other Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas was led astray. Technically, this was where the Catholic Church made the first error. But it was corrected. Let us pray that the other errors will be corrected soon. By His Grace.....Jensen |

30 | Is John 3:16 for real? | Bible general Archive 1 | Jensen | 28424
Dear Dan...A couple of months back you wrote.. "The disciples debated much about who would receive the greatest rewards in the upcoming Kingdom of God. If the Jews, or the disciples, could have merited salvation through self-effort, then Jesus would have died in vain. Those of us who revel in the knowledge of the grace of God know better than that. Our salvation is the gift of God - not of works." If you can fathom the gift of Grace, then you understand well that all deserve destruction. 31 | Engaged and want to find a church? | Bible general Archive 1 | Jensen | 29725
Dear Child of God....Welcome to the Forum...Your question indicates that you each have a seperate church home. As a couple, you probably attend services at each church. Eventually, if your marriage is to be a success, the biblical idea is that the man would make the choice, since he is to be the spiritual leader of the house. The man is responsible. My suggestion is that you do not cut ties with your home churches just yet. Get to know each others home church and you will discover more about each other. It is your home church that provides the support you will need leading up to the day you are united. Once you are married then you may want to discuss the home church issue. But not just yet:-) God Bless....Jensen |

32 | Is it a sin to marry outside your race? | Bible general Archive 1 | Jensen | 30274
Dear Samson....Welcome to the Forum. You have been offered pertinent Scripture verses. I want to add only that there is, biblically, only one race. We all came from Adam/Noah. It is evoultionaty thought that allows for more than one race. Evolution is the Big Lie. No one can give a single biblical verse that remotly discusses race as it is understood today. Marry a Christian regardless of the "race" and you will do well. God Bless....Jensen |

33 | BEING A WITNESS AND NEEDING DELIVERANCE | Bible general Archive 1 | Jensen | 34427
Dear Alice…Welcome to the Forum :-) You asked two questions. Both are a matter of definition. So let us start with the definitions. According to Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary WITNESS….. 1 : attestation of a fact or event : TESTIMONY 2 : one that gives evidence; specifically : one who testifies in a cause or before a judicial tribunal 3 : one asked to be present at a transaction so as to be able to testify to its having taken place 4 : one who has personal knowledge of something 5 a : something serving as evidence or proof : SIGN b : public affirmation by word or example of usually religious faith or conviction *the heroic witness to divine life— Pilot* And DELIVERANCE…. 1 : the act of delivering someone or something : the state of being delivered; especially : LIBERATION, RESCUE In a Christian manner of speaking we could say that a testimony may lead someone to be rescued. Testimony, or witnessing, is also a way to encourage believers. God has done some pretty wonderful things in the lives of individuals. Telling the story of the event or that life changing or enhancing episode brought about by God (miracles etc.) would be giving a WITNESS in the testimony sense of the word. Testimonies, therefore, are given to believers and non-believers alike. Once a non-believer becomes a believer he has been rescued or DELIVERED from the eternal separation from God. (Some would say that the non believer would be delivered from going to hell, and some would let it be enough to say separation.) DELIVERANCE is rescue. We are delivered to God through His Son, our Savior Jesus. I hope this helps. Hang in there. Others will soon give more on the topic. God Bless….Jensen |

34 | Church of Christ doctrine | Bible general Archive 1 | Jensen | 40877
Dear Grace...You ask a very good question and you will be offered various perspectives. Here is a perspective from the Christion Research Institute. I copied it in its entirety with additional links. God bless....Jensen CRI PERSPECTIVE CP0604 IS THE CHURCH OF CHRIST A CHRISTIAN CHURCH? Some Christians believe that the Church of Christ promotes non-biblical teachings and practices. Is the Church of Christ a Christian church? The Church of Christ movement originally arose in the hopes of promoting unity among all Christians, but it eventually ended up separating itself from other Christian groups. Although the Church of Christ movement is basically Christian, it's difficult not to categorize certain factions as aberrant because of some of their more extreme doctrines and practices. Of all its beliefs, the Church of Christ movement is perhaps best known for its view that water baptism is absolutely essential for salvation. This is no doubt a "sub-biblical" view of baptism. Acts 10:44-48, for example, records that Gentiles were filled with the Holy Spirit (and therefore saved) before they were baptized. Water baptism is certainly a normal part of becoming a Christian and a member of the church; nevertheless, it's still possible to be saved without having been baptized -- especially when circumstances make baptism very difficult if not impossible (cf. Luke 23:39-43). Now, some of the more extreme factions within the Church of Christ movement go even further, and argue that anyone who views baptism differently from them is not a Christian and is, therefore, lost .. even if that person has been baptized! There are also reports that heavy-handed tactics are employed by a number of more extremist groups within the Church of Christ. The Boston Movement, for example, which evolved from a similar movement at the Crossroads Church of Christ, is probably the most well-known of these authoritarian groups. Both movements were rejected by the mainline Churches of Christ. This particular group goes so far as to say that other segments of the Church of Christ movement are non-Christian and will face eternal damnation. And so, while the Church of Christ movement is orthodox in many of the essentials of the faith, it is plagued with a very loud segment whose views are so extreme that developing any type of Christian fellowship with them becomes almost an impossible task. But remember, don't throw the baby out with the bath water; there are many within the Church of Christ movement who are committed Christians. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION Available through CRI is a Fact Sheet on the various groups and beliefs within the Church of Christ (DO600/0.25). 35 | Church of Christ doctrine | Bible general Archive 1 | Jensen | 41654
Dear Grace....Please note this quote taken from the post of Raven to you. Raven Wrote... "In short the church of Christ is not a denomination. It is the the church that Jesus Christ said He would build and as best as possibe we try to do as the bible commands. Read Rev 22:8-19." Does that statement sound like a claim to be exclusive and therefore the only church that is built by Christ? Many members believe this. That they are the only true Church and the rest of the worlds Christians are wrong...and some members believe that if you are not a member....well... you will not be saved. Not all..but many. But the study itself is the reward of the study. But if you are simply eager with questions then you have come to right place :-) God Bless....Jensen |

39 | Adam, Eve, plants, animals - what order? | Genesis | Jensen | 19883
Dear Steve....Genesis 2 does not present a different creation order than Genesis 1. The first three verses of Genesis 2 simply carry the narrative of chapter 1 to its final and logical conclusion, using the same vocabulary and style as employed in the previous chapter. It sets forth the the completion of the whole work of creation and the special sanctity conferred on the seventh day. Verse 4 then sums up the whole sequence that has just been surveyed by saying, "These are the generations of heaven and earth when they were created, in the day that Yahweh God made heaven and earth." As we examine the remainder of Genesis 2, we find that it concerns itself with the description of the ideal setting that God prepared for Adam and Eve to begin their life in, walking with the Lord as responsive and obedient children. Verses 5-6 describe the original condition of the "earth" or "land", in the general region of the Garden before it had sprouted under the special watering system the Lord used. Verse 7 introduces Adam as a new occupant for whom Eve was prepared. Verse 8 records how he was placed there to observe and enjoy the beauty. Verses 9-14 describe the various trees and vegetation sustained by the water that flowed out of Eden to the lower regions beyond its borders. Verse 15 indicates the activity of Adam that was assigned to him as keeper. The first 15 verses of chapter 2 were never intended to be a general creation narrative. The animals are not even mentioned untill Adam is assigned his task (vv.18-20). But before this phase of Adams experience begins, he is brought into a covenant relationship with God, who grants him permission to eat the fruit of every tree in the Garden except one (vv.16-17) The structure of Genesis 2 was never intended to be a creation account at all, except as it related to the circumstances of man's creation as a child of God. Chapter 2 is built upon the foundation of chapter 1 and represents no different tradition than the first chapter. I hope this helps. Do not be surprised by Adams ability to name all of the animals in a short period of time. Since the fall everything has been deteriorating including our brains. Our capacity to think has been greatly diminished. It was Thomas Acquinas who said that our minds were exempt from this breaking down but the Bible says that all creation is affected. I relate this naming of the animals to todays computer speeds. It may just have been that our computers are no faster than Adams brain. You have heard that we use only a small percentage of our brains. We lose ability not gain it. Our tools are better not our brains. God Bless....Jensen |

40 | Having problems with my faith. | Genesis | Jensen | 34436
Dear Chynna...You are not having problems with your Faith. You may have a problem with understanding the Biblical idea of stewardship. You Wrote... "Most christians I speak with view animals as things God gave us to do with however we please"... but that means that Christians who want to please God will be good stewards of His Creation. That includes animals. Christians do not “please” to abuse animals, or any other part of Creation. But the Creation is here for your use. And you Wrote... "But how does an animal lover accept God's choice of animal sacrifices..." .....which is close to saying that animals are the equal of men(people)when they are clearly not. An “animal lover” may not accept animal sacrifice but an OT people of God would. An “animal lover” may not subscribe to eating meat but a NT Christian would see no harm at all. Which comes first in your own life will be determined by your understanding of the position you occupy in His Creation. Your issue(s) with animals will be resolved when you come to the full understanding that God loves all of His Creation and each part has a “role” to play. Even His Son had a part to play and surely the crucifixion of a guiltless man will give more pause than the death of any animal. Your heightened concern with animals may be misplaced or misdirected. You were an "animal lover" before becoming a Christian. There may have been a moral equivalence instilled in you through a government school. Was there a government teacher that encouraged you along the path of Pantheism? (God, if there is one, is everywhere and is in everything. All life is equal. A boy is a tree is a pig.)Being a good steward for all of His Creation is Biblical, but we are to use what God gave us. Do you remember Peters Vision? Why would God tell us in Acts 10…. “11 He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. 12 It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air. 13 Then a voice told him, "Get up, Peter. Kill and eat." …if we were not to use His Creation for our own maintenance. In the OT animal sacrifice was a way to maintain a relationship with God. He said to do it. Start with the Knowledge that if God said it, it must be Good. Now go out and persuade the world to your knowledge of the Truth. Do not start with an idea of the world (pantheism) and then try to adjust God to it. God Bless….Jensen |
