22 | Why was Cain's offering not acceptable? | Gen 4:5 | Cyclist | 47050
Greetings ploon! Welcome to the forum! Most of all though, Welcome to the family of God! I am Cyclist. With my whole heart will I bless the Lord! Bless the Lord oh my soul and all that is within me! Bless His Holy Name! This is an excellent question. I've pondered this myself before as have many. I, however, could find no scriptural cross references for this verse. There are others on this forum that have done a lot more studying and searching than I have. Maybe they will provide a better answer. I've concluded the following: Obviously there was a long period of time between verses 2 and 3. At that time God talked directly to Adam and Eve. As you read the Bible further you will see that God instructed His people to offer up animal sacrifices to Him. I believe that God had instructed Adam and Eve and their children to bring to Him offerings of animals. I also believe that, since there was this period of time between vs 2 and 3, that Cain made offerings in accordance with God's commandments before this one. It may be that Cain thought that he could get one over on God. It may be that since Cain was a tiller of the ground that he would've had to hunt an animal for the offering and was being lazy. After all, the Word of God does say that Cain did sin. Sinning is disodeying God's commandments. Gen 4:1 - 7 are posted below. Hope this helps, only what I believe though. Please let me know if you find a better answer based on scripture. Your brother in Christ Jesus, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! Gen 4:1 Now the man had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain, and she said, "I have gotten a manchild with the help of the LORD." Gen 4:2 Again, she gave birth to his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of flocks, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. Gen 4:3 So it came about in the course of time that Cain brought an offering to the LORD of the fruit of the ground. Gen 4:4 Abel, on his part also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of their fat portions. And the LORD had regard for Abel and for his offering; Gen 4:5 but for Cain and for his offering He had no regard. So Cain became very angry and his countenance fell. Gen 4:6 Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? Gen 4:7 "If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it." |

24 | Can Pareyr change God's plan? | Ex 32:14 | Cyclist | 54187
Good Morning daffy! Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised! How wonderful are His mercies! How marvelous are His works! Praise be to Jesus Christ who thought not of Himself but gave His life for the sins of the world! Praise Him! Praise Him! Very good question. I 've pondered this myself. I look forward to seeing some the postings on this. For now though, I find at least four recorded accounts in the Old Testament where prayer changed what God said He was going to do. See: Exodus 32:9-14, Psalms 106:40-45, Jeremiah 26:18-19, and Amos 7 the entire chapter. Again, I look forward to reading some of the postings by our more knowledgable forum members because, like yourself, when I read Romans 9 I see that God has pre-destinated and pre-ordained everything. Hope this helps a little, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

25 | How long did it take them to reached the | Num 32:13 | Cyclist | 87083
Greetings neal! With my hands lifted up, with my mouth filled with praise, and with a heart of thanksgiving I will bless the Lord my God who created the heavens and the earth and the seas and all that there is therein! Praise the name of the Lord! I don't exactly know, and I don't know of anywhere in scripture where there is any indication of how long it would have taken the Isrealites to get to the promised land had they not wondered through the wilderness. Numbers 13 tells of them spying out the promised land for the first time. It took them forty years. Read through Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers and you will find out why God made them wonder through the wilderness. Num 32:7 "Now why are you discouraging the sons of Israel from crossing over into the land which the LORD has given them? Num 32:8 "This is what your fathers did when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land. Num 32:9 "For when they went up to the valley of Eshcol and saw the land, they discouraged the sons of Israel so that they did not go into the land which the LORD had given them. Num 32:10 "So the LORD'S anger burned in that day, and He swore, saying, Num 32:11 'None of the men who came up from Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob; for they did not follow Me fully, Num 32:12 except Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua the son of Nun, for they have followed the LORD fully.' Num 32:13 "So the LORD'S anger burned against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until the entire generation of those who had done evil in the sight of the LORD was destroyed. Joshua led them into the promised land. I hope this helps! Blessings to you in Christ Jesus, our Lord and savior, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

26 | What prophet wept over another mans face | 2 Kin 13:14 | Cyclist | 51144
angelface, Cyclist here! All praise and glory and honor be to God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ who died for our sins! Praise Him forever more! Do one of these verses contain what you are searching for? (KJV) 2 Kings 8:10,11,12 10And Elisha said to him, "Go, say to him, "You shall certainly recover.' However the LORD has shown me that he will really die." 11Then he set his countenance in a stare until he was ashamed; and the man of God wept. 12And Hazael said, "Why is my lord weeping?" He answered, "Because I know the evil that you will do to the children of Israel: Their strongholds you will set on fire, and their young men you will kill with the sword; and you will dash their children, and rip open their women with child." (KJV) 2 Kings 13:14 Elisha had become sick with the illness of which he would die. Then Joash the king of Israel came down to him, and wept over his face, and said, "O my father, my father, the chariots of Israel and their horsemen!" Your brother in Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

27 | Why should we obey God? | Psalm | Cyclist | 64096
Whatever, All praise and Glory and Honor be to God our Father who created the heavens and the earth and the seas and all that there is therein, all things seen and unseen, not made with hands, and, to His Son Jesus Christ who thought not of Himself but gave His life a ransom for our sins! Welcome to the Forum! If you are just visiting, Thanks for stopping by! This is a great place to study and learn about God's word! Just to add to mbooker's very good answer, I found in the New Testament, in John 15, some verses that give very good reason to obey God. I've listed a few but the entire chapter is good. Please read it and let me know what you think. John 15:4 "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. John 15:5 "I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. John 15:6 "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. John 15:7 "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. John 15:8 "My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. John 15:9 "Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. John 15:10 "If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love. John 15:12 "This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. John 15:14 "You are My friends if you do what I command you. In the Love of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

28 | Where in the bible is... | Ps 22:3 | Cyclist | 81666
Greetings japii! I will praise the LORD my God while I live! I will praise the LORD my God every day! I will praise the LORD my God for His love and for His mercy and for His grace! I've heard these also: "God lives in the prasies of his people" and "When praises go up, blessing come down." I did an extensive search on these in the word of God. I found this verse in the KJV: "(KJV) Ps 22:3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel." Here is one example from the old testament where God blessed His children when He was praised: "(NASB) 2 Chr 20:20 They rose early in the morning and went out to the wilderness of Tekoa; and when they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Listen to me, O Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, put your trust in the LORD your God and you will be established. Put your trust in His prophets and succeed." 2 Chr 20:21 When he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who sang to the LORD and those who praised Him in holy attire, as they went out before the army and said, "Give thanks to the LORD, for His lovingkindness is everlasting." 2 Chr 20:22 When they began singing and praising, the LORD set ambushes against the sons of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; so they were routed." I have never been able to find anything in scripture worded this way: "God lives in the prasies of his people" and "When praises go up, blessing come down." Maybe some one else here on the forum can help us if they know of any other scripture that we missed. Blessings to you in Christ Jesus our LORD and Savior, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

Dear Denyse, All prasie and glory and honor to God our Father and to Jesus Christ who gave Himself for our sins! Below is a very good posting by Makarios form 2/20/02 that contains Scripture references. It was an answer to a similar question. (The tallest man in the world had a mother and a father! Even Goliath had a place of origin (Gath) and fathered offspring. In no way are the Nephilim the product of a union between fallen angels and human women. A much better question to ask is: How do you come to the conclusion that fallen angels can procreate with women since demons are described as 'evil SPIRITS' (Matthew 8:16, 12:43-45, Mark 6:7), and angels of ANY order are not given in marriage to each other or to any created thing? (Matthew 22:30, Mark 12:25, Luke 20:35) Demons (or fallen angels) can possess an individual, but they themselves cannot procreate with another individual. Also, if demons (or fallen angels) could ever procreate with women, then how do you justify such an action, since demons are the adversaries of men? (Matthew 12:45) - Makarios) Welcome to the forum! Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

33 | Service to others - service to God? | Matt 20:28 | Cyclist | 73146
Mommapbs, Be exalted above the heavens, O Lord our God; Let Your glory be above all the earth! I will sing the glory of His name and make His praise glorious! My mouth is filled with His praise! And with His glory all day long! OK dear sister, I am going to take a stab at this. This looks like a wonderful and thought provoking subject! You write: "Is service to others the same as service to God?" Answer: Matt 25:31 "But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. Matt 25:32 "All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; Matt 25:33 and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left. Matt 25:34 "Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. Matt 25:35 'For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; Matt 25:36 naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.' Matt 25:37 "Then the righteous will answer Him, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? Matt 25:38 'And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? Matt 25:39 'When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' Matt 25:40 "The King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.' You write: "When is it different?" Luke 10:29 But wishing to justify himself, he said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" Luke 10:30 Jesus replied and said, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers, and they stripped him and beat him, and went away leaving him half dead. Luke 10:31 "And by chance a priest was going down on that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Luke 10:32 "Likewise a Levite also, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. Luke 10:33 "But a Samaritan, who was on a journey, came upon him; and when he saw him, he felt compassion, Luke 10:34 and came to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and he put him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn and took care of him. Luke 10:35 "On the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I return I will repay you.' Luke 10:36 "Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers' hands?" Luke 10:37 And he said, "The one who showed mercy toward him." Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do the same." Rom 14:16 Therefore do not let what is for you a good thing be spoken of as evil; 1 Pet 2:12 Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God in the day of visitation. You write: "Is it important for believers to be aware of this?" James 1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. I refuse to walk a cripple into a tavern or house of ill-repute, etc... but if he/she falls on the sidewalk in front of it or on the way to it, I will go to their aid in the name of Jesus Christ. Bleesings to you dear sister! Your brother and friend in Christ, David I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in mouth! |

Hello Luke! Cyclist here! I will bless the LORD at all times! His praise shall continualy be in my mouth! A 73 year old preacher, who has since gone to be with the Lord, told it to me this way. "If it ends up to be as the unbeliever says and we are wrong for our belief in Christ as our Savior, we still have nothing to loose. For as we are instructed in the Word of God, we think about things that are true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, of good repute, excellent and things that are worthy of praise. We have a happy heart most all of the time! Our conduct is that of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentlness and self-control. We do not kill or steal. We do not sleep with another's spouse. We obey the laws of the land. We mean no one any harm. But if the unbelivers are wrong, they have everything to loose, even if they do, by nature, those things that are good and acceptable. For they shall perish in the lake of fire for eternity because they believed not that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world." Rev 20:10 And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. In the love and in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, I look forward to gaining you as a new brother! Always in Christ, Cyclist |

39 | How do we have a good prayer life? | Luke 2:37 | Cyclist | 59466
Greetings justme! All praise and glory and honor be to God our Father, and, to our Lord Jesus Christ who gave His own life for our Sins. Praise the Lord! Hope all is well with you. I like your question and I wanted to share with you how I pray. Now I'm sure you know me by now justme, that I am not one who has spent any time reading books or Bibles with commentary by theologans or philosiphers or any other for that matter, not that I shouldn't be, I just haven't. In fact, other than reading that is nessesary for my job, I have read only the KJV and The Living Bible all of my Christian life. I've just now started to read a "Study Bible" that provides commentary on some scripture. I write all of that to point out that I am definately not an expert. Now let me stop wasting space and time and answer your question with my own opinion and experience. I am either praising or praying to my God the day long. Just like the widow in Luke 2:37, I pray continually, about everything in my life. It is important to me, as Paul writes in 2 Cor 10:5, that every thought be brought under the obdience of Christ. You see, I believe, and ask, the Father's guidence in every single situation or event in every single day, and yes, I do have to ask forgiveness sometimes. Who else could be a better guide than the Father. To me, my opinion only, this is prayer, and, I never stop! I also added the Merriam-Webster definition of "pray". Sorry for the long post. Your brother in Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! Luke 2:36 And there was a prophetess, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years and had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, Luke 2:37 and then as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the temple, serving night and day with fastings and prayers. "Marriam - Webster" Main Entry: pray Pronunciation: 'prA Function: verb Etymology: Middle English, from Old French preier, from Latin precari, from prec-, prex request, prayer; akin to Old High German frAgEn to ask, Sanskrit prcchati he asks Date: 13th century transitive senses 1 : ENTREAT, IMPLORE -- often used as a function word in introducing a question, request, or plea (pray be careful) 2 : to get or bring by praying intransitive senses 1 : to make a request in a humble manner 2 : to address God or a god with adoration, confession, supplication, or thanksgiving |
