22 | Is Christmas wrong for Christians? | Gal 5:21 | Cyclist | 69578
FirstLadyK, All praise and glory and honor to God our Father who sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ! Blessed be the Lamb of God who is Jesus Christ forever! WELCOME to this forum! If it be wrong to celebrate Jesus Christ our Savior (His birth and ressurection), then I am wrong every day! According to the BIBLE the celebration of the Savior is encouraged. However, I would point out to you that the way one celebrates should be in the spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ. See the scriptures below. Especially 5:21 with regard to drunkeness. Bless you! Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in mouth! Gal 5:19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, Gal 5:20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, Gal 5:21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, Gal 5:23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. |

24 | Replies to a vulgar comment. | Eph 5:4 | Cyclist | 67129
Dear TomBrooklyn, All praise and glory and honor be to God the Father who created the heavens and the earth and the seas and all that there is therein, and, to His Son Jesus Christ who died for our sins, who's name is named above every name in heaven and in earth! Welcome to this forum! Below are scripture references. I do not know what kind of forum the comment appeared on, but, it certainly has no place here on this one! If you need to ask about this sort of thing again on this forum, please write something like "Some made a comment on another forum that is not proper, using words that really shouldn't be said or written." Thank you in advance! That being said (written), this forum is a GREAT place to study and learn more about God's word. Eph 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; Eph 5:2 and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma. Eph 5:3 But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints; Eph 5:4 and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. Eph 5:5 For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Blessings in Jesus Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

26 | Why should we obey God? | Psalm | Cyclist | 64096
Whatever, All praise and Glory and Honor be to God our Father who created the heavens and the earth and the seas and all that there is therein, all things seen and unseen, not made with hands, and, to His Son Jesus Christ who thought not of Himself but gave His life a ransom for our sins! Welcome to the Forum! If you are just visiting, Thanks for stopping by! This is a great place to study and learn about God's word! Just to add to mbooker's very good answer, I found in the New Testament, in John 15, some verses that give very good reason to obey God. I've listed a few but the entire chapter is good. Please read it and let me know what you think. John 15:4 "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. John 15:5 "I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. John 15:6 "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. John 15:7 "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. John 15:8 "My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. John 15:9 "Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. John 15:10 "If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love. John 15:12 "This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. John 15:14 "You are My friends if you do what I command you. In the Love of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

27 | women should keep silent in church | 1 Cor 14:34 | Cyclist | 63257
Wilme, I will praise the Lord my God for He is Loving and kind and just and merciful! He alone is worthy of praise, for, He gave His only begotten Son for our sins, blessed be the name of the Lord forever! I believe that your question is in reference to these verses: 1 Cor 14:34 The women are to keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but are to subject themselves, just as the Law also says. 1 Cor 14:35 If they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to speak in church. At the top of the page you will see a "search" for questions on notes and verses. Type in "1 Cor 14:34". Just my suggestion but click on the thread where the question is posted by kalos dated 8/23/02 "women keep silent in churchs"? there are some very good postings to help explain this. There are other threads as well. And let me extend a hearty Welcome to the forum! This is a GREAT place to study and learn about God's Word! A few suggestions if I may, Use the "QUICK SEARCH" (upper right of the page) and the "QUESTION/NOTES ON VERSES and QUESTION/NOTES ON WHOLE BOOKS" (top of the page). 28 | Can belief be excluded from exegesis | Ephesians | Cyclist | 62409
Brother John, It is good to give thanks to our God! Thank you Father for all of the wonderful things that you do! Thank you Father for ginving Your only begotten Son who gave His life for our sins! To be honest with you, I had to look up the defenition of "exegesis". That will tell you how much of an expert I am on theology. My answer is yes dear brother, and, as far as an explanation, I will let the scripture speak for itself. Eph 4:1 Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, Eph 4:2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, Eph 4:3 being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Eph 4:4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; Eph 4:5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, Eph 4:6 one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. Eph 4:7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ's gift. Eph 4:8 Therefore it says, "WHEN HE ASCENDED ON HIGH, HE LED CAPTIVE A HOST OF CAPTIVES, AND HE GAVE GIFTS TO MEN." Eph 4:9 (Now this expression, "He ascended," what does it mean except that He also had descended into the lower parts of the earth? Eph 4:10 He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, so that He might fill all things.) Eph 4:11 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, Eph 4:12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; Eph 4:13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. Eph 4:14 As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; Eph 4:15 but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, Eph 4:16 from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love. Always your brother in Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

christian7, I will praise the Lord because He alone is worthy! I will sing praise to my God because He is loving and kind and merciful! I will praise my Lord because He saved me! My question to you is if you leave what will become of this forum? Will people like myself who are growing in Christ miss out on your knowledge of the Word and leading of the Holy Spirit of God? I have not had the pleasure of reading all of your posts but I thought you gave some good answers on the subjects of "owning expensive things" and "marriage to an unbeliver". Were your answers and posts challenged that often? I really don't know. I am speaking only for myself, but, If you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, this forum needs you. Blessings to you always, whether you decide to leave or stay. Your brother in Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

Hi Pastor Glenn! Cyclist here. I'm not Hank but I was thinking on this subject his morning. In my studies on this subject, I saw these verses of scripture that, to me, challenge that notion that God has predestined people to perish (Capitalization by me). 2 Cor 4:3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 2 Cor 4:4 in whose case THE god OF THIS WORLD has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. Bless you Pastor! Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

33 | angels | Matt 8:16 | Cyclist | 60668
Dear Denyse, All prasie and glory and honor to God our Father and to Jesus Christ who gave Himself for our sins! Below is a very good posting by Makarios form 2/20/02 that contains Scripture references. It was an answer to a similar question. (The tallest man in the world had a mother and a father! Even Goliath had a place of origin (Gath) and fathered offspring. In no way are the Nephilim the product of a union between fallen angels and human women. A much better question to ask is: How do you come to the conclusion that fallen angels can procreate with women since demons are described as 'evil SPIRITS' (Matthew 8:16, 12:43-45, Mark 6:7), and angels of ANY order are not given in marriage to each other or to any created thing? (Matthew 22:30, Mark 12:25, Luke 20:35) Demons (or fallen angels) can possess an individual, but they themselves cannot procreate with another individual. Also, if demons (or fallen angels) could ever procreate with women, then how do you justify such an action, since demons are the adversaries of men? (Matthew 12:45) - Makarios) Welcome to the forum! 34 | How can anyone be saved? | 1 Cor 2:14 | Cyclist | 60315
Dear brother John, I will give thanks to the Lord my God, with all my heart, And will glorify His name forever! Praise the Lord! I know dear brother that this must be a "trick" question. Your previous postings give you away as being fully knowledgable of the scriptural answers to your question. Or, Are you looking for a particular answer or some healthy discussion? When you use the word "can" in your question, does it relate to someone's ability to be saved? If so, we know the answer to that already, salvation is a free gift from GOD. 36 | How do we have a good prayer life? | Luke 2:37 | Cyclist | 59466
Greetings justme! All praise and glory and honor be to God our Father, and, to our Lord Jesus Christ who gave His own life for our Sins. Praise the Lord! Hope all is well with you. I like your question and I wanted to share with you how I pray. Now I'm sure you know me by now justme, that I am not one who has spent any time reading books or Bibles with commentary by theologans or philosiphers or any other for that matter, not that I shouldn't be, I just haven't. In fact, other than reading that is nessesary for my job, I have read only the KJV and The Living Bible all of my Christian life. I've just now started to read a "Study Bible" that provides commentary on some scripture. I write all of that to point out that I am definately not an expert. Now let me stop wasting space and time and answer your question with my own opinion and experience. I am either praising or praying to my God the day long. Just like the widow in Luke 2:37, I pray continually, about everything in my life. It is important to me, as Paul writes in 2 Cor 10:5, that every thought be brought under the obdience of Christ. You see, I believe, and ask, the Father's guidence in every single situation or event in every single day, and yes, I do have to ask forgiveness sometimes. Who else could be a better guide than the Father. To me, my opinion only, this is prayer, and, I never stop! I also added the Merriam-Webster definition of "pray". Sorry for the long post. Your brother in Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! Luke 2:36 And there was a prophetess, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years and had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, Luke 2:37 and then as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the temple, serving night and day with fastings and prayers. "Marriam - Webster" Main Entry: pray Pronunciation: 'prA Function: verb Etymology: Middle English, from Old French preier, from Latin precari, from prec-, prex request, prayer; akin to Old High German frAgEn to ask, Sanskrit prcchati he asks Date: 13th century transitive senses 1 : ENTREAT, IMPLORE -- often used as a function word in introducing a question, request, or plea (pray be careful) 2 : to get or bring by praying intransitive senses 1 : to make a request in a humble manner 2 : to address God or a god with adoration, confession, supplication, or thanksgiving |

37 | What does "In the name of Jesus" mean? | John 14:14 | Cyclist | 56973
Kalos, From the rising of the sun to it's setting, I will praise the Lord! I will always be thankful to my God for delivering me from a life that was sending me to eternal damnation! Praise be to you Lord Jesus for dying for my sins! Kalos, I am somewhat of a fool to worldly wisdom, and, display a certain level of immaturity, as a Christian, in most of my postings. I am thankful to God for the wisdom He has graciously given to me when needed. I must say that in my "narrow mind" that I am somewhat confused by your posting on John 14:14. In fact, I feel somewhat "flogged" because I end most of my prayers by saying "In the name of Jesus, Amen." I usually end them this way though: "In the name of Jesus Christ, your only begotten Son, who died for my sins and the sins of the world, blessed be His name forever." You write: 'Ending prayers with that phrase might do nothing whatsoever to the efficacy of your prayer. I even submit that it might be hurting your prayer, depending on what you mean by the phrase.' It appears that you were quoting someone, were you? This part of the post hurts a little. Is this, or anything else in your posting, inspired by revelation or the Spirit of the living God, or, is it man's wisdom? What about my prayers, and the prayers of countless others who ended their prayers "In the name of Jesus, Amen." and had prayer answered? What about these events in the New Testament where "In Jesus name" was spoken? Acts 3:6; 4:10; 18:16; 19:5; 1 Cor 1:10; 1 Cor 5:4; 2 Thes 3:6. Although I have learned much from postings by you, and, have been encouraged by them as well, I was, and, am sad, a little confused, and, as I wrote before, feel as though I have been "flogged" for ending prayers "In Jesus name, Amen." Are these postings of the spirit of edification? Are they of the spirit of God? Are they "In the name of Jesus"? I really enjoyed Hank's posting on "The Lord's prayer". Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

39 | Can Pareyr change God's plan? | Ex 32:14 | Cyclist | 54187
Good Morning daffy! Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised! How wonderful are His mercies! How marvelous are His works! Praise be to Jesus Christ who thought not of Himself but gave His life for the sins of the world! Praise Him! Praise Him! Very good question. I 've pondered this myself. I look forward to seeing some the postings on this. For now though, I find at least four recorded accounts in the Old Testament where prayer changed what God said He was going to do. See: Exodus 32:9-14, Psalms 106:40-45, Jeremiah 26:18-19, and Amos 7 the entire chapter. Again, I look forward to reading some of the postings by our more knowledgable forum members because, like yourself, when I read Romans 9 I see that God has pre-destinated and pre-ordained everything. Hope this helps a little, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

40 | Is God selfish? | Rom 9:20 | Cyclist | 53798
Greeting CURIOUS! This is the day that the Lord has made! I will rejoice and be glad in it! Please forgive me for this short answer but I've been very busy. Not that I could give the best answer to your question, there are others on this forum who I consider to be my elders and give very, very helpful answers, but, I noticed that an answer was not yet submitted to you. I don't know about you but I am kind of impatient and look for a quick answer, so, here you go. Verse 20 especially Rom 9:11 for though the twins were not yet born and had not done anything good or bad, so that God's purpose according to His choice would stand, not because of works but because of Him who calls, Rom 9:12 it was said to her, "THE OLDER WILL SERVE THE YOUNGER." Rom 9:13 Just as it is written, "JACOB I LOVED, BUT ESAU I HATED." Rom 9:14 What shall we say then? There is no injustice with God, is there? May it never be! Rom 9:15 For He says to Moses, "I WILL HAVE MERCY ON WHOM I HAVE MERCY, AND I WILL HAVE COMPASSION ON WHOM I HAVE COMPASSION." Rom 9:16 So then it does not depend on the man who wills or the man who runs, but on God who has mercy. Rom 9:17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, "FOR THIS VERY PURPOSE I RAISED YOU UP, TO DEMONSTRATE MY POWER IN YOU, AND THAT MY NAME MIGHT BE PROCLAIMED THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE EARTH." Rom 9:18 So then He has mercy on whom He desires, and He hardens whom He desires. Rom 9:19 You will say to me then, "Why does He still find fault? For who resists His will?" Rom 9:20 On the contrary, who are you, O man, who answers back to God? The thing molded will not say to the molder, "Why did you make me like this," will it? Rom 9:21 Or does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for common use? Rom 9:22 What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction? Rom 9:23 And He did so to make known the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory, Many blessings to you in Christ Jesus my Lord! Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |
