Dear nsgrace, You will find the aforementioned verse in Isaiah 61:1. A really good study-bible website is blueletterbible.org It has many useful tools. Dictionaries, a Strong's concordance, and commentaries from such scholars as Charles Spurgeon and Matthew Henry. It is well worth your time. 22 | Is Jesus the merchant... ... | Matt 13:45 | 2ndSamuel22 | 47256
Greetings, Rivertree. I hope I can be of help. Read on to v.46. I believe Jesus is the pearl, and we are the merchants. The KJV says in v.45, "the kingdom of heaven is like UNTO a merchant man seeking goodly pearls"[emphasis mine], meaning the merchant is seeking goodly pearls, and finds one, that being the kingdom of heaven. When we find the pearl, Jesus(or, when God lays upon us the spirit of conviction, and we turn to Him), we find the kingdom of heaven. We then sell all we have(in other words, we give up all our worldly ways), and receive Him. That's how I read it. He will 2nd Samuel 22:26-28 |

23 | THREE WAYS TO BE SAVED? | John 1:12 | 2ndSamuel22 | 51292
Greetings Kimmy!! For the complete plan of salvation from God's own Word, read Acts 16:29-31--- Acts 16:29 And he called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas, Acts 16:30 and after he brought them out, he said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" Acts 16:31 They said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household." If you want to say three things are necessary, then rememer ABC: Admit you are a sinner Believe Jesus died for you Confess His name Slavation is a gift from God. When have you ever had to give someone something in order to receive a gift? If you have, then it is not a gift. And if you have to go through a bunch of rituals in order to receive the gift of salvation, then it is not a gift, and God is a liar(Which we all know He is not, Titus 1:2). May the Grace of Our Lord be with you!! 2nd Samuel 22 |

24 | Why do people try to disprove baptism? | John 3:5 | 2ndSamuel22 | 53411
Dear NLightNMe, I can appreciate your feelings on this matter, as can many others on this forum. It shows that you truly love God, and want to know and do the truth of God's word. As for the question of why some of us so passionately argue that baptism is not necessary for salvation, I will give you my opinion, for what it's worth..:) Yes, I do believe we should all be baptized. It is a public profession of faith in Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. And it symbolizes the fact that, as our bodies are cleansed by the water, our souls are cleansed by the Holy and Precious Blood of the Lamb. Salvation comes by a changed heart, then once we are saved, the public profession. However, it is not necessary in order to be saved. Yes, when any passage mentions people being saved(Lydia, the Roman jailer, the AEthiopian eunuch), they are then baptized. But, whenever the conditions for salvation are mentioned, they are: repent, believe, confess.(Romans 10:9, Acts 16:29-31). Otherwise(and this is another subject which we have beaten into the ground), Jesus could not have told the thief they would be together in Paradise. Another reason I believe this way is this: If someone accepts Christ as their Lord and Saviour, and crossing the street to be baptized they get hit and killed by a car, are they going to hell? No. When Jesus cried,"It is finished", He meant "It is finished", or from the Greek, "Paid in full." He is exalted, the King is exalted on High!! 2nd Samuel 22 |

25 | John5:1-9 "Do you want to get well?" | John 5:6 | 2ndSamuel22 | 54173
Dear lialia, In addition to mommapbs' thoughtful response, I would add this: He asked this question for the same reason people have to be convinced to accept the free gift of Grace of God through Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. It should be a no-brainer, so why do some still reject it? Because, as you said, it means they would have to change. Contrast this story with the woman who had the flow of blood(Matthew 9:20-22), who took it upon herself to demonstrate her faith in Jesus' ability to heal her. God is my strength and power, and He makes my way perfect!! 2nd Samuel 22 |

26 | is homosexuality a sin? | Rom 1:27 | 2ndSamuel22 | 49274
Greetings, wildlight! Here are just a few verses which prove that homosexuality is unbiblical, in fact an abomination: Lev. 18:22--"Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination."(KJV) Lev. 20:13--"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination..."(KJV) I Cor. 6:--"Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor EFFEMINATE, nor HOMOSEXUALS,...will inherit the kingdom of God."(NASB)--[all emphasis mine] I hope this helps! 2nd Samuel 22 |

27 | what is baptism of the dead 1 cor 15:29 | 1 Corinthians | 2ndSamuel22 | 47941
Paul here is asking the Corinthians this question: If Jesus was not resurrected, but was still dead, then why are so many being baptized in His name(v.29)? And why do so many suffer persecution, some even unto death, for a dead man(v.30) The KJV and the NKJV both end v.29 with,"...baptized for THE DEAD" instead of,"...baptized for THEM"[all emphasis mine], because the "dead" that Paul is refering to is Jesus, not a group of people. One can not be baptized for the dead, as the Mormons believe. They have based a large portion of their religion on this one verse. But I digress. I hope that clears things up for you. 2nd samuel 22:36-37 |

28 | Why not Brothers? | 1 Cor 11:3 | 2ndSamuel22 | 49722
I Corinthians 11:3--"But I want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of a woman, and GOD IS THE HEAD OF CHRIST." Luke 22:42--saying, "Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; YET NOT MY WILL BUT YOURS BE DONE." Collosians 2:9--"For in Him(Jesus Christ) ALL the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form," Matthew 16:15 He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Matthew 16:16 Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the SON of the living God." Matthew 16:17 And Jesus said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but MY FATHER WHO IS IN HEAVEN..." [all emphases mine] Thus is the mystery of the Trinity. Why many people wonder how 3 can be 1, and 1 be 3. I don't have quite the extensive background as some of the more learned people on this forum, but here's a start: Jesus IS, WAS and will ALWAYS BE one with God(John 1:1). However, Jesus the Son does the will of God the Father. The best way I know how to say it is this: They are one in majesty and sovereignty; however, God is the head of all. Like I said, it's a start. And perhaps someone else can futher expound on this. May the blessings of the LORD thy God be with you always. 2nd Samuel 22 |

30 | DO NOT BE YOKED WITH UNBELIEVERS.... | 2 Cor 6:14 | 2ndSamuel22 | 53491
Dear heaven, You have done well in coming here, instead of any secular therapist or shrink. You seem to be very strong in your conviction, and yes Satan will come after you as well. But stay strong, resist the devil, and he shall flee. When you feel or hear him coming around, tell him, "In the name of Jesus Christ my Lord, I command you to be gone." Satan must flee at the command of the name of Jesus. Here is my take on what must be done to bring your boyfriend back to his senses: 1. You must understand that YOU cannot change him. This can only be done by the Spirit of conviction. Remember, we do not choose God, He chooses us(John 15:16). We are but a vessel for God to work through, and to be glorified through. 2. Pray. After that, pray. And again, pray(Luke 18:7). And don't pray from a strictly defensive standpoint. Attack Satan. Invoke the name of Jesus Christ Our Lord, His Holy Blood, and quote Scripture constantly. This was how Jesus rebuked Satan in Matthew 4. By quoting Scripture. Besides, if you notice in Ephesians ch.6(the whole armour of God), the word of God is the only weapon of offense. So use it. 3. Do not abandon him. I don't mean you should go back to dating him yet, but call him, tell him you are praying for him. Let him hear Christ in your voice. Do not get angry with him(I know that may be difficult). Plead with him not so much for him to come back to you, but for him to return to his first Love, Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ(Revelations 2:4). 4. Pray. Pray for God to show you if it is His will that the two of you get back together. Do not do anything until you get your answer from Him. In conclusion, remember that even though your boyfriend may have left, God never will. If you always have Him in your heart, you will never be alone. He will be your Comforter(John 16:7). Your Provider(Genesis 22:14). Your Life(John 14:6). May the peace of God be with you. God Bless!! He is exalted, the King is exalted on High!! 2nd Samuel 22 |

31 | what is the breastplate of righteouness | Ephesians | 2ndSamuel22 | 51760
Greetings gospelcom!! In order to explain what is meant by the "whole armour of God", I'll take you back a couple of verses, to vv11-13. The Apostle Paul is telling us that when we become Christians, then the wars we wage are not of flesh, but against "principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."(KJV) So, we must cover ourselves with Christ, and all of His weapons: v 14 --The girdle of truth. In Paul's day, what men wore into battle was much different than today. They wore flowing garments, which gave their legs mobility. Now, these garments needed to be cinched up at the waist, so they wouldn't trip on the fabric. In this same vein, God's truth is what binds everything together, and allows us to fight the enemy more effectively. --The breastplate of righteousness. The breastplate covers the heart. And in Matthew 15:18-19, Jesus says, "But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders." So we must cover our hearts with Christ's righteousness, that we would not give into those things. v.15 --cover your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Often, the ground a battle was fought on would have shard of glass or metal buried in it, so if you didn't have the right footwear on, you would cut your feet, and be rendered ineffective for battle. The same way Satan lays little traps for us to trip on, so we must be preapred by always walking by faith(II Corinthians 5:7), on the promise of the Gospel. v.16 --The shield of faith. Shields back then were made of thick leather, and before the battle, they would be soaked in water, so when the enemy fired flaming arrows(darts) at them, the water in the shields would extinguish the flame. When Satan attacks, and fires at us with old thoughts, or trying to convict us of old sins, our faith in Christ will allow us to put out those darts, knowing that we have already been forgiven. v.17 --The helmet of salvation. Let our minds be covered by the knowledge that we have eternal life if we are truly saved, and let those thoughts guide our way. --The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Notice, this is the only offensive weapon Paul mentions. Other similar verses: Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Rev 19:15 From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron;... (NASB) Notice also in Matthew chapter 4, when Satan tries to tempt Jesus, how does He respond? With Scripture. It is one of our greatest weapons against the enemy. 32 | So I ask you again, where do you get you | Eph 5:19 | 2ndSamuel22 | 52034
Greetings Grace and Truth!! I hate to disagree with you again, but.... 1 Tim 2:8 Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, LIFTING UP HOLY HANDS, without wrath and dissension.(NASB) Rev 5:8 When He had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one holding a HARP and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. (NASB) Rev 14:2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers HARPING WITH THEIR HARPS:(KJV) The angels in Revelations were playing their harps, pleasing God with their music. In the presence of God Himself. May the Grace of Our Lord be with you!! 2nd Samuel 22 |

33 | Heb.13:15 This verse addresses our prais | Eph 5:19 | 2ndSamuel22 | 52101
Dear Grace and Truth, So you go back to the old "arguing from silence" approach? Because it doesn't say it in a CERTAIN VERSE you pick out, we shouldn't do it, right? You seem more intent on the 'logos' word, rather than the 'rhema' word. I have shown you time and again verses IN THE BIBLE, which show God's APPROVAL for playing instruments. Yet, on a consistent basis, you avoid answering the verses I give you. I have even posted the Strong's definitions. Yet all we get from you is your opinion on certain passages, with nothing to back it up!! Why? What are you afraid of? Also, Paul was not the only apostle to have a Book included in the Bible, and yet he seems to be the only one you quote. For your infromation, James, Peter(twice), John(FIVE--COUNT 'EM--FIVE TIMES) and others have had epistles, Gospels, and prophetic books included in the Holy Word of God. Why do you ignore them? I do not mean to sound bitter, but it gets very frustrating when you make valid arguments to someone, and they completely ignore them without answer, or answer them out of context. Would you please give a valid response to the passages I quoted. Thank you. PS: Reread the definition of "psalms" I gave you, maybe that will clear things up. May the Grace of Our Lord be with you!! 2nd Samuel 22 |

34 | Can a person ever loose his salvation? | Hebrews | 2ndSamuel22 | 51385
Greetings Stacey!! Read Hebrews 10:14-- Heb 10:14 For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.(NASB) Notice it says "for all time". If you truly repent, and truly ask Jesus into your heart, and are sanctified, then you have been perfected FOREVER!! What a glorious gift He has given us!! 35 | Can we lose our righteousness? | Heb 10:14 | 2ndSamuel22 | 54247
Dear McGracer, Once we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we are sanctified, set apart for God's use. Does that mean we can go about our lives doing what we want, living in the sins of our "old man"? No. We must live our lives as Christ. Otherwise, it is not saving faith(James 2:17-19). This is not to be confused with "salvation by works", for those who think it is what we do that "earns" us our salvation. Now, does that mean that if we, as humans, mess up and fail Him(as we are so good at doing), He will cast us from His sight? No. Because, as Galatians 2:20 says, it is not I, but Christ who lives in me, "and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God." And again, Colossians 3:3, "For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God." Those who accept the free gift of the grace of God through Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and give their lives to Him, He will "give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand."(John 10:28-29 NASB) God is my strength and power, and He makes my way perfect!! 2nd Samuel 22 |

38 | Who are these? | Rev 13:6 | 2ndSamuel22 | 44973
My interpretation(For what it's worth).. I would say "those who dwell in heaven" are the raptured saints. Almost every translation says Antichrist will blaspheme God, His name, His temple, AND those who dwell in heaven(note the implication made when the NASB says "THAT IS, those who dwell in heaven"). As far as Antichrist making war with "the saints", I would say these are the ones who are left behind after the rapture but after which give their lives to Christ(tribulation saints). Rev 13:8 makes the distinction that those who worship Antichrist will be those whose names "are not written in the book of life..." Well, that's my take on it. I hope I helped. |
