201 | Christmas | Jer 10:1 | TheFinalSQL | 106936
Jer 10:1 ΒΆ Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: 2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. 3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. 4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. 5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. Christmas is heavily steeped in Pagan/heathen traditions. Communion is what Jesus told us to do to remember him, not Christmas. Lu 22:19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. 20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. Thank you Jesus! Norm |

202 | Is this a Christian Forum? | Bible general Archive 2 | TheFinalSQL | 105378
Yes. I am new to this site and I find this site to be an excellent forum. I posted for a time to alt.bible many years ago. I became very discouraged by it. This is the first site I posted to in relation to the Bible since. I look through the posts and give an answer where I can. I find plenty of wonderful exchanges of quesions and answers here. I invite you to ask a question relevant to the points you brought up or answer some. Enjoy this site. Praise the Lord! Norm |

203 | work on Sundays | Deut 5:14 | TheFinalSQL | 104965
What time is it? We can not base the knowledge of when Sunday or Saturday is based on this joke of a calendar we use now, the Gregorian Calendar. Unless God reveals it to us or we dig up some very old writings, we do not know when the Sabbath is or any other day. Time that God gave to the Hebrews to observe the Sabbath is lost even in the New Testament. Norm |

204 | Does "name" refer to relationship? | Heb 1:4 | TheFinalSQL | 104940
The name it refers to is LORD. Phil 2:9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, Is 42:8 I am the LORD, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, Nor My praise to graven images. John 17:5 Now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was. Norm |

205 | Explain the Holy Trinity-verysimple form | Numbers | TheFinalSQL | 103790
By saying he is not the same, I do not mean two different people. His attributes are different. He was exhalted by God. Notice in the two Matthew scriptures I quoted. Before the cross he said he would not always be with us. After the cross he said he would always be with us. Norm |

206 | Is maturbation a sin if it is not lustfu | NT general Archive 1 | TheFinalSQL | 103785
Paul covers this in 1 Cor 7, specifically verse 4: 1 Cor 7:1 Now concerning the things about which you wrote, it is good for a man not to touch a woman. 2 But because of immoralities, each man is to have his own wife, and each woman is to have her own husband. 3 The husband must fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise also the wife to her husband. 4 The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise also the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. |

209 | deut 15:1 | Bible general Archive 2 | TheFinalSQL | 103775
Currently, it is impossible to know, because the calendaring system used by the Hebrews in the Old Testament is unknown. There are a few month names mentioned. i.e. Ex 13:4 On this day in the month of Abib, you are about to go forth. By the time of the New Testament the Babylonians/Greeks had much influence on the calendar, thus the Old Testament Hebrew calendar is lost. Here is a good site for info about calendars in the Bible: http://www.bible-history.com/jewishyear/jewishyear_nelson_s_illustrated_bible_dictionary.html Norm |

210 | Explain the Holy Trinity-verysimple form | Numbers | TheFinalSQL | 103771
Jesus that raised from the dead was not the same Jesus that died. Once you understand this it becomes easier to see who Jesus really is. What makes us alive? Two things, Blood and Spirit: Lev 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood... James 2:26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead... On the cross Jesus gave up the Spirit: John 19:30 Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit. The blood of Jesus was spilled: John 10:34 But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. The body of Jesus was raised on the third day. There is no blood in that body. What raised the body of Jesus? God Almighty raised him. Acts 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ--this Jesus whom you crucified." Phil 2:9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, That name he gave him is LORD: Isaiah 42:8 I am the LORD, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, Nor My praise to graven images. John 17:5 "Now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was. Matthew has a very good example showing the difference between Jesus before the cross and after the cross, whether or not he will be with us. Before the cross: Mt 26:11 For you always have the poor with you; but you do not always have Me. After the cross: Mt 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. I'll end with this scripture: Rev 1:8 "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty." Check your NASB, written in red, words of Jesus, calling himself the Almighty. God never "was". God is a Spirit, God can not die, but Jesus died, he "was" Jesus is the LORD God Almighty Jesus Only!
