201 | Human dung for baking bread? | Ezek 4:12 | srbaegon | 209489
Hello, God wants to demonstrate through Ezekiel what they will be faced with when the siege of Jerusalem happens. They will not be able to accumulate firewood to cook their meals, so that will be their last source of fuel. Why was it changed? My thought is that Ezekiel considered cooking with human dung to be defiling. In the Law, human and animal waste was to remain outside the camp. Steve |

202 | Eating own dung and drinking own urine? | 2 Kin 18:27 | srbaegon | 209488
Hello dmnannet, There are some possible answers: 1. Demonstrates veracity of Scripture. 2. Gives important historical detail about siege warfare. 3. Tells us the human author was a really sick individual. The last one is facetious, and none of these are really acceptable. The best answer is that God wanted in there. That's the best I can give. Hello NURSE, Try this. In the Bible Text box on the right side of the website, there are five boxes. Enter ACTS in the bottom of those, and click on GO. Steve |

204 | What do you think Mt 8:20 is saying? | Matt 8:20 | srbaegon | 209483
Hello, Why not take a more plain reading? We know Jesus had homes to stay in (one in Capernaum in particular was a base of operations), so he had places to sleep. More likely, he is pointing out that, as opposed to animals who have a definite place on this earth, Jesus does not. His real home is in heaven. Just a thought. Steve |

208 | 1 Thessalonians 4:15 | 1 Thess 4:15 | srbaegon | 209343
Hello Jack, The question would be better stated, "Do you think Christ will come back today?" The answer to either question is, "I am living in anticipation of it." Steve |

209 | Jesus' opponents ministry time | Matthew | srbaegon | 208759
Hello nolane, The most often named opponents are the Pharisees (see Matt 15 and 23), but the scribes and Sadducees also tried. Steve |
||||||
210 | Why is Matthew 18:11 omitted ? | Matt 18:11 | srbaegon | 208757
Hello Wee Willy, That verse is not found in the earliest manuscripts of Matthew's gospel. Dropping it takes nothing away from Scripture, because that passage is also found in Luke 19:10. Steve |
||||||
211 | The word fasting in Mark 9:29 | Mark 9:29 | srbaegon | 208738
Hello beana21, I don't think you got a good answer on this. It depends on the manuscripts given the greatest weight. Some have the words "and fasting" and others do not. So when assembling a Greek NT or a current translation, the editors must weigh the evidence addressed by textual criticism in order to determine if certain words are to be in the Bible. Steve |
||||||
212 | Bible verses put in parenthesis? | Bible general Archive 4 | srbaegon | 208722
Hello LindaBoyd, Welcome to the forum. The Bible editors want to use conventional English punctuation in the translation. Parenthetical expressions are common in Scripture, and this is the best way to identify those. Steve |

Hello Roots, You completely missed my point. I said that God does not want his people to blur gender distinctives. Steve |

216 | What does it mean to be washed and renew | Titus 3:5 | srbaegon | 208535
Hello Marilyn, Paul is pointing to basically the same thing as Jesus did in John 3:1-8 and was prophesied in Ezek 36:25-27; Jer 31:31-34. It is the work of the Holy Spirit as part of the promise of the new covenant in Christ. Steve |

218 | does it matter how you live? | Rom 6:15 | srbaegon | 208518
Hello Marilyn, That depends on what is meant by "it doesn't matter." If the meaning is that I will delight myself in the Lord so that he gives me the desires of my heart, then, yes, live as you please. If the meaning is that I can live as I like and sin whenever I like, then Romans 6 tells us, "May it never be!" I hope that helps. Steve |

219 | Are these the same centurion? | Matt 27:54 | srbaegon | 208329
Hello Nightmann, The possibility is there, but why enter into conjecture on something that cannot be proved? We can rejoice that in both cases a centurion acknowledged something about the Savior. Steve |

220 | ... | Ex 20:5 | srbaegon | 208327
Hello yearegods, If my wife would start to show attention to another man, that would cause jealousy to arise. The same type of thing is involved with God. He will not allow the affections reserved for Him alone to be shown to anyone or anything else. Steve |
