202 | Stem cell research and Scripture? | Gen 9:4 | JCrichton | 136927
Hi, Mikevy06798! There is little to be found on specific textual content... aside from rudimentary explanations about the blood being the life force of man and animal... As early as Genesis 9:3-6, we find Yahweh's commad not to consume the blood of the animal as part of a meal... as the blood of the animal and man's is sacred to Him! In the New Testament we hear Jesus adminishing the Jews and He testefies that He came to rescue the sinners... He uses the anology of doctor-patient relationship applied to Himself and the Children of God who have gone astray (are sick)... Jesus recognizes that there is a need for the medical science and that God's children are not to dispense of a doctor's assistance... Stem cell research was originally conducted on cord blood (the blood and components found in the disposal portion of the spent umbilical cord)... The harnessing of a potentially restorative/preventive material that in times past was simply discarded, on the surface, seems innocent enough! The problem lies in what is being done with the material that is being harnessed... and there is an additional controversy that stems not from the end product but from the actual harnessing method: babies are being murdered and their fragmented bodies are being harnessed along with the cord blood! Abortion has become the ultimate perfect business: murder of infants has been sanctioned by secular law and the harvesting of the murder by-product has become a prized commodity: the slavery of the new era! There are labs around the world where partial organs or appendages are being grown in specially cultivated animals... soon people will be able to kill in the womb any child that may be suspected of carrying genetic defects, unwanted traits (brown eyes; dark hair/skin; unwanted gender; hereditary deseases/boldness/phisical atributes...); science is playing good, the industry is reaping profit both by killing and recycling, and the government is playing catch-up politics--as usual! Christians are so fragmented that we even support the acts which trespasses God's Command that we execute our stwardship in His justice and love... we are in constant discord over inconsequential matters while Satan charms the world into committing all sorts of atrocities against God and nature in the name of science or quality of life! Though shall not kill... it seems that there never was such commandment! Love the Yahweh, the Lord your God (Creator) above all else... that one too seems to have ceased to be relevant! ...but God is not a God of confusion or double-mindedness... He is Eternal and Unchanging! When He ordered us not to kill, it was forever! When He ordered us to place nothing above Him, it was forever! God Bless! Angel |

203 | The little words | James 3:9 | JCrichton | 136709
Hi, Lissa! As a Christian, you must represent (be Christ-like)... specially know that since your relationship has ended... your ex will constantly play on your Christianity... he has come to know you and is in a position of using what he knows to trip your emotions... basically he is manipulating you... continuing a "friendly" relationship with an ex is very politically correct (at least in the movies/shows etc.)... but I suggest to you to define this relationship in terms of your self-esteem and peace of mind... Calling or receiving a call from a person who relishes in irritating you is not a healthy habit... You do not have to become enemies, but if he cannot respect you then why expose yourself to his constant assaults?--I mean, you have explained to him how he makes you feel, haven't you? We cannot choose a family member... but we are quite capable of choosing our associates and friends! One past relation could not speak unless the very next word after "like" would be any of the choice profanities... for a time she curbed herself around me... but she would continuously fall back to her choice words... needless to say, it did not work! This relationship with your ex could be a testing ground for your patience and your Christian resolve... but I cannot but warn you that resentment is sometimes a tool that exs use in a very good disguise of "modern/cultured" persona... Have you heard about inside jobs... these are robberies or assaults caused by those who have complete or proficient knowledge of the intended target... Please, be careful--do not allow someone else to rob you of your grace and peace! God Bless! Angel |

204 | Didn't ALL things come from God, evil to | 1 John 1:5 | JCrichton | 136706
Hi, Bimer! Here's why your conclusion is wrong: God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning-the sixth day. (Genesis 1:31) Genesis 1:31 clearly states that Creation was reviewed by God and that all that was created was good! There's no room for "ifs" and second guessing! God Created all that there is and He created it "GOOD!" Atomic power as well as other forms of energies and technologies are good... but, if twisted about to a negative and destructive end, atomic power is completely evil! The spiritual being known to us as Satan was not created evil! Satan chose to rebel against his Creator; he thought of himself beyond a creature and thought that he too could be a god--one that would dispose of the original Creator! It was he who introduced death onto Creation; it was he who twisted the mind of one third of the angels and attempted agains the Divine Throne! It is he who continually attempts against God's chosen (elect) in order to derail God's Plan (Genesis 3:15; Revelation 12). Our lives are hidden in God, the Lord, the Giver of Life: (Ezekiel 33:11)! God Bless! Angel |

205 | Didn't ALL things come from God, evil to | 1 John 1:5 | JCrichton | 136703
Hi, Mark! I agree with you... prophetic writings are mostly set in dualities (direct effect of the temporal here and now and reflection of the yet to come futuristic event)... My concern is with your statement: "These verses tell us it is God Who raises up the antichrist," ...somehow you've come to the conclusion that it is God who raises the anti-Christ! While Scripture speaks of the anti-Christ and of many anti-Christs... there is no text that places God as the Creator of evil (the anti-Christ, Satan, the Ancient Serpent, the Dragon, the Beast...); only through liberal interpretation of Scripture, the language, to be exact, can anyone conclude that God is the Creator of the anti-Christ! The anti-Christ created himself!: Ezekiel 28:12-17; Isaiah 14;11-20; Revelation 12:3-4; 7-9; 13-17; Satan, Lucifer, the Dragon, the Serpent, Apollyon (the Destroyer), the anti-Christ, was not created evil... it was by choice--the rejection of God's Authority--that the anti-God came into being... just as it is by choice that we embrace sin and sin's reward (death), instead of obeying God's Will (John 3:17-21). God Bless! Angel |

Hi, Gab! It is truly difficult to know what God intends to do with us... there are many both celebreties and noncelebreties who have made stides on the Way only to turn away from Him when things did not happened as they thought it would or when the world calls them entices them back (Matthew 13:3-23 and 13:24-30)... Remember also Pauls words... not all have been called to be apostles, prophets, preachers, teachers... (1 Corinthians 12:28-30) As long as this person stays within Christ's Body he can serve the Lord in any station of life! God Bless! Angel |

208 | I'm saved/he isn't-what does this mean | 1 Cor 7:14 | JCrichton | 136633
Hi, Driving! I think that there are passages in Scripture that were written to deal specifically for the actual time period in which it was written... here, Paul is speaking to the early Church, one which constituted the apostles, and other first generation (Jesus') disciples, second and perhaps even, third and fourth generation disciples (disciples of disciples)... hence, the pre-existing union (marriages) of Believers and non-believers... Paul did not want chaos to rule the Church so he preached that the Believers who found themselves in relationships (marriages) with non-believers should stay in that relationship... in this manner the children would, through the Believers' teaching, come to know and believe in the Lord... and perhaps even the spouses, being witnessed to their husbans/wifes Faith, would have a greater opportunity to learn about and believe in Christ! This, of course, is not the ideal relationship for a Believer as the non-believer may serve as a stumbling block for both the Believer and their children. (1 Corinthians 7:15) 1 Corinthians 7:14 was not meant as an excuse clause so that Christian seek relationships with non-Christians... God's demands have not changed! There is no "umbrella salvation" (Matthew 24:40-41; Luke 17:34)... we must establish an individual relationship with Christ, our Lord and Savior (John 11:26-27)... sadly, it seems that we are continually gravitating away from God's demands that we be a separate people onto Him (1 Peter 1:16)... we tend to comply with God's Commands only after our personal desires are satisfied! So you should pay attention to both 1 Corinthians 7:14 and 7:15... understanding that you cannot save your husband and children with some "umbrella;" it is your responsibility, as a Believer, to teach them about Christ! It is a difficult and painful task which you have in your hands... but remember that you are not alone, the Holy Spirit is your personal guide and counsel... seek Him in prayers and devotions; He can enlighten your mind and spirit so that you can, through words and actions, convict your husband and children about Christ! God Bless! Angel |

210 | Isaiah 45:7 | Is 45:7 | JCrichton | 136524
Hi, Lmad! Scripture can seem complicated at times... but it really isn't! The Word of God must be studied with God's Holy Spirit's guidance... it is He who through holy men of God gave the world the Scriture! When reading Isaiah 45:7, you must take into account that God created all that He created and He saw that it was God (Genesis 1:31--read the whole chapter 1:1-31)! Due to language license (grammar, poetic, prose, translation...) some passages seem obscure... they even confuse those who are linguist or theologians as they get caught-up in the "higher/deeper" meanings of words... Genesis 1:31 clearly states that God Created everything and that He saw (tested, analyzed, foresaw) that it was good: God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning-the sixth day. (Genesis 1:31) Nowhere in Creation does it state that God created evil and He saw that creating evil was good! Hollow wood has a tendency of creating gray zones (movies, tv programs, theatre, music...) where good and evil are not only interchangeable but codependent, and, at times, partners! Genesis 3:15 obliterates all of that pseudo-spiritual mumbo-jumbo! Sadly, some "Christians" are beginning to buy into all those bogus claims... they read Scripture as Isaiah 45:7 and they give complete credence to man's doctrines rejecting God's own Word: "GOD SAW ALL THAT HE HAD MADE, AND IT WAS VERY GOOD!" Now, when Yahweh speaks to Israel (through the prophets) there are two repeating themes: a) the promise of the Mesiah, and b) man's disobedience and God's Wrath unleashed to curve their unrighteousness... at times God allows Israel to be subjected to the oppression and serviture of other nations... at times God uses Israel to curve the other nations... and at times God uses even other nations to rescue Israel from her oppressors... This is the evil that is spoken of in Scripture... notice that it is exclusively used in the Old Testament Scripture, when the Old Covenant demanded a physical economy (eye for and eye, sacrifice of animals for atonement of sin...)! Do not despair! God created all that is good! He even came to our rescue when Satan introduce his wickedness onto the world (1 John 3:8, 16). Remember read Scripture in light of the rest of Scripture! God Bless! Angel |

211 | what do you do when you feel no love.... | Matt 22:37 | JCrichton | 136394
Hi, Amanda! What to do... Read Scripture! Saturate yourself with God's Word! He tells us that He is Love! He tells us that Love has no end! He tells us that Love is all forgiving! He tells us that Love is Life! I've just met you (virtually)... but your words brought me back to my childhood and my young adulthood... I've been there! I've met people who have been there! One particular person was a high school teacher... I noticed a change in her... I saw her withdraw in quiet desperation... I saw her melting away... but she had been too full of life, too optimistic, too generous, too pleasing... I never saw it coming! ...she commited suicide before I had a chance to asure her that she was not alone! On a good note... I've managed to convince a few that the value of life is not measured by material possessions, that the value of life goes well beyond our immediate being... Jesus said that the greatest love is giving one's life for a friend... He gave His life so that you, His friend, might Live! (John 15:13) And I know that God will never take back that Gift--don't get me wrong, you, I or anyone else can reject His Gift, but He will never stop Loving us! Jesus commandment is that we love one another as He Loved us! (John 15:17) As your brother in Christ, I am here for you! If you need someone to listen and offer you Christian advice, feel free to drop a line: jcrichtonfs1@yahoo.com Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8... meditate on this Scriptural passage... make it yours! My sister, you are loved by God, He created you in love, He gave His life to bring you closer to Him... if you seek Him He will not cast you out! Remember that Satan will use your weakness (any hurtful/painful experience) to plant doubt in your heart and mind... don't listen to him... he is a murderous liar! Do not allow your personal failures or the deception of others around you to convince you that you are not loved, that you cannot love or that you are not deserving of God's Love! Specially now, when you feel broken, useless, and confused... this is when Jesus Loves you best! Put all doubt out of your mind! Call on to the Holy Spirit to fill you with Hope and Joy... in Jesus you are able to love and you are loved! Remember too that old song: Jesus loves me, oh yes he does! Jesus loves me, oh yes he does! Keep singing these verses in your mind... He will reveal Himself to you as you acknowledge His Love for you! God Bless! Angel |

212 | Masturbation used to expel sexual urge? | Bible general Archive 1 | JCrichton | 136393
Hi, PV! There are waaaaay too many people who take liberties with Scripture as if they were reading through some Sci-Fi text (Lord of the Ring, Excalibur, Dune, Star Wars...) where there is a meshing of good and evil... where there are gray zones that could go either way... Not so with Scripture! When Jesus speaks on adultery and marriage (Matthew 5:27-32; 19:3-12), He does not mention homosexuality, sexual relationships outside of marriage nor bestiality because He is speaking to a people whose idea of premarital relationship meant being espoused with a husband/wife who they hardly met outside of family gatherings or, at times, they only met during their wedding ceremonies... Understanding that the people of God (those living according to the Law) would not engage in pre/extra marital sex, we can understand why Jesus did not directly address some subjects, it was expected of them not to be engaged in such immoral acts! Still, Jesus tells us that it is from the heart that evil thoughts come... these include murder, adultery, fornication and blasphemy! There are those who will attempt (while engaging in blasphemy) to usurp God's Authority by claiming that we are free to commit unrighteous acts because there is lack of Scripture to point out that it is wrong to do... These people are blind and they lead astray all who follow them... they are quick to determine that we do good by satisfying the flesh since we are above the Law... I liken them to Satan, in the Garden of Eden, twisting God's words around and promising Eve that they would not die if they disobeyed God! He used partial truth to poison her mind and spirit against God as she submitted her will to a creature rather than the Creator! We are above the Law in the sense that we no longer need to worry about what we should or should not do, because we obediently desire to do what is pleasing to God... it is this relationship that places us above the Law: our obedience and dependence on Christ: loving God above all and our neighbors as ourselves! Perhaps you may have heard of psychologists and psychiatrists that promote sexual release, and at least by hollow wood's (my pet name for the entertainment industry) standards sexual maintenance is necessary for our mental/physical health (not to mention popularity...), wrong! In the annals of the world I've yet to read any study that proves that any one person has died due to lack of sex! Further, if we are to justify any type of sexual behavior as a release mechanism to avoid sinning, would the same argument not apply to anger (kill/beat only those who deserve it--criminals, addicts, hoarders, anti-Christians); engaging in small white lies to keep us from deep dark lies; stealing insignificant knickknacks to keep us from raiding banks, stores, affluent properties... Jesus tells us that it is better for us to cut off an appendage that causes us to sin than to end up in hell! (Matthew 5;27-30) …of course, Jesus is not looking to have myriads of self-mutilated kinfolk joining Him at His Second Coming... He is asking us to exercise self-discipline... something that we train the lowest of animal forms to have (movies, dog shows, races, sea-land eco systems, etc.), how difficult could it be for us, the higher life forms, to achieve? Christians are above the Law, but that does not mean that we are free to operate outside the Law: The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, (Romans 8:6-8, 13) Above, Paul clearly states that if we live according to the flesh we cannot please God--he is speaking to Believers, not to pagans or Jews! And in Galatians 5:22-25, he offers us a list of traits by which the Holy Spirit's Grace is evident in Christians and he challenges us to walk by the Spirit: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. So remember, we cannot rationalize unrighteousness into righteousness! If we say that we are children of the Light ought we not to live in the Light? (Ephesians 5:5-10) God Bless! Angel |

213 | Paradise, Hell, and Heaven | Luke 16:23 | JCrichton | 136330
Hi, Aries! You must remember that Christ Jesus is God and God is Omniscient and Omnipresent... there are no limits to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit! As we are finite, unable to comprehend the Father and the Son being One (The Word was with God and the Word was God), we must rely on the guidance of God's Holy Spirit to reveal the Truth! In the example of Lazarus and the rich man we must understand that Jesus was using a teaching tool--no such place truly exists where hell (Hades) and Paradise coexists in one realm... Jesus uses figurative language to bring across His teachings on charity. God Bless! Angel |

214 | at rapture, we all in spiritual bodies? | 1 Cor 15:35 | JCrichton | 136322
Hi, Aries! Having a spiritual body does not mean being Holy--only God is Holy and those born of the Spirit (Holy Spirit) are holy... (Romans 8:11) Satan and his angels are spirits but they are far removed from holiness! There is a distinction between those in Christ and those in the world... when speaking of the changes to come Paul offers comforting words of hope to Christians while ignoring the non-believers: For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17) When we look at what the Gospel has to say, we find that hell or hell's fire will burn forever, there is no organic matter that can withstand that kind of fire (Matthew 3:11-12; 8:10-12; 13:37-50; 18:8-9; 25:41; Mark 9:43-48)... Further, Jesus warns that we are not to be amazed at His teachings or the things to come: "Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out--those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned. (John 5:28-29) Though we will all be raised, Paul makes a distinction about those who are Saved in Christ and those who willfully rejected Him: They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you. With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. (2 Thessalonians 1:9-11) God Bless! Angel |

215 | sex in marriage what does the bible say | Eph 5:24 | JCrichton | 136304
Hi, Hen! GB offered an excellent post... Christians are not only bound to a different behavior when dealing with the world, but also when dealing with each other... mutual Love and respect will bring us to the perfection of the Law (Love the Lord your God above all and your neighbor as yourself!) In explaining how he viewed the marital relationship Paul had this to say: But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband. The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife's body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband's body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife. Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. (1 Corinthians 7:2-5) So if a Christian woman respects (in Christ) her husband, and a Christian man loves (in Christ) his wife the perfection of the Law is in place: neither spouse seeks to satisfy the flesh at the expense of the Love and respect of their marital bond: Man plus Woman: one under God! God Bless! Angel |

216 | Thy will be done, statement or fact? | Matt 6:9 | JCrichton | 136302
Hi, Steve! It is both! It is a statement that we are called to make... one that not only demonstrates our submission to God, but also resonates our hope in Him! It is also a fact because only God's Will is ultimately achieved... even out of the worst escenarios God's Plan emerges in perfect triumphant design! (IE: the exodus of Israel from Egypt; the determination of the Jews' religious elite to exterminate Jesus; the persecution of the Church; Salvation in spite of Satan's constant assault on the Church...) 217 | for by grace you have been saved through | Heb 10:26 | JCrichton | 136219
Hi, James! You've gotten quite excellent replies! ...I want to add this comparison... Agreeing that Christ has done all there is to gain salvation and that man can do nothing to sanctify himself: Eternal Salvation is guaranteed by God through Jesus (dying on the Cross while taking onto Himself our sins), but Jesus never claimed that He came to ransom all us (Matthew 20:28; John 1:10-13; 3:17-21;). Some who openly rejected Jesus were part of the religious elite of His times... though their Salvation was guaranteed in Jesus, they, by their own actions, rejected Eternal Life (Jesus). At one particular time the chief priests and scribes attempted to censure Jesus, and with ill-intent they feign interest in His Authority: They arrived again in Jerusalem, and while Jesus was walking in the temple courts, the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders came to him. "By what authority are you doing these things?" they asked. "And who gave you authority to do this?" Jesus replied, "I will ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things. John's baptism--was it from heaven, or from men? Tell me!" They discussed it among themselves and said, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will ask, 'Then why didn't you believe him?' But if we say, 'From men'...." (They feared the people, for everyone held that John really was a prophet.) So they answered Jesus, "We don't know." Jesus said, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things." (Mark 11:27-33) So you see, Salvation is accessible to all; Eternal Life is granted to all... but not all accept Jesus, the Resurrection and the Life! God will never change His mind about saving us... just like He will never change His mind about the wages for sin! (Romans 6:23) God Bless! Angel |

218 | who could have been taken up like jesus | 2 Tim 3:16 | JCrichton | 136191
Hi, Greenhornet! Though there are Scriptural references to two who were taken up to Heaven (Enoch: Genesis 5:22-24 and Elijah: 2 Kings 2:11), neither were taken up into Heaven as Jesus was--since both Enoch and Elijah were taken into Heaven bodily and for the purpose of serving God, they differ from Jesus in that He had a Glorified body, Willed Himself to ascend into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father, begining His Eternal Reign! (Acts 2:32-36; 7:55-57; Romans 8:34; Ephesians 1;20-21; colossians 3:1; Hebrews 1:3-13; 8:1; 10:12; 12:2; 1 Peter 3:22) God Bless! Angel |

219 | Which scriptures are about volunteering? | 1 Thess 1:9 | JCrichton | 136187
Hi, Kimberly! Though Scripture do not use the term "volunteering," here's what Paul had to say to the Ephisians: It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. (Ephesians 4:11-16) God Bless! Angel |

220 | Need advice about spreading the Gospel | Rom 10:14 | JCrichton | 136111
Hi, Chynna! Aside from being well-versed in Scripture (which is a great thing because if moves us to, fervently and studiosly, study the Bible) tons of perseverance and patience! You must also be consistent! I have come across a few people (atheists and non-Christians) who have accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior... the worst of the lot is the Christian who has allowed Satan rob him/her of the Truth and has left the Faith--sometimes to embrace Satanism! The hardest to work with are the intellectual atheists--these have, for the most part, a tremendous amount of Scriture retention, which could dwarf many Believers'... Start, if you are not doing so yet, by intensifying your prayers sessions--the person/s you are instructing is your spiritual disciple, hence, your are spiritually responsible for him/her, your prayers must reflect that commitment! Use as little or as much Scripture as he/she is able to asimilate--never offer an endless list of Scripture for individual study (everything you offer must be covered during each meeting--this leaves no room for cluster/speed study (covering a large amount of books or topics in superficial and counterproductive ways)... Don't be afraid to do homework! Sometimes the questions or Scriptural passages must be studied further before moving on to another level/topic... do so! It is better to study the same material for a long period of time than to leave the person in the dark or for one self to be in the dark! One simple must do rule: Establish that your exchange is meant for study of Scripture and not for political or philosophical study--your willingness to spend time discussing Scripture should yield at least a common goal: learning about the Bible. Request that the person study just as hard as you--bending over-backwards by allowing him/her the flexibility of not reading Scripture (out of some misguided respect for his/her belief) will only exasperate your efforts and yield greater callousness from him/her. I'll be praying for your efforts! God Bless! Angel |
