181 | When can we give our tithes | Ps 22:3 | terrib | 111771
Greetings Mafil, We are not under the letter of the Law of the old ordinances but under grace. (Psa 22:3 KJV) But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. Tithing is a form of praise. It would be more pleasing to praise Him 12 times than once. It would be a condition of the heart and the timings of your personal financial plan. Most congregations that I have attended usually have set up a tithing day once a month that is usually announced by the Pastor. Offerings are usually weekly. This follows the orderly conduct for church business mentioned by Paul. You could ask your Pastor which day is tithing day. (1Co 14:40 KJV) Let all things be done decently and in order. terrib |

183 | How "mature" in Christ are we today? | 1 Cor 3:1 | terrib | 110815
Greetings, As in all growth and wisdom we each mature at a pace that we are willing. (Phi 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. ) We would have to take your question as rhetorical. For one can only look at oneself and the surroundings (which would include family, congregation, friends and the circles that one associates with) that we allow and are in. And as John wrote to the seven churches in Revelations about their state of affairs, we are not without fault. I must say though, Paul would probably not be so polite toward us as he was with the younger churches. (Luk 12:48 KJV) ... For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. Luk 17:5 The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!" 185 | who was beheaded and buried? | 1 Sam 31:9 | terrib | 110748
Hi cryst9m, Saul. (1Sa 31:9 NASB) They cut off his head and stripped off his weapons, and sent them throughout the land of the Philistines, to carry the good news to the house of their idols and to the people. (1Sa 31:10 NASB) They put his weapons in the temple of Ashtaroth, and they fastened his body to the wall of Beth-shan. (1Sa 31:11 NASB) Now when the inhabitants of Jabesh-gilead heard what the Philistines had done to Saul, (1Sa 31:12 NASB) all the valiant men rose and walked all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Beth-shan, and they came to Jabesh and burned them there. (1Sa 31:13 NASB) They took their bones and buried them under the tamarisk tree at Jabesh, and fasted seven days. Peace terrib |

186 | what happened ? | Bible general Archive 2 | terrib | 110740
Dear bloodofjesus, Greetings: In our travels through God's Word certain passages are opened to our understanding as God permits that we can grow and with that understanding we go on to other Graces that our Lord leads us to. Your last words were "babe in christ", and God and all the angels in heaven rejoyce in finding you. Getting to your post, Christianity was not taken to them by us, Chritianity started in Israel. But they rejected Jesus when He was there in their midst. They saw Him, touched Him, listened to Him and judged Him. It is not that they are wrong and we are right. The Gospel came to us because they rejected Him. If they had not, the Gentiles (in the scriptures, a pagan; a worshipper of false gods; any person not a Jew or a christian; a heathen), would be lost. And, if you are not of the Jewish heritage, would include you also. Therefore we give God all thanks for allowing this to come to pass. To learn more about the Grace that came to us may I suggest reading and studying Romans chapter 10 and 11. This will explain the affect that the Jewish rejection had on the rest of the world. God loves all His people and if He didn't offer a way of salvation to the entire world He would be a liar. After your studies are complete and you still have any questions, I know that the believers that follow this forum would be grateful if they could help you further. May I also suggest that in your studies you choose a Bible translation that best conforms to the gifts that our Lord has given you. Again, that is Romans chapter 10 and chapter 11. And, as always, ask God to open your mind to His Word. The Comforter (Holy Spirit) will lead you into all truth. And the key phrase here is "lead you" not "push you". May the wisdom of The Father come upon you. terrib |

188 | The Lord Jesus revealed? | 2 Thess 1:7 | terrib | 110612
Ray, 2Th 1:7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In this verse I see Paul exhorting the church to stand and wait for the end of their tribulation when they all will be reunited at Jesus's coming. 2Th 2:6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 2Th 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. In these verses I see Paul exhorting the church that - in time - the anti-christ will be revealed when - that time - is right but, be aware that the work of the devil is already at hand and is working within the church. Again the church finds corruption brewing within herself: 1. The Pharasees at the Temple in Jerusalem; 2. Judas within the twelve; 3. The papacy at Rome As with our fight for our salvation it seems that our worst enemy always comes from within. The flesh within us and the infiltration of deceit and gile in the church. (Mat 26:41 MKJV) Watch and pray that you enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Peace terrib |

189 | will we go thru the tribulation | Rev 3:10 | terrib | 110533
Dear uniqueone, There is much controversy on this subject. There are also other threads on this forum about tribulation. So listed below are the Scriptures in the KJV Bible that contain the word tribulation. If you study all the verses and the context into which they are given you will have a clearer understanding. I know these will help. Caution must be taken that men's books do not sway your understanding. (Deu 4:30 KJV) When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice; (Jdg 10:14 KJV) Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation. (1Sa 26:24 KJV) And, behold, as thy life was much set by this day in mine eyes, so let my life be much set by in the eyes of the LORD, and let him deliver me out of all tribulation. (Mat 13:21 KJV) Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended. (Mat 24:21 KJV) For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. (Mat 24:29 KJV) Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: (Mar 13:24 KJV) But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, (Joh 16:33 KJV) These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (Act 14:22 KJV) Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God. (Rom 2:9 KJV) Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; (Rom 5:3 KJV) And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; (Rom 8:35 KJV) Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? (Rom 12:12 KJV) Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; (2Co 1:4 KJV) Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. (2Co 7:4 KJV) Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my glorying of you: I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation. (1Th 3:4 KJV) For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know. (2Th 1:6 KJV) Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; (Rev 1:9 KJV) I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. (Rev 2:9 KJV) I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. (Rev 2:10 KJV) Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. (Rev 2:22 KJV) Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. (Rev 7:14 KJV) And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Peace terrib |

190 | Water, baptism and John 3:5/Titus 3:5 | John 3:5 | terrib | 110444
Dear Huron, You are correct, John 3:5 has nothing to do with water baptisim. The subject of the dicussion between Jesus and Nicodemus is birth, not baptism (or works). And the explanation of John 3:5 is in John 3:6, first birth is of the flesh (water, thus the term "my water broke") and the second birth (spirit) is of the Spirit. This is a prime example of taking things "out of context". Nicodemus sets up the dialog by asking, John3:4 "... can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?" And staying with that subject, fleshly birth or mother's womb, Jesus responds with ""Except a man be born of water"...(that fleshly first birth from the womb)". No water baptism is implied but there is a renewal or a regeneration involved by the Spirit. Peace terrib |

191 | where can i find lilith in bible | Gen 5:4 | terrib | 110244
Hi lola, The name Lilith has not come up on a search in the Scriptures. Where did you get the name? The Lord told Adam and Eve to be fruitful and mutliply. At the time there where no laws given for marrying ones sister. The commandment was to be fruitful and multiply. Adam lived 800 years after he had Seth. (Gen 5:4) And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters: Not only after the birth of Seth, but before, though we have no account of any, unless of Cain's wife; but what their number was is not certain, either before or after; some say he had thirty children, besides Cain, Abel, and Seth; and others a hundred. Josephus says the number of children, according to the old tradition, was thirty three sons and twenty three daughters. (These families had at least five children, for one son is named as well as other sons and daughters. Therefore there must be at least three sons and two daughters in each family. For a family to have at least three sons and two daughters, according to the laws of chance, a family must on the average have nine children for this to be a near certainty. Hence the families listed in this chapter must have been large by today's standards. Given their long life, this is not at all unusual. However even today, the Old Order Mennonites of Waterloo County in Ontario and Lancaster County in Pennsylvannia, have many families this large.) 192 | Is cremation right for believers? | Bible general Archive 2 | terrib | 110175
Ken John, I agree with EdB in post # 110165. There is not found any direct commandment or law for this, only tradition. But, you, not this forum or anyone else can tell you what to do concerning this matter. Any support or answers you might find here is for your consideration, only. Therefore, I would truly bring it before the Lord and let Him reveal what He would have you to do. If you get no answer or you are not sure of the answer, then I would say do not. I say that only for the fact that you have brought up the subject so you must have concerns of right or wrong. This is very personal in your life and should be considered carefully. If you are in doubt, then don’t. (Rom 14:23) “ …for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.” Paul says that all things are lawful, but not always the best thing to do. It may be that others involved in this type ceremony may be offended. That is why Paul says we should not put a stumbling block in front of one that may be weaker in their faith. You may want to ask if any would be offended. (1Co 10:32-33) Give no occasions of stumbling, either to Jews, or to Greeks, or to the church of God: even as I also please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of the many, that they may be saved. Personally, there is no offense in cremation, but for conscience sake, burial. If there is a monetary problem, however your heart decides, God will supply your need. Be of good cheer, the Comforter will lead you into all truth. Possibly some things are silent in the Scriptures so that we will have more incentive to come to the Throne of Grace. Peace |

193 | seeking repentance | Heb 12:17 | terrib | 110107
New Creature, Strong's Dictionary G3341 metanoia met-an'-oy-ah From G3340; (subjectively) compunction (for guilt, including reformation); by implication reversal (of [another’s] decision): - repentance. Conteporary English Version (CEV): (Heb 12:17) You know how he later wanted it back. But there was nothing he could do to change things, even though he begged his father and cried. American Standard Version (ASV): (Heb 12:17) For ye know that even when he afterward desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected; for he found no place for a change of mind in his father, though he sought it diligently with tears. A quote from "Albert Barne's Notes on the Bible": "For he found no place of repentance - Margin, “Way to change his mind,” That is, no place for repentance “in the mind of isaac,” or no way to change his mind. It does not mean that Esau earnestly sought to repent and could not, but that when once the blessing had passed the lips of his father, he found it impossible to change it. Isaac firmly declared that he had “pronounced” the blessing, and though it had been obtained by fraud, yet as it was of the nature of a divine prediction, it could not now be changed. He had not indeed intended that it should be thus. He had pronounced a blessing on another which had been designed for him. But still the benediction had been given. The prophetic words had been pronounced. By divine direction the truth had been spoken, and how could it be changed? It was impossible now to reverse the divine purposes in the case, and hence, the “blessing” must stand as it had been spoken. Isaac did, however, all that could be done. He gave a benediction to his son Esau, though of far inferior value to what he had pronounced on the fraudulent Jacob;" I think of an unbeliever calling upon the Lord after the saints are collected from the Earth. The Promise was delivered, the promise of redemption, so as with Isaac, Isaac delivered to Jacob the promise of inheritance. What can one do if one doesn't answer the last call? Peace |
