My thoughts don't really count. What must be believed is what the Bible says. The verses that we use must not be ones that suffer so much from anachronisms that they don't make sense any longer. Romans 10:9 is a good example of the problems that we can run into. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. There are many that don't have the ability to speak, be it for one reason or another; dose that mean that they can't be saved? Then there was the born again believer that had a heart transplant; does that mean that he is not saved now? All of these are issues that must comply with truth. I have heard the expression so many times that it makes me bilious, he has a head belief not a heart belief: this expression come about because a particular person didn't fit into the one's mold who was making the comment. The way of salvation when boiled down in the purest form, cause all the dross to come to the top, thus making the truth of God's word consistent. The book of John expounds verse after verse with out add-ons; that one must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation. Until this happens one is not saved! Receiving Jesus is an automatic result, when one believes in Him. John 1:12 KJV But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: The word EVEN was added for clarity but now days it clouds the issue. John 1:12 NIV Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-- |

1584 | Renewal AGAIN to repentance? | NT general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 25057
This is like beating a dead horse but one more time for you. What sin didn't Jesus die for? Right, the only one that He didn't die for was rejecting Him as personal savior. Since Jesus died on the cross for all sin, sin isn't the issue now; that's called the gospel or good news. The issue now is, what will you do with God's Son, will you believe on Him or reject Him? What is a life of sin? I am still stuck with an old sin nature and I try to do the best I can but I still sin because I don't measure up to God's Holyness untill He gives me my new body. Since I believed in Jesus as my Lord and Savior I have two natures. When the old nature is in control God is grieved. God is not controling my life at that time, because of some dumb sin that I commit but He said that He would never leave me of forsake me. 1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. Take it or leave it! |

Hi Norrie, prayer and giving people the word is all that we can do. A person's will is what the problem is because God does not over power their will when it comes to salvation. We know this because of two verses. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. The lord isn't willing yet many are going to destruction. Mathew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: People are not willing to put ALL their faith in Jesus for eternal life; they like to hang on to their denominations and other little security blankets that they have. There are many that talk the talk and use most of the vernacular but they are missing the key ingredient. That key ingredient is faith. The Greek word for faith says so much more then the word faith in the English. It is more then just believe or faith, in the Greek. I think the story that best portrays it is the story of a famous tight wirewalker that walked over Niagara Falls. As the story goes he walked over the falls, and then came back and ask if everyone believed that he could go across with a load of rocks in a wheelbarrow with the tire removed? The all said that they believed in him that he could do it. He went over and back with no problems. He then asked, when he returned, do you believe that I could take a person across in the wheelbarrow? They all clapped and said that they believed in him that he could do it. He then said OK, would someone please get in the wheelbarrow; nobody moved! Getting in the wheelbarrow is what the Bible means by believe in Jesus Christ. All we can do is trust in the one that is doing all the work, Jesus; and sit real still and have faith in him. No denomination, no works, no this that or the other thing just complete trust in the one taking us across the span of this life into eternity. Catholics and a lot of protestant are not willing to commit their salvation to Christ in complete trust. They want to do something even if it is something that sounds biblical like being baptized, joining a church or going forward in a Billy Graham crusade. I ask a person one time how they knew that they were saved. They said that they knew they were saved because they went forward in a church service. As soon as someone tries to do something for salvation it is works and God won't give them the gift of eternal life. It's like getting a free ride on a jet plane and the person wants to help, so they decide to get out and push. There are a lot of make believe Christians out there. The Lord even gave a parable about them called the wheat and the tares. Matthew 13:24-30 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? 28He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 29But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. Keep giving out the Word, CDBJ |

Lisa, Lisa, it sounds to me like you are still trying to exult the Catholic Church. Why don't you just let go and lift up Jesus. The Catholic religion hasn't and can't do a thing for you anymore than any organization can do anything for anyone. Paul had the same problem with the Jews of his time. Romans 10:1-5 Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. 2For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. 3For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. 4For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. My wife had the problem of not wanting to let go of her Catholic faith but once she did God revealed truth to her and now she can't understand how she believed what was drummed in to her for all those years. Until a person puts all their trust in Jesus, and that has to be 100 percent, they won't receive the gift of God. Do you know what it means to repent and believe? If you use the word sorrow in the answer you are still thinking Catholicism. I am just trying to help and I have nothing to gain. CDBJ |

Hi Lisa, I have some great news for you about your post. (Oh how I would LOVE if we could actually be Universal Christians.) All of the (true) believers in Jesus Christ are universal Christians! God is building his church, and it is not an organization but an organism. Every member of this church has heaven assured. You will find that the members of this elite group don't place emphases on a particular denomination they just lift up the Lord Jesus Christ and what He did for them. God has assured each of them eternal life buy giving them the down payment, His Holy Spirit. Those that aren't members of this group yet, can't say with absolute assurance that they will go to heaven. Sins are no longer the issue with this group because Jesus has paid for all their sins, past present and future. The only thing that sin does is it knocks them out of fellowship, and believe me that makes them miserable until fellowship is restored by the function of I John 1:9. True Christianity is not a religion but a relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ. All of the ones that have this relationship have been baptized and water wasn't even involved. Ephes. 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, Did you know that all water baptisms are just ritual? The dry baptisms are the real ones that count. Every one that has ever lived on this Earth is going to receive a real baptism and it is Jesus Christ that is going to do it. There are only two real baptisms, one for those that are completely trusting in Jesus for salvation and those that aren't and the later grope takes in all of the religions of the world. Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: The baptism with the Holy Ghost is once saved always saved and it has to be obtained on this side of the grave. The other option takes place if one does not completely trust in God's provision for salvation, His Son Jesus Christ. My wife was a Roman Catholic and I was a protestant and we were both lost. There was a point in my life when I turned to the Lord and called on Him to reveal the truth of His word to me I didn't know what religion was right, let alone what church. I just prayed and ask for His help. I started reading the only Bible that we had, which was my wife's, and from that time on God's word absolutely came alive to me. I gave up every thing that I was hoping would get me to heaven and turned to Jesus and what He had already done; I put as it were all my eggs in one basket and trusted in Christ completely. When I did this God revealed to me, from His word, that I had eternal life right here and now and I couldn't lose it! I didn't do anything to get it and I couldn't do anything to lose it; it all depended on Jesus and he never fails. There wasn't any sin that could condemn me because my Savior paid for all of them. I was so happy that I could scream; this was the most fantastic news that I had ever heard in my entire life and I wanted everyone to see it. The problem was now, everyone thought that I was nuts. Then I remembered the verse of scripture that says the only way a person can understand what I had found in Jesus would be if God himself would reveal it to them and this would be how He would build His Church. So you see all true believers are universal Christians but not all (so called) Christians are truly trusting in Jesus Christ for their salvation. Matthew 7:22-23 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Religion is man by man's efforts or works trying to gain God's approval. True Christianity is God doing all the work, and man just accepts it by faith and as a result God give those that completely trust in Jesus, eternal life as a free gift. In Christianity God gets all the credit and praise. So now Lisa you see where I stand. I don't want to be a protestant a catholic or and anything. I just want to tell everyone about my precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and what He did for them on the cross! So that they will drop all of the denomination stuff and Christ will save them. Not only are not all men are going to heaven, but the Bible says that the numbers are few by comparison. Matthew 7:13-14 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Jesus states that he is the gate therefore there aren't many who find him. John 10:9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. |

Hi Tim, Yes, since you mention it I do remember the Grandville Sharp rule. Thanks for the come back. Some times people seem to spend more time trying to explain away God's word instead of just believing it! There are a lot of translations out there. Sometimes for enjoyment I just like to sit down and read the Living Bible. It's not the best but it can sure be a blessing to those that aren't in to the meat of God's word or new believers. I just sent a copy to my eighty two year old uncle. He was a B-24 pilot in world war two and has been very bitter toward God as a result of a lot of very close friends that he lost. His father was a believer and loved Jesus very much, and would witness to my uncle a lot. This was my grandfather who died of Alzheimer's disease. His terrible dying tour my uncle up, that God would do such a thing to one of His own. I hadn't believed on the Lord until twenty years after his death. Anyway to make a long short my uncle is an agnostic. Every time my wife and I would take the one hundred mile trip over to visit my aunt and uncle, I would always find a way to talk to him about the Lord. He was always very bitter and negative toward anything I had to say about the Bible. This last time we went over was just before Thanksgiving and he was in a nursing home, my aunt has been living by herself for about six months and has not been able to bring him home in that period. I was able to bring him home for the day since I am strong enough to handle him. When I got him home he got big tears in his eyes and said that he never expected to see his home again. When I took him back to the nursing home later that day I told him how much I loved him and I gave him a big hug and a kiss. I didn't mention the Lord or the Bible on this trip at all but right out of a clear blue sky he ask me if I could get him a copy of the New Testament in large print; he said, oh well what do I know anyway! I went out of that place crying and praising the Lord. Needless to say I got him a copy of the Living Bible in giant print. I have been on my knees before the Lord praying that He would reveal the truth of Jesus to him. I sent the Bible by priority mail with a note that said, read the book of John and ask God to show you the truth of his word and I sure hope you believe God's word so you can be in on best family reunion in history. CDBJ P.S. any prayers for him would be highly appreciated; I don't think he has very long to go. |

1592 | Is is right to call money a seed? | NT general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 24054
Yes, I am afraid that you have confused me a little and you may want to try again. I was under the impression that IESOUS was Greek for Jesus. The, "A" that you described that the JHVH witnesses use in their bible, is translated (THE) in the KJV of the Bible and it is not a verb in the Greek, but a DETERMINER. It is the nominative, masculine, singular of the Greek word HO; it is an article in the English. Actually in the Greek language the absence of the definite article would put more emphasis on the verb, in the English it is just the opposite. I think if my memory serves me right, that the transitive verb gives all the credit to the object. It is the participle that describes its subject as a doer of the action denoted by the verb and the action of the aorist participle always precedes the action of the main verb, or something like that anyway the Koine Greek actually says that God was the Word. The English language turns everything around! Theos en ho logos. CDBJ |

Casiv, I have been watching these threads from a distance and I will be honest with you, I haven't got a clue sometimes what you are talking about! Some of the words that you use I can't even find in the English Hebrew or Greek. If you don't mind me asking what is Nolan's lesous and are we all supposed to have one? You also mentioned that Jehovah's witness want there "A"; is that a book, a surgical dressing or what since I know nothing of that cult. Please inform, CDBJ

The sneaking out or away of God's elect is the thought behind the whole concept of the left behind viewpoint. It is their unbiblical viewpoint of what it will be like after the rapture takes place. All those that are left behind are supposed to wonder where the believers went. It more or less gives them another chance to accept Jesus. The adversary would love to spread that message around. The truth is they won't have a chance after the rapture takes place! When the Lord comes for his own, as soon as we are out of here, God is going to clobber the unbelievers with fire, all on the same day as the rapture. 2 Thes. 1:9-10 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; 10When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. |

I read the Left Behind Series and they are giving a false hope to a lot of people that might not be believers at time of Christ return. They take text out of context to breed a hope that isn't going to be there after Christ returns for the Church. Those that are left behind after the rapture will have the same chance that the unbelievers had after the door of the ark was closed behind Noah. The same is true for those left behind after Lot left Sodom. As soon as Jesus takes up the believers from the Earth He is going to pour out His wrath on those that remain! Check out a few well known verses. 2 Thes. 1:6-10 God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you 7and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. 8He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power 10on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you. Reread this and notice the timing of when the Lord will do this in verse ten; this is the rapture. Those left behind are in verses eight and nine. It all happens on the same day. There isn't going to be any sneaking out of God's elect. This will be the most glorious day in the history of the world and every eye will see Him the lord of Glory. Rev. 1:7 Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen. He will come like a thief to those that aren't believers, but to the believers, He won't surprise them like a thief. 1 Thes. 5:1-5 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 4But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Paul speaks of two groups those in verse 1,2,4,5, are believers. The second group are in verse 3 which are they, the unbelievers. They shall not escape after left behind! I would like to suggest if you want a true understanding of what will happen in the end times, that you pick up a copy of a book by Robert Van Kampen called, THE SIGN. It is the best that I have ever read on eschatology and believe me I have read many. It is a real eye opener for those that want a clear picture. CDBJ |

Greetings in the Name of the LORD JESUS CHRIST; Your mention of the temple in New Delhi sounds impressive but I have been under the impression that God's Spirit dwelt in different temple. 1 Cor. 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? As far as being impressed, the only thing that has really impressed me, to a supernatural extent, in the last sixth some years has been a personal relationship with the risen living Lord, Jesus Christ. Having a relationship with Him has been so exciting that unless you have experienced it you wouldn't even have a frame of reference for what I'm talking about. Those that haven't had God communicate with them through his spirit don't know what they are missing. The problem is no one can get even close to God, except through Jesus to find out . All that try another way are just working them selves up into a frenzy, through religious ritual and they don't even know what a true relationship with God is! John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. These might just be words to some but I can personally tell you from my experience that it is truth, and faith in Jesus works! He did die over two thousand years ago but He sure is alive today and He is willing to reveal Himself to all those that will trust in Him. CDBJ |
