1481 | Did Jesus go to hell? | 1 Peter | justme | 80401
EdB: 2 Peter is quite relevent for the times were are in. False doctrines and theology are found in many strange place you once never thought possible. Quite recently one member of our church had a chance to give their opinion on giving to a missionary. When I informed this person that the missionary was a WOF the response "was so what!" I made some brief statement on WOF doctrine and the person turned on me. "For the lack of knowledge my people perrish" sound like something you have read? Peace. justme |

1482 | Did Jesus go to hell? | 1 Peter | justme | 80427
EdB: I could not have said it better. I have encountered this issue of WOF on the forum twice. To be honest after amny notes back and forth, frustrations were at ahigh pitch, and in and the outcome was a waste of time. As you said unless the Lord speakes to their death ears it is tragic. I am very much in line with Hank Hanegraaff's books and I think we have most if not all of his books. I try to listen to his brodcast when he comes on at 5pm here. In reality you are not on a soapbox, you are deeply concerned for those who have taken hellfire in their souls. Blessings EdB. Never stop preaching to me, you go for it! justme |

1483 | If we ask for healing does God answer no | 1 Peter | justme | 146672
Mitchbornagain: I read with amazement that you said "John the Baptist might not have been beheaded if he had not doubted God." This is a profound statement for you to make! This is twisting the meaning of Scripture to a new level, that I have never ever seen before! Remaining silent about your false understanding of the meaning of such a simple Scriptual text would be to give you an signal of agreement. I encourage you to look at Romans 14:22, which says I am to be careful in what I approve of. I loudly proclain you are totally off base!!! Having rerad a few of your notes, I wonder where your Scripture support comes from, as it looks like most of what you say is not Scriptual. This is a Bible Study forum, not an opinion forum, and I am amazed you neglected to notice the basics of how to respond to notes. Perhaps you should start fresh and reread your notes and either state your Scriptual evidence or retract and correct your mostly wild ideas. You make it clear that you are in the Word of Faith Movement. There are others that are in the forum that belong to the WOFM and are not just stating their opinion. I am deeply concerned that you have such a flawed view of healing. The physical decomposing of our earthly tent is a constant fact of nature that will end in physical death. Physical healing at best is only for a short number of years. Is it not better to be with the Lord than here? Paul believed to be with the Lord was gain for him. When I see that the emphasis on healing is proof of faith, or lack of healing is proof there is a lack of faith, I get rather red faced. How sad it is that this false theology is propergated and passed on by those who largely have never experienced walking in the valley of death. It seems easy to make such proclaimations of healings when you have never experienced real life threatening illness. Speaking from my personal experience of nearly 40 years of numerious serious life threatening illness, I have learned to seek to be in the center of God's will, and not tell Him what I want, but to seek His will, rather that mine. Perhaps you would like to dialogue about this, and I would be pleased to do so. I sincerely hope this gives you something else to consider before responding with just your learned from other flawed teachers. Blessings. justme |

1484 | If we ask for healing does God answer no | 1 Peter | justme | 146758
Mitch: Thanks for your note. It appears that your adding extra meaning to the text that just is not there. The KJV is a translation that has lost some of the word meanings in our culture today. When we compair words with their orignal intended meaning with the meanings of today there are huge problems, unless one fully understands what has been lost or changed in the last century. I fail to seen that John doubted what had been revield to him. John was not offended or ashamed of Christ as I read the text. Lets look at the purpose of John the baptizer. Was he not the forrunner of Christ? If John remained, then Jesus might well have not been seen as the only Son of God. John and Jesus were cousins, and they knew of each other. In fact John said he was unworthy to untie the strings on Jesus's sandels. This indicates John was aware that Jesus was of God. This would be especially true after hearing the voice from heaven proclaiming Jesus to be the Son of God whom the Holy Father Loved. I doubt if any of us today has heard the Holy Spirit in a audible voice that others could hear as well. This is the situation John was in when Jesus was baptized. I can not imagine that John was a doubted after this experience. I have never heard before anyone express that John was beheaded because he doubted that Jesus was God in human form, the God-Man of the Trinity. Mitch, I say this with respect, and kindness, I think your pretty off about John on this. I wish you would address the issue of healing for me. I would like to dialogue, without insults, but with respect and kindness. I praise your use of Scriptur to prove your points. We can agree to disagree, and not be disagreeable with one another. Blessings. justme |

1486 | Should I leave, or stay? | 1 Pet 2:1 | justme | 224147
Beja 1 Corinthians 7:10-11 Paul is addressing in verse 11 the part if a spouse leaves. There are reasons a wife would leave. Paul clearly stresses for separated partners to be reconciled. With that in mind examine a reason a christian wife would want to separate from her husband. This would be under the assumption her husband was a christian. There is no Scripture that says a husband or wife must stay living under the same roof with an abusive, drunken, unsafe, spouse. Can you support Scripture saying a spouse is allowed to be abusive to the other partner? I say this with respect and kindness Beja. In my ministry I have seen far too many wives submit to husbands who demanded "Biblical Submition". These men were not examples of a christian husband in any way. Those abusive husbands demanding submition, were involved in drunkeness, drug addictions, and physical abuse to the point of endangering the entire family. Wives and children have endured sexual violence and trauma that have life long physical, emotional and spiritual damage. I know of no place in the Bible that condemns a wife or children to such hell on earth. If anyone thinks a minister can be aware of abuse and not report it to the proper authorities, then they are in violation of the laws of our land. Slavery was outlawed in the nineteenth century. I am dogmatic on these points. Blessings. justme |

1488 | Why did Jesus Go to Hell | 1 Pet 3:19 | justme | 109429
EdB:-) Greetings brother. The wonderful good news is Abraham's Bosom is today empty! On Tuesday of this week Hank Hanegraaff's Bible Answer progran he spent a good amount of time on this subject. The Lutherns Creed sataes the word "hell" rather than paradise. You have received the "justme star of the day" award! Congradulations, well done. Blessings. justme |

1490 | CONDITIONAL ETERNAL SECURITY | 2 Pet 1:10 | justme | 62708
Pastor Glen: You are correct that this verse refers to a Christian. The Christian has becone so hard hearted and carnal, that he has gone beyond the point of repentance, not loss of salvation. Paul in 1 Corinthians 5:5 gave instructions to "hand this man over to satan, so that the sinful nature maybe destroyed and has his spirit saved on the day of the Lord." NIV. As I undersand this verse in Hebrews it is a Christian who can not be brought back to repentance. I think if you carefully do a word study of both verses mentioned in this note you might well come to the same conclusion. We are not saved by our works nor are we lost because of the lack of works. Salvation is by Grace plus nothing! Salvation is not withdrawn, but the beliver how has gone beyond being able to repent. This is a very serious spiritual condition. God in His wisdon does remove carnal Christians from this world. Hebrews chapter 12, is an example of what Godly discipline is. The key point of the verse is "being brought back to repentance". We should not ask questions of a verse that it is not dealing with. Simply put, this verse is not dealing with the loss of salvation, only the impossibility of further repenting. I hope this adds something more to think about. justme |

1493 | What would you do? | 2 Pet 2:13 | justme | 242583
Doc: I sincerely thank you and all who have been praying for my health. As it stands my clots are cooled down and are not collecting. Please pray this cooling down period stays for years to come. I pray it' so. Most of those in attending me felt that would not happen, so they were able to see us praise the Lord for this wonderful blessing. The Lord be praised for ever and ever. How many of you have been asked or heard the question by someone "where did Cain get his wife?" But more recently seeing people in church asking about Does the Blood Moons Jesus is now coming? Or about this so called Rabbi selling books about the end times. I feel sorry for people who are blown about by these preachers that get on a fanciful kick, to get Biblically ignorant people so worried so they will buy the latest book on the end of times. I have thought for many years if you want really large crouds preach on revelation and how the end of times is going to come so soon and you better buy this book so you will know what to look for. The ONLY book a genuine believer needs to know is the Bible. To become able to understand the Bible a person has to become a student, thus study the Bible. This as many of you know takes a desire to want to learn as much as you can about the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. I have come to a new way to answer those who have a question about the Bible. Instead of giving an answer or quoting a verse, I now ask the person if they have a Bible. If they say yes I write the verses on a paper, or as we are I will get my Bible and turn to the verse and have them read it. Giving quick answers does not teach anyone anything. I genuinely want to help people grow and have some confidence about how to look up places in the Bible/ Next Sunday when the pastor gives ta verse watch and see how many people can't find the place in the Bible. I see some who don't even try to look up what the pastor is preaching from. Sadly we have people in our churches that are more than 20 year old Christians who are still infants. They have no grasp of what is expected by the Lord for them as Christians. They have said a sinners prayer long time ago, and they are sure of their salvation, because their pastor said so at that time. One only has to watch some TV preacers in what might be called an alter call. They tell the people just say this prayer with me. Then they are told to call and tell us that you just said this prayer, and we will send a booklet to you. Not a word is said about repenting, or reading the Bible. When we see these Rabbi preachers, and the stirring up people with false fear just to buy and read their books we as mature Christians need o be willing to stand up and call it what it is, false teaching, for monetary benefit. So even these false teachers can be used to turn people to the real Jesus Christ. Blessings to you all. justme |

1495 | Do gays and lesobians go to hell? | 1 John 2:1 | justme | 92511
Everlearning:Could you please provide me with the Scripture that says Christians are forbidden to judge the eternal destiny of any other human being. My concern is that if we can not judge that Hitler was hell bound, which seems rather clear, than where is Gods justice? There are many more examples that meet the same purpose for illustration. Iraq's leaders are a case in point of todat. Does not scripture come out very specfically telling us that those who reject Christ are anti Christs? Are not anti Christs going to hell? Thank you for taking the time to dialogue your point. Looking forward to hear from you. justme |

1496 | Do gays and lesobians go to hell? | 1 John 2:1 | justme | 92581
Everlearning: I understand your point better now. I think when someone has lived a wicked evil life, and died being so, I would not spend one second tring to think they might have had a last breath change of heart. What comes to mind is the two brothers killed in Iraq, two weeks ago. Would you not agree? justme |

1497 | When will the Antichrist come ? | 1 John 2:18 | justme | 241830
Doc: I just this morning came to this thread. I read it from start to finish. This is filled with opinion, and lacks a genuine view of Scripture. Calling John MacArthur an anti-Christ violates John 13:34,35. Often when someone calls other's faults into the open or points out what they say is a sin in someone else, it's really the accuser that has the very issues they are accusing others of. I find some who wrote so harshly, have missed he true Gospel "boat" altogether. (my word picture) Finding a response that represents the way Jesus himself would reply, might well be no response at all but allow a person to prove they are foolish as Proverbs describes. in some verses. Unless Scriptural proof is used, it's just opinion. Even then we as brothers and sisters can disagree, when verses are dealing with minor issues. Foot washing falls into that kind of debate. But the essentials, or core Doctrines of the Scripture there is no room for debate and even then answering with gentleness often is best. Blessings. justme |

1498 | I wan to YEILD | 1 John 5:13 | justme | 88880
Hank: I too hear a lot about spending eternity away form God, and enduring until the end. I recall hearing or reading that more is mentioned about hell than heaven. I have never checked it out for my self to see if the statement is true. Have you heard this too? Christianity Today had an article, I saw in the last 6 months, that said that a good number of graduating Seminary students did not believe in a literal hell, some doubted the virgin birth, and several other areas that realy distribed me. Hank have you seen this kind of article? If some pastors come out disbelieving some of the very foundations of the Christian faith, no wonder we have so many neo-orthodox liberal churches! Now please allow me to quote a Arkansas fellow. Those people who choose to go to hell one day will say "It hurts like hell". Justme |

1499 | I wan to YEILD | 1 John 5:13 | justme | 88883
Hank: To be very up front, I have really struggled with when I was really saved. I clearly remenber at the age of 8 praying to recieve Christ. I am sure at that point my statement of faith was genuine, However I believe some of us take a long time to get to the point of real repentance. I believe we are called to repent, and with out repentance everything will be totally off. I do see salvation as a coin. On one side is recievibg Christ, the other side is obediance. By that I mean repentance, baptism and maturing in the Lord. I believe we are being saved, which is active renewal of our total being into Christ. I hope I am making myself clear. For me it took a long time to hear what I was lacking. I do not believe in a second blessing, or that to speak in tongues is a sign of of salvation. I do believe unless there is a real change of sinful direction, then there is a flaw in our faith. I have been able to think about this for a more than two decades, and it has not been easy for me to come to this conclusion about my own experience, and spiritual journey in maturing more in Christ likeness. I also believe satan will do whatever it takes to influence us to believe we are not saved, or anything to discourage us. I hope this helps in a better way to explain my experienced. I am experiencing what 1 percent of those going through radiation get, ALL the worst of the side effects. This is a real hard mountian to climb. I am blessed as Jesus is carring me. The end of the treatments stop at the end of July. Then only time will tell. I dwell in the Psalms, Romans, and Matthew. I can say the family who walks beside one with this illness suffer more than the ill person! Thank you for your concern and prayers. Blessings to you old wise Arkansas brother. justme |
