NightJay0044, Greetings and Gods best to you this day. A little encouragement for you here.Read Philippians chapter 4,James 1:1-6,2 Peter 1:1-11. God never promised us a life free of challenge,but he does tell us that our joy is not dependant on the circumstances. We can have joy no matter what the circumstances may dictate. Good day brother, I read the post you were refering to and the above mentioned passage of scripture (1 Sam 15:1-4). I think we both know God never contradicts Himself. What we are looking at here is Gods execution of judgement. The judgement here in this case was death. What is being stated here is judgement and not murder. In Christ, lionheart |

kalos, Godbless you dear brother. We seem to forget at times that all true healing is of God whether it be directly from or God working through a doctor or other healthcare professional. You named several issues that I deal with daily,but by Gods grace and divine providence he enables me to continue on with what He's called me to do. The sin is not availing ourseves of what God has so graciously suppied us. Once again thank you my brother, I needed that. In Christ, lionheart |

149 | what is the church of christ? | Bible general Archive 3 | lionheart | 167302 | ||
gospelman, Greetings,actually it's not as deep and complicated as we make it out to be. We will inevitabely get into trouble when we pursue things along denominational lines,it never fails. But it becomes very clear and simple when Gods Word is allowed to speak for itself. Takes all the guess work out of things. 1 Corinthians 12 addresses the whole subject with great clarity and understadability. Att to vs 27. No matter what differences we may have,if we are to beleive what God tells us in His Word then we gotta know that it is totally available for us to be unified and like minded. In Christ, lionheart |

atdcross, But there can be a diffrence regarding repentance unbeliever and beliver.Paul talks about Godly sorrow versus worldly sorrow in 2 Cor 7:9-11. One leads to salvation (life)) the other to death. Are we sorry because we got caught or do we have a godly sorrow,a broken heart for having hurt God and those I have hurt. Only then will one truly repent,Worldly sorrow is temporary at best. This is something we as beleivers need to be particularly cognisant of. We may be saved,but unless we keep a godly focus every day we can fall prey to things just as well as anyone else. I'm an alcholic,addict with 16 years clean and sober.I didnt get the sober part till I became a disciple of Jesus Christ almost eleven years ago. I'll share this with you- As a user I got drunk,I got high because I wanted too. Yes there were alot of things that influenced what I did,but the bottom line is I did this stuff because I wanted too. There was no deliverence,no salvation till I got broken about my sin (Godly sorrow.). When I had that godly sorrow thats when God could take my life to do what he has always wanted to do with it.I have not lived one milisecond to regret that descission eleven years ago. I can tell you there are more times than I can remember wher I fealt really bad about what I was doing,I would tell people that I was sorry,I would even tell God I was sorry.Those were about as low a time for me as I can think of.But it was always back to bussiness as usual. None of that ever changed till Jesus Christ became Lord and Savior of my life. So you see my brother there is a difference where the world and the believer are concerned. The believer is broken about there sin where as the unbelieving world is only sorry. No change with any permancey can take place until one comes to God with a godly sorrow. As believers this is doublely important,there is nothing in Gods Word that says we cant be in denial about our sin. When one is in denial can be as enslaved as the next person. Where we have the unsurpassing advantage that as disciples of Jesus Christ we dont have to stay in denial,we are no longer lonerangers,we have someone that empowers us to live the lives he's called us to. The unbeliever will never do that till they come to Jesus Christ with a saving faith, which goes way beyond worldly sorrow. In Christ, lionheart |

NightJay0044, Good evening brother.The message conveyed by the bible as a whole is and should be taken literaly, I agree with CDBJ though,within that message are many figures of speach,symbolisms,orientalims,metephore and the such.Much of Jesus teaching was done via the parable. One instance that comes to me is where Jesus tells us of faith and moving mountains.Now I've never heard of anyone moving mountains,but I can testify to this-It took faith to move mountains to get me into the kingdom. 2Timothy 3:16 tells us that all scripture is God breathed and that it's profitable,be it literal or metaphoric,Gods Word carries life application to everything we are and do in this life and that to come. WingsofAngels, Godbless you dear sister,it has always been peoples heart to be critical.People will oft times will read our lives before ever picking up a bible. People will make judgements about God based on what they see in us. Romans 3:23 tells us we've all fallen short. We are all under the same sentence, the thing that differentiates you and I from your friend at this present time is that you and I have Gods gift of grace in his precious Son our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and thats where you want to get your friend to. A couple of things here dear heart. 1. Let him see the Christ in you living in what you do.Colossians 1:27. 2.Jesus tells us to let the light shine Matt 5:16. Walk in such a way that it's clearly evident what your all about. That doesnt mean ya gotta be perfect.It's just not doable for us at this time. But when we are walking the talk consistently people will respond to that in one way or another. Read Isaiah 55:11 it will help give you some perspective. Keep being his friend,keep praying for him. Just make sure you are gaurding your heart and getting lots of advice from fellow believers. It might even be best if the brothers get in there with him and try and build a friendship with him and work with him.He will either respond or not.In any case then you have done what you can. I'll remember you and this boy in my prayers. Keep the faith dear. In Christ, lionheart you |

MiskyBlue, Welcome to the forum. Just to clarify some things here, 2 Timothy 3:16a- All scripture is inspired by God. (God breathed) God is the author,men wrote it 2 Peter 1:20,21. The difference in style and accounts reflect those who did the writting. So what we have is the inspired Word of God written by holy men of God. In Christ, lionheart |

Misty, Greetings dear sister. Ya did fine. Nothing to be sorry about. Oft times people will get all wound up and confused over this very subject. Men may have written the bible but God has always been the sole author and will always retain authorship. The different individuals who wrote the bible explain the different writting styles. All these things are meant to shed light on the truth of Gods Word. Thus 2 Peter 1:20,21 and 2 Timothy 2:15. No misunderstanding dear heart, you keep sharing and giving your heart and watch for the great things God will do. Even us old veterans can still learn a thing or two. In Christ, lionheart |
