141 | Why so blind? | 1 Cor 13:12 | Aspiring Overseer | 91675
GeorJoy, 1) Satan. Matt 7:15-23 15"Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16"You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes, nor figs from thistles, are they? 17"Even so, every good tree bears good fruit; but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18"A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. 19"Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20"So then, you will know them by their fruits. 21"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. 22"Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' 23"And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.' NAS Isa 56:11 11And the dogs are greedy, they are not satisfied. And they are shepherds who have no understanding; They have all turned to their own way, Each one to his unjust gain, to the last one. NAS Mark 12:32-33 32And the scribe said to Him, "Right, Teacher, You have truly stated that He is One; and there is no one else besides Him; 33and to love Him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as himself, is much more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices. " NAS Rom 1:31-32 31without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; NAS James 3:13-14 13Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. 14But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. NAS What about religious fanatics? Prov 18:2 2A fool does not delight in understanding, But only in revealing his own mind. NAS 2) The gospel is hidden to pagans: 2 Cor 4:2-4 3And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 142 | i'm still not getting this | Matt 12:31 | Aspiring Overseer | 91655
Consider this: Someone who sins against God, but repents, is forgiven. In fact, is not all sin against God? If a person sins against the H. S. they are rejecting the teaching, or instructions, from God, and by implication, are practising these deeds. As long as a person continues to reject the word of God, they have no salvation. So the issue is whether the sinner feels remorse to repent or not. If they commit sin with disregard of God's master plan (as provided by the H. S.)then they will be eternally unclean. AO |

143 | What scripture quotes name of "beloved d | John 21:20 | Aspiring Overseer | 91468
George, Is this what you seek? John 21:20-24 20Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them; the one who also had leaned back on His breast at the supper, and said, "Lord, who is the one who betrays You?" 21Peter therefore seeing him said to Jesus, "Lord, and what about this man?" 22Jesus said to him, "If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow Me!" 23This saying therefore went out among the brethren that that disciple would not die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but only, "If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you?" 24This is the disciple who bears witness of these things, and wrote these things; and we know that his witness is true. Mike, Say someone works for a company whose "master plan" is to make a profit. That person can either decide to do good work and benefit or do shoddy work and suffer the consequences. Either way the company's master plan has stayed the same. They are still there to make a profit. Additionally, why would this employee, who knows that his company's motives are pure and that his work there supports himself and his family, fail to live up to his end of the employment contract? Is it not within the employee's scope of responsibility to serve his employer as his employer directs? Why does the employee decide to jeopardize his own welfare? Why would God require anything less for His creation? AO |

155 | Having yet not knowing one has | Romans | Aspiring Overseer | 90104
George, Originally you asked, "Can one have recieved the Holy spirit and not know?". In your last response you said, "Once again, I will reveal my ignorance by stating that although currently I have no biblical foundation for the following statement, I believe there is one. I (think) they, the Holy Spirit and The Holy Ghost are two completely different things.". Which question do you wish to discuss? If the first, consider if it is possible for a person to be "in Christ" and not know it. In other words, to be a Christian and not know it. The passage from Romans discusses a Christian's position as walking according to the Spirit, or in other words, God's will. If a person does not know how to become a Christian, then how will they know God's will? Does this make sense? AO |

John, Rom 9:14-16 14What shall we say then? There is no injustice with God, is there? May it never be! 15For He says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion." 16So then it does not depend on the man who wills or the man who runs, but on God who has mercy. NAS Some people say this passage speaks of man's inability to change the master plan of God, and that His plan is for man to chose Him. Mankind can not change the plan, but they can change their role in it. Does that make salvation centered on man or God? AO |

Rom 8:1-11 8:1There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. 3For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, 4in order that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 5For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, 7because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so; 8and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. 9However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. 10And if Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who indwells you. NAS Can a person be in Christ and not know it? Can a person set his mind on the things of the spirit if he does not have the HS? Can a person set his mind on the things of the spirit unless he is in Christ? AO |

158 | Does Heb 6 support "always saved"? | Bible general Archive 1 | Aspiring Overseer | 90023
Justme, I agree, many people do go to great lengths to prove their assertions. God is not a God of confusion, is he? Why must scripture be interpreted through the prism of what we want it to be rather than just reading it for what it says? Heb 6:4-6 4For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God, and put Him to open shame. NAS Can you clarify this? AO |
