The whole of the Jewish Boble is refered to as the "Tanakh". The word Tanach is actually a Hebrew Acronym, that refers to Torah,Neviim, and Khetuvim. The word Torah, which literally means "teaching" refers to the Five Books of Moses. The word Neviim is the Hebrew word for "Prophets", The word "Khetuvim" is the Hebrew for the word "Writings". When you take the first letters of each word together, you get the word "TaNaKH", (The extra vowels (the two "a"s) are there simply to give the word some sounding). Torah, Neviim, and Ketuvim, are really considered sections. Amongst each section are the books allready refered to. ebrain. |

There are actually three divisions to that part of our Bible that we christians refer to as the Old Testament. They are. THE TORAH the first five books allready refered to. THE PROPHETS consist of eight books: Joshua, Judges, 1st and 2nd Samuel, 1st and 2nd Kings, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, The Twelve Prophets (Hosea; Joel; Amos; Obadiah; Jonah; Micah; Nahum; Habakkuk; Zephaniah; Haggai; Zechariah; Malachi). THE WRITINGS consist of eleven books: Psalms, Proverbs, Job, The Song of Songs, Ruth,Lamentations, Ecclesiastes, Esther, Daniel. Ezra and Nehemiah, 1st and 2nd Chronicles. This division, or something similar to it was refered to by our Lord at Luke 24 vs 27 and 44. ebrain. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

145 | After feast at the Jews Jesus went where | Bible general Archive 3 | ebrain | 178249
When you say after Jesus feed the Jews, I am taking this to refer to the feeding of the 5000 as refered to at Matthew 14:13-21 if so in this case He went up on the mountain to pray as shown at verses 22-23 of this chapter. If on the other hand you are refering to the feeding of the 4000, then He got into the boat and went to the region of Magadan, see Matthew 15:39 but I have a feeling that this is not the answer you are looking for, if so can you be more specific by quoting, Book, Chapter, and verse/verses. Thank you. ebrain. |

The Holy Spirit is given to everyone who believes, as recorded at Ephesians 1:13-14, but no one other than Jesus had all the gifts that the Holy Spirit has to give. Please read the whole of Chapter 12 of 1 Corinthians, and especially vs 27-31, Although every christian is indwelt by the Holy Spirit, and will enjoy one, or possibly more than one gift,he will not have all of them as Jesus did, and further more, other christians will have different gifts. I hope that this is of some help. May the Lord bless you abundantly, and keep you safe. ebrain. |

149 | In heaven are we male or female? | Bible general Archive 3 | ebrain | 172879
Thank you for your post annointed child. A spiritual body yes, but also still a physical one, we are told quite a lot in the Bible about the spiritual body. Read 1 Cor 15:42-58. John 20:19-23. Luke 24:31-43. John 20:15. Luke 24:31. A spiritual body is flesh and bone, has internal organs, lungs, a digestive system, is able to appear, and dissappear at will, can pass through solid material, has the same marks it had before death (nail prints), is not allways recognised at first. |

150 | luke 23:34 | Luke 23:34 | ebrain | 171877
Hi again WOS. Sorry for the delay, have a look please at John 20:30-31. Now Elijah performed miracles, but was not the Christ, Elisha performed miracles, but was not the Christ, Moses performed miracles, but was not the Christ. John says at v31 "But these" refering to what I have said before, certain miracles that only the Messiah when He came would be able to perform. John makes it quite clear that Jesus performing "these" miracles prove beyond any shadow of doubt that He is the Christ. Now please read the whole of Ch 9 of John. What had our Lord done, but to give sight to one born blind, a good deed, there is no Scripture forbidding doing good deeds on the Sabbath, so why were the Pharisees so extreem, so over the top in there opposition to Him, even going so far as to excomunicate the one who had his sight given to him? Note v32, and also v41, where our Lord uses the words "blind", and "see", with the meaning of knowledge, in other words "You know very well who I am, and therefore "Your guilt remains". All scripture references are from the ESV May the Lord bless you WOS, and all who use this web site. pabrain. |

152 | luke 23:34 | Luke 23:34 | ebrain | 170866
Thank you WOS for your reply. 1. Mark is only giving the gist of what Matthew, and Luke had to say at this point in the text. In Luke 22:70, in the ESV, it reads "You say that i am",and in Matthew 26:64, in the ESV, it reads, "You have said so". This in no way disagrees with Mark who is only giving a summation of what Jesus said, ie, Mark is saying that Jesus's words amount to an admission that He is indeed the Christ, and this could just as well be expressed by the statement "I AM", which in fact is what He was claiming anyway, even if He used different words. I believe that what our Lord intended to convey was that He knew exactly what they had said about Him in private, behind closed doors, ie, that they knew very well that He was in fact the Christ. "You have (past tense) said that i am". Now dealing with No's 2, and 3. The Pharisees taught that anyone could perform miracles who was empowered to do so by the Holy Spirit (Matt12:27), but that there were certain miracles that only the Messiah when He came would be able to preform. These miracles included, clensing the leper, (several instances), opening the eyes of a person born blind,(John 9:1-34), casting out a dumb spirit, (Matt 12:22-32), and raising the dead when that person had been dead at least three days, this last one explains John 11:5-6. and also verse 15. I hope that the above is of some help in explaining my view point. Every blessing. Edwin Brain. |

153 | Is the Raptur a real event? | John 14:3 | ebrain | 170846
No there is no such verse, it is my way of drawing attention to the fact that there are two groups of verses, one group shows that the second comming will be very public, ie, "every eye will see Him". Whereas the other group of verses indicate that His Return will be the very opposite, ie, "like a theif in the night". These two sets of verses cannot possibly refer to the same event, therefore, there must be two seperate visits to earth by our Lord in respect of His second comming, one where He does not come down to the surface, but remains in the air above the ground, as He "raptures" His bride, the church, the other when He does come all the way back to the surface to carry out judgment. |

Thank you WOS for your post. In reply, let me ask you three questions. (1) When the high priest asked Jesus "are you the Christ", why did He not answer "yes", as he told us we must do, see Matt 5:37, but said "You have said so",? see Matt 26:64. (2) When the people at Matt 12:23, said "Can this be the Son of David", why did the Pharisees respond in the way that they did? see Matt 12:22-32. (3a) have a look at John 11:5-6, and tell me how can staying two days longer show Jesus's love for Lazarus, and his two sisters? (3b) Why did Jesus say at verse 15, "I am glad that I was not there"? |

156 | Questions I'm trying to answer | Joshua | ebrain | 168941
Upon reflection it was unwise of me to type "Bible Codes" in the last line of the above post, it would have been better to have used "Subliminal Material". It is true that a great deal of nonsense has been published on the subject of "Bible Codes", and this has done a lot of harm to the genuine study of Biblical Subliminal material. There is no way in which I would consider using this information as an aid to Fortune Telling, or attepting to predict future events. As I have said before, this sumliminal information, only goes to show that no one other than the Lord our God could possibily have produced this Book, the Bible. |

157 | Questions I'm trying to answer | Joshua | ebrain | 168893
Hi Jeff. The answer to both your questions is, not so far as I am aware. All that I was refering to was "subliminal" material, not messages. As others have said, this is proof positive that only God could have written the Bible. Now here is a question for all except you Jeff, and Mark, as both of you know the answer. What did Jesus mean, when He said what is recorded at John 8:28."When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am". (NKJ) note "he", is not found in the greek, which is "ego ame", and should be rendered as "I AM". Let me give you a clue, read Johm 19:21. Remember we are talking about "Bible Codes". I am looking forward to reading what you come up with. |

Esther I am told does in fact contain the name LORD, but only subliminaly, in the Hebrew, if you take every 21 st letter it spells out "yod" "hey" "vah" "hey". "I AM". Source, I think is Chuck Missler of khouse.org |
