141 | Trinity (again)? | Acts 2:38 | charis | 29609
Dear Johnny, Greetings in the name of Jesus! Friend, this is a bit confusing. I have never heard a 'Trinitarian' say that the Father is the Son is the Holy Spirit. This sounds a lot more like 'Oneness' or 'Modalism' to me. However, to say that the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are not the same person is a bit beyond traditional 'Trinitarian' theology. Perhaps you mean that the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are the three Persons of the Godhead, and He is one God? Another common way to state it is that the Father is God, Jesus is God, and the Holy Spirit is God, and there is but one God. Would this be your belief? Blessings to you, too. 142 | Multi-(G)god Universe? | Acts 2:38 | charis | 29808
Dear Johnny, Greetings in the name of Jesus! Friend, please allow me to ask you a few questions to clarify your beliefs about God. Do you believe there are two Gods (with a capital 'G'), the Father in heaven and Jesus at His right hand, and a Holy Spirit who is not God? Do you believe that there are other gods (with a small 'g') that are equally powerful to God(s)? Are these gods the 'superior beings' in charge of other religions? (such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, etc.) Were these gods created by God(s), by man, or are they synchronous (the same time) with God(s)? Are Gods and gods sharing the faith of the planet in a friendly manner, or are the battling over believers? If they are friends, is this a game? If they are enemies, who will win? I would appreciate your answers to the above questions to show us how your multi-(G)god universe works. Thank you. In Christ Jesus, charis |

143 | Apostles Spirit-led? | Acts 2:38 | charis | 38731
Dear Joe! Greetings in the name of Jesus! While I agree with the things you wrote in reply to Andrew, you did not address the original question at all. 'Apparently the apostles baptized in the name of Jesus. Was this a revelation from the Holy Spirit after Jesus said in Matthew 28:19 to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit?' Were the actions of the apostles mistakes? Were they 'abbreviating' the 'formula?' Or, just maybe, the Holy Spirit led them to baptize in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ? It DOES seem that the Spirit led Paul to write: "Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father." Colossians 3:17 NASB It also seems that the leaders of the Jews were aware that this name was dangerous to their religious tradition: "And when they had summoned them, they commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus." Act 4:18 NASB. Please note that I am not denouncing the Trinitarian method, nor denying the command of the Lord in Matthew 28. I am not 'Jesus-only' or 'Oneness.' I am simply stating that baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ is Biblical and valid. Sadly, mere humans seem to have a penchant for going a step or two (or more!) further than the leading of the Spirit of God. This applies equally to the 'Jesus-ONLY' camp and the 'Trinitarian Formula-ONLY' camp. The zeal of both of these camps leads them beyond the simplicity of Scriptural teaching, IMHO. Peace to you in Christ Jesus, charis |

144 | Baptized WITH the name...? | Acts 2:38 | charis | 38754
Dear JMSCOTT, Greetings in the name of Jesus! Friend, I am a bit confused about your post. I have read the proferred Scriptures, and don't understand your point. You wrote: 'If you read the whole chapter of Acts 11....peter had a vision(trance)...he baptized with water at first....then he remememberd(holy spirit)and baptized with the name of the fatherand son and holy spirit....which all have names!' (end quote) Baptized WITH the name...? I thought that we are baptized IN the name. Then you said that 1 Corinthians releases us from the Law (of water), but then go back in time to a 'new one' in Matthew 28. Would you please explain what you mean? In Christ Jesus, charis |

145 | Confidence? | Acts 4:13 | charis | 7046
Dear saints, What was the 'confidence' that was observed in Peter and John? Can we have it? What did education and training have to do with it? In Jesus, charis |

146 | How did early saints know the faith? | Acts 6:7 | charis | 5248
Saints, For more than a thousand years, few believers had their own Bible, or even had personal access to one. How did they know 'the faith' in order to be obedient to it? In Christ Jesus, charis |

147 | Allowed to wish all a Happy Easter? | Acts 12:4 | charis | 3492
"And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people." Acts 12:4 KJV Greetings and blessings to all this blessed day of Easter in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ! In Japan, it is already Monday. Here, Easter is translated 'Fukkatsu-sai' or 'Resurrection Celebration.' We had a wonderful Sunday. As a prophet spoke, "Though there is no need to honor special days, this day of resurrection is to remind you that every day is special in Christ the Risen Savior." In Jesus' name, charis |

150 | SAFE? | Romans | charis | 21781
Dear Hank, Greetings in the name of Jesus! Do you call the 'middle ground' of this issue SAFE? :-) You've got to be kidding! This is probably one of the more dangerous (courageous!) stands I have taken. But I think I would rather stay where I am, buffeting and all, than go with one of the 'mainstream' contradictory sides. It seems to me that the narrow gate, narrow path is better than the broad avenues on either side! :-) Blessings, my friend, in Christ Jesus, charis |

151 | Huge Impact? | Romans | charis | 21992
Dear Joe! Greetings in Jesus' name! Guilty of some (but I hope not all! :-)) of the above! No theological training, non-confessional, and I can't read Aramaic. As an illiterate, I humbly ask you what the 'huge impact on the conduct, assurance, and evangelism of believers' is? Please use little words :-) Bless you, my brother, in Christ Jesus, charis |

152 | What explanation would you like? | Rom 1:18 | charis | 67539
Dear ateo, Greetings in the name of Jesus! Friend, what explanation would you like to hear? The 'line of reasoning' you deny is quite plausible. Many scholars for close to two thousand years have wrestled with the 'differences' in the Bible. The sum of their studies is: 1)The Bible IS the infallible word of God, the minor 'differences' are really a matter of vantage or incomplete knowlege, and their significance dims in the light of Truth; or 2)The Bible is just a story with little credibility. After studying the lives of these scholars (both kinds), I find that I much prefer the fruit borne of the believers. Now if we talk about 'normal' people, like you and me (unless you are abnormal! :-)), I also tend to look at the difference in fruit. From another post I gather you once believed, but now don't. And you seem bent on proclaiming the 'mistakes' of the Scriptures. Have you found peace and comfort in your quest for accuracy? Do you bear the fruit of joy and hope? Let me hazard a guess: Something (usually someone) hurt you, so you blame God, the Bible, and-or the church. I doubt seriously that you 'came to your senses' by the light of pure, analytical truth. If I am wrong, and you claim to enjoy the kind of good fruit promised in the Bible, then you are either a rare Gentile or living in denial. If I am right, then return to the Lord, ask for this fruit, and the Bible will again make sense. Blessings and peace in Christ Jesus, charis |

153 | Is it primary...? | Rom 15:5 | charis | 6689
Dear Lionstrong, Is it primary that we first agree on what is primary, making it secondary to agree on what is secondary? Or, is it secondary to agree on what is primary, therefore primary to agree on what is secondary? Or, are all these trinary when compared to the primary issues, which are to agree what is secondary after agreeing what is primary? Or... Maybe we should talk about Jesus, the King of kings, the Way, the Truth, the Life. Not "Curious George" questions and ...ological intricacies that steer us away from Jesus, and life in Him. In Christ Jesus, charis |

154 | Visit other churches? | Rom 16:16 | charis | 33949
Dear Saints of the forum, Just curious, but for those among you that are committed members of a local church: How many other churches have you visited in say, the last 5 years? Of those, how many were of different denominations? Someone is going to ask, "Why do you ask?" I'll tell you after I get some answers! :-) In Christ Jesus, charis |

155 | End justifies means? | 1 Cor 1:21 | charis | 45378
Dear saints, Blessings to all in Jesus' name! Does this verse mean that the 'end justifies the means' in the preaching of the Gospel? (I have heard such said in defense of preaching a 'fun' or 'cool' Gospel, or the 'Prosperity Message.' i.e. "Whatever brings 'em to Christ is OK!") In Christ, charis |

156 | Steward of the mysteries of God? | 1 Cor 4:1 | charis | 1887
Dear brethren in Christ, What does it mean to be a 'steward of the mysteries of God?' In Jesus, charis |

157 | Attitude? | 1 Cor 4:1 | charis | 1961
Dear prayon, good answer. What attitude should we have concerning these mysteries? What principles of stewardship apply? In Jesus, charis |

158 | Are there (then) no mysteries? | 1 Cor 4:1 | charis | 2051
Dear JVH0212, Though (isn't it interesting how often we all use 'but,''though,''however,' etc. :-) I agree with the above definitions in a theological sense, I must ask, "Are there (then) no mysteries?" I ask this on behalf of the many Christian believers that don't have the 'faith' to understand all the 'revealed' mystery of God. In other words, these mysteries are revealed in faith, but maybe not in a 'logical' manner. For instance: Jesus is God, but became a man in order to repeal the sin of believers. This is revealed by the Spirit to us, and must be accepted in our hearts by faith, not in our minds. Our minds cannot accept this, being a spiritual concept. Another: Why did God choose some, and not others? The mind rebels and says, "God is unfair!" The heart believes that God is just, and trusts Him. There are many, but one more: When, and under what circumstances will the Lord return? Just like the 'sensationalist press,' YOU want to know! But the Bible states clearly that "...these things are hidden..." We are told, "Wait...for I am coming quickly." These things are all mysteries not revealed to the mind. The world is totally baffled, and the 'pursuit of details' has divided the church for millennia. Many things were meant to be, yea, calculated to be hidden from our minds. Indeed, in faith we trust God, and He blesses us with peace in our hearts. I believe that many (not all) Christian scholars would be better off to stop their 'mind-satisfying' dwelling on details, and focus on the 'primary' things of God. This would make them not only 'knowers' of God, but practitioners of faith, and preachers of the Gospel, which is the calling of all. Being a 'steward of the mysteries of God' would mean (also) that we have the courage to say, "I don't know how or why, but I know that God IS." (my paraphrase of "For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day." 2 Timothy 1:12 KJV.) 159 | *Only* symbolic? | 1 Cor 10:16 | charis | 6653
Dear Gail60, The question was, "...*only* symbolic?" The *only* makes a difference. (Ask any Trinitarian about 'Jesus*only*' :-) No, communion is not *only* symbolic. It does affect your walk in Christ in a real sense. Jesus did not 'go through the motions' in order to give us a dead ritual. It is true that the Bible does not support a 'mystical transubstantiation,' but Holy Communion is more than a 'mere' symbol. The difference is decided by faith, which has real consequences in our lives. Blessings in Christ Jesus, charis |

160 | Communion, how often? | 1 Cor 11:25 | charis | 4189
Saints, How often should communion be taken (received), and why? I understand that there no absolutes mentioned in the Bible, but I would like to hear some ideas. In Christ Jesus, charis |
