133 | Exgays only - tell how to stop being gay | Bible general Archive 1 | jbw | 84518
I will pray like it was me for you both. I have not had that experience but I use to be a heavy smoker before the Lord Jesus saved me. I tried to quit on my own for years. But I couldn't I was hooked. I mean really hooked. (now this was before the gum and all of these new fangled products)I used to turn over in my bed and take a hit off a cigarette them resume sleeping. Somehow even before I accepted Christ I knew I had to be new. (Now this is not to say that you can't not be saved and smoke I knew that it wasn't the way the Lord would have for me.) Then one day I read where if any man was in Christ he would be a new creature 2 cor 5 vs. 17. I began to tell the Lord all about me and my habit. I wasn't saved at the time but I was going to this church and I wanted salvation so bad. That if someone had of told me to climb to the top of the empire state building I would have. One day I decided to go to a church service and out of the clear blue sky the Pastor asked me if I wanted Christ in my life. I began to weep bitterly, (I had already made up in my mind that after that church service I wasn't going to attend church again, I thought that maybe I had did something to bad for the Lord Jesus to save me) But as sure as I am writing The Lord Jesus and His father came in and made their abode in me. And with it came complete deliverance from smoking. I never needed a patch, or gum. I never experience any side effects like weight gain, or moodiness and I have been free for 19 years now. I know that it is no comparison to your problem. But it was a problem a life style I had to deal with. I did have to do what you did though I had to find the originator of my smoking. It started when I was 13, I use to watch my siblings do it and it seemed like fun at first. Then it elevated to me lighting there cigarettes on the stove for them and taking puffs to lit it and taking it to them. Before you know it I was holding cigarettes and pulling off of them while one of my older brothers was lifting weights. Before long I was hooked. I know that there is no comparison, but I do know that if you continue to go before the Lord and tell him all about your problem. And when you despise it as much as GOD despises sin you will receive complete healing from that thing I believe it. To be in a room with smoke literally sends me into convulsions no lie. I will pray fervently for you both because I know what God is able to do. And remember some things comes by fasting and prayer Matthew 17 vs. 21...My prayer partner and I will wear heaven out for you....
134 | If this is a parable, what does it teach | Bible general Archive 1 | jbw | 84516
Question 1. This is not a parable, this is an actually event that happen an encounter that the Lord Jesus was referencing. Normally when Jesus was using a parable He would reference things pertaining to the person's live style or what have you. example a sower went out to sow. Or a farmer went out to harvest. He did not do this in this case. Question 2. It's not a parable. I believe that the Lord Jesus was telling them that you will be aware of your surroundings when you leave here. The rich ruler knew Abraham, Abraham has been dead decades I'm sure but the rich ruler was certain (aware) that it was Abraham. So you will know people and you will know the people who you leave behind. Question 3. If there is any symbolic purpose regarding the flame it is that if you die without Christ you have hell for your reward. I personally thought that the Lord Jesus didn't spend much time talking about hell. I thought he talked about the living and how to live. These are just my thoughts...... |

137 | Explan "Separation of Church and State". | Ex 18:1 | jbw | 84013
What defines the Church? The Church is a body of believers who believe in the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Whose ultimate goal is to win the lost to Christ. And live a life that's pleasing to God. Webster's defines a "state" as "the supreme public power within a sovereign political entity." Thus, what constitutes a "state" is expressly characterized by the existence of a law making and law enforcing power. You are correct both are built on the laws and principals of God. But Church and State should be separate. Church principals and laws are for those who desire to live a life that's pleasing to God. Even if we make a blunder your ultimate goal is to win the lost to Christ, Live a life that's pleasing to God and hope in his soon return. The State is for the save and unsave. It's principals are based solely on living comfortably with your neighbor peacefully if you can. Do good if you choose. To be a part of the state you don't have to be born again just be born into the world. Now based on the scripture below Church and State should be separate...This is just my point of view... 1 Cor 2:14 But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. |

138 | Is my marriage o.k. in God's eyes? | Hebrews | jbw | 83947
There are many doctrines out here and different interpretation of the scriptures. Matt 19:8 He *said to them, "Because of your hardness of heart Moses permitted you to divorce your wives; but from the beginning it has not been this way. Then the scriptures says what God has put together let no man put assunder. How many marriages did God really put together????? I mean really??? I personally have never met anyonee and said I'm in love with his mind. My attraction was first physical, the rest came after getting to know him. I've been married twice. The first was for infidelity on his part. The second was he had eyes for my oldest daughter. So tell me was I suppose to stay in that marriage? I first sent my daughter to live with her father and I later left and thence divorced. Jer 17:9 says that "The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it? I had no idea that his heart was like that. So was I suppose to stick around? No Phil 2:12 So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; You have to work out this salvation, marriage with conviction from God. Bottom line You all are in love and married, which is right and pleasing to the Lord. Based on the scriptures your marriage is being honored by God....Annullment means to void...So if you went that way..Heck He knows he and the woman where still married by a priest of Judge or divorce the courts dissolves it... Don't sweat the small stuff...love your husband and enjoy him until death do you two part....This is my theory only.... Heb 13:4 Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge. |

139 | Is there a waiting place for the soul? | 2 Cor 5:8 | jbw | 83943
I am walking very light with this one. I know that their are a lot of doctrines out here and I wouldn't want to be offensive to anyone. But this is what the word of God says below. Regarding anyones departure into the next life.... Luke 16:19 "Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living in splendor every day. Luke 16:20 "And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores, Luke 16:21 and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were falling from the rich man's table; besides, even the dogs were coming and licking his sores. Luke 16:22 "Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom; and the rich man also died and was buried. Luke 16:23 "In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and *saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom. Luke 16:24 "And he cried out and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.' Luke 16:25 "But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony. Luke 16:26 'And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who wish to come over from here to you will not be able, and that none may cross over from there to us.' Luke 16:27 "And he said, 'Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father's house-- Luke 16:28 for I have five brothers--in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.' Luke 16:29 "But Abraham *said, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.' Luke 16:30 "But he said, 'No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!' Luke 16:31 "But he said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.'" |
