121 | How do we preach the Gospel? | 1 John 2:2 | GeorJoy | 100475
Well Ed, once again I will have to agree with everything you say. The martyrs literally gave their lives for our Lord and what they believed in. I am certain that you and I would do the same without hesitation, yet even though the martyrs paid the ultimate price, there were many who continued in their disbelief. Likewise it is today. So like the martyrs, all we can do is to give our all, according to the gifts we have received. In Christ George |

I agree wholeheartedly, with one exception. Not "being told by you." they should see you and the difference between you and others, which is your evidence. However I feel that we may be trying to take things in to our own hands. For I do not remember, other than the performance of miracles, Paul, the apostles, or for that matter Jesus himself ever doing anything more than "presenting" the good news. They didn't use psycology, they didn't try to tell or show what they had "recieved" as a "payment or result" of their believing. They simply delivered the word and the Spirit did the rest. Anything more on our part is a show of a lack of the faith that we are supposed to be modeling. Yet, what works for one may or may not work for another. Personally, I "often,(not always, depending on delivery)" consider it boasting when someone tells what the Lord has done for them. In Christ George |

123 | How do you put this into practice? | Ps 46:10 | GeorJoy | 100360
To be honest.... I have this same problem... I was only quoting what I have been told... It didn't do me much good either. Thank you for showing me that I am not the only "odd ball" where this matter is concerned.... Is this where the term "odd balls of a feather need to stick together" was coined? How did that saying go?!? Oooooh Lord, I'd bet that they were called worse than odd balls back in the Acts... Oooooh how I love that "eternal powersource within!" Ain't God Great!?! 124 | How do we preach the Gospel? | 1 John 2:2 | GeorJoy | 100354
I had this same experience you are having many years ago. My friend said that the Bible was written by man and therefore fallible. The Lord showed me 2Ti 3:16 All scripture is ---)given by inspiration of God,(--- and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: Although I don't like to put it this way, I feel that the Lord put the following into my heart to tell this person. If there is a God and the bible is His word and I live by what it says, I will spend eternity with my God and reap the rewards promised in His Word. If there isn't a God and I still live by what the bible says, have I not gained more than I have lost by loving others? In actuality, what have I lost? However, if there is a God and The Bible IS His word to man and You do not live by it, what have you lost.... Your eternal soul! The Bible also speaks of what the non believer will experience. (then I quote the passage about Lazarus and the rich man.) If you present it right, you may not know it but you will at the very least "plant the seed." Another friend that I was trying to witness to once told me "what is steak to some, is hamburger to others." He was referring to Jesus and His teachings, that although they were stake to me, they were mere hamburger to him. After I clarified that I had understood him to say what I thought I had understood, the Lord put the following words in my mouth. "If this is how you feel, then so be it. the next time you grill a stake or hamburger, you might want to take a look at those hot fire coals. The Lord stated that your final destination, should you not choose to accept Him, would make those coals look like a cool bed of roses. May God bless you in your witnessing. Ask Him. He will. Just don't get discouraged. And don't get impatient. Remember Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Even a failure now and then is included in the "all things." You may never see the fruits of your toil. But the Lord knows this persons heart and Ecc 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: In Christ George |

Don't be overly anxious, energetic or enthusiastic. ASV Mat 6:34 Be not therefore anxious for the morrow: for the morrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. ASV Mat 6:27 And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit unto the measure of his life? Luk 10:41 But the Lord answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art anxious and troubled about many things: Luk 12:26 If then ye are not able to do even that which is least, why are ye anxious concerning the rest? 126 | How do we preach the Gospel? | 1 John 2:2 | GeorJoy | 100324
You need not inquire as to their sins; Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Simply inform them that Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; --- but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. --- Yet Mat 18:14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. And that Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever --- believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.--- Joh 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. Don't make it complicated. It isn't. In fact, it is so simple that, in this complicated society, we fail to understand such simplicity... And whatever you do.... Don't forget to 2Ti 2:15 ---Study--- to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Next time, you will be answering the question, for Pro 8:32 Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways. And Luk 11:28 ..., blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it. In Christ George |

128 | Why is "5" referred to as grace. | Bible general Archive 2 | GeorJoy | 100223
At the risk of revealing my ignorance, I'd like to ask. If 7 means completion, then how could 8 mean a new beginning? It would seem that there would be no 8 if it is as you state. I'm sure that somewhere, somehow your question has a basis of validity. I'm really looking forward to finding out where and how. As to what the number 5 has to do with grace... Not that, I am really looking forward to finding out... I'll admit, I have yet to thoroughly "study" the entire Word, particularily the book of Revelations. I do remember various references to the number 2 as in "where two or mor are gathered in my name...," the number 3 as in the Trinity, the number"s" 6 as in the mark of the beast, and the number 7 as in the seven seals etc. This brings to mind another question. Yours is about 5; what about 4? Just pondering. I'm sure someone has a serious answer. I hope so anyway. I really want to see it. George |

130 | Open mouth, insert foot | Rom 12:6 | GeorJoy | 99844
I am only beginning in my formal studies. I have barely scratched the surface, yet this one discovery was a pleasing surprise and has truly been an eye opener, for I always considered it (exhortation,) more of a curse than a blessing. Yet, even as I have often stated in this forum, “the Lord gave me my big mouth, then He gave me His word.” There is no doubt that He will now use my big mouth to spread His word. I really don’t feel that it is my calling to be a pastor teacher. Perhaps a teacher, perhaps something else, who other than He knows, but in the end; whatever the Lord intends me to do, I want to be fully prepared to do it as none other could… Makarios, I have read many of your posts. You, among a select few in this forum have won my total respect and admiration. I sincerely appreciate your comments, and I thank God for those such as yourself and all who are Gods gifts to the body. God Bless George |

131 | Open mouth, insert foot | Rom 12:6 | GeorJoy | 99787
Through my biblical studies, I have recently found why I am as I am. In the KJV, Ro:7:6 through 8, Paul lists seven gifts, of which the 4th is “exhortation.” I George AKA GeorJoy, am one who exhorts. Per Merriam Webster; exhortation is defined as follows 1 : an act or instance of exhorting 2 : language intended to incite and encourage. transitive senses : to incite by argument or advice : urge strongly intransitive senses : to give warnings or advice : make urgent appeals –exhorter noun My years have taught me more than a little about human nature. What I have yet to understand where human nature is concerned, is why it is that many, and at times “most” choose to bring out the first of the transitive senses of my gift? At times I catch myself wanting to argue a point on which I have nothing other than hearsay on which to base my argument. 99.875 percent of the time, I can catch myself and shut my mouth before I put my foot in it. Why is it that there are many who would rather put both feet in their mouth and then continue arguing, rather than keep it shut in the first place? Or at the very least, shut up when the realization hits them that they are wrong. One can often see this realization in their expression, but they go on and on. One knows they are not as stupid as they portray… Or are they. Any biblically based thoughts and passages on this matter will be appreciated. George |

132 | Starve the flesh, feed the Spirit | Gal 2:20 | GeorJoy | 99620
Prazan I just had to print out your note as a constant reminder. In the Spirit, I know that no truer words could have been written other than those of the word itself, but my flesh is, Oh so weak! Although I have been a lifelong believer and am currently studying for a degree in theology, I have only within the past year, truly devoted myself to a sincere study of the Word, as I so dearly wish I had done so many years ago. I have such a hard time when it comes to developing, what I would consider to be a “good prayer life.” Oh I pray; I take my confessions, praises, concerns and desires to He who is faithful and just. Yet, only too often I feel that I am on the verge of being guilty of senseless babble. Although I avoid repetition, it seems that I am simply unable to put into words what is truly in my heart. By His word and faith, I know that my Lord knows my heart, yet I have such a sense of lacking. Your post conveyed more than simple words when I read it. Please take a moment to share your thoughts concerning my concern noted herein. In Christ we all lack something. Salvation is attained through mercy, yet once salvation is attained, there is so much more that is available. I am a simple vessel. I will not be satisfied here on this earth until my cup is filled to overflowing, so that I may serve Him to my fullest. Sincerely desirous, and in brotherly love George |

134 | Crucified Christians? | Gal 2:20 | GeorJoy | 99615
Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Christ died on the cross to pay the sin price for ALL who accept Him as Savior, Men, Women, Black, White, etc, etc, "ALL." Why would you think his atonement would exclude women? George |
