Here are some verses. God speaking audibly to Jesus: (once) Joh 12:28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. God speaking audibly to others: (twice) Mat 3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. (Luke 3:22) Mat 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. 123 | Where are the guards and the seal? | John 20:1 | terrib | 146583
Hope this helps: Mat 28:2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. Mat 28:3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: Mat 28:4 And for fear of him the keepers (soldiers) did shake, and became as dead men. Mat 28:11 Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch (soldiers) came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done. Mat 28:12 And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers, Mat 28:13 Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept. Mat 28:14 And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you. Mat 28:15 So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day. terrib |

124 | peters death | John 21:19 | terrib | 111920
Greetings w4mws, Peter: Among many other saints, the blessed apostle Peter was condemned to death, and crucified, as some do write, at Rome; albeit some others, and not without cause, do doubt thereof. Hegesippus saith that Nero sought matter against Peter to put him to death; which, when the people perceived, they entreated Peter with much ado that he would fly the city. Peter, through their importunity at length persuaded, prepared himself to avoid. But, coming to the gate, he saw the Lord Christ come to meet him, to whom he, worshipping, said, "Lord, whither dost Thou go?" To whom He answered and said, "I am come again to be crucified." By this, Peter, perceiving his suffering to be understood, returned into the city. Jerome saith that he was crucified, his head being down and his feet upward, himself so requiring, because he was (he said) unworthy to be crucified after the same form and manner as the Lord was. (Fox's Book of Martyrs) Joh 21:17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep. Joh 21:18 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not. Joh 21:19 This spake he, signifying BY WHAT DEATH HE SHOULD GLORIFY GOD. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me. (caps are for emphasis) signifying by what death he should glorify God; for by the above words Christ not only intimated that Peter should die, not a natural, but a violent death, or that he should die a martyr in his cause, but the very kind of death he should die, namely, by crucifixion; and that Peter was crucified at Rome, ecclesiastical history confirms (Eusebius Eccl. Hist. l. 2. c 25.) terrib |

126 | how far is a sabbath days journey | Acts 1:12 | terrib | 120080
Hello rbzkan, A sabbath-day’s journey : As far as might be lawfully traveled by a Jew on the Sabbath. This was 2,000 paces or cubits, or seven furlongs and a half - not quite one mile. The distance of a lawful journey on the Sabbath was not fixed by the laws of Moses, but the Jewish teachers had fixed it at 2,000 paces. This measure was determined on because it was a tradition that in the camp of the Israelites, when coming from Egypt, no part of the camp was more than 2000 paces from the tabernacle, and over this space, therefore, they were permitted to travel for worship. Perhaps, also, some countenance was given to this from the fact that this was the extent of the suburbs of the Levitical cities, (See Num_35:5). From Albert Barnes' Notes on the Bible. terrib |

127 | What is tongues of fire? | Acts 2:3 | terrib | 113784
Dearest TKB, Through this baptism of the Holy Ghost and fire, the apostles became more knowing, and had a greater understanding of the mysteries of the Gospel, and were more qualified to preach it to people of all nations and languages. The Holy Spirit, in his gifts and graces, is compared to fire, because of its purity, light, and heat, as well as consuming nature; the Spirit sanctifies, and makes men pure and holy, purges from the pits of sin, error and superstition; and enlightens the minds of men, and gives them knowledge of divine and spiritual things; and fills them with zeal and fervour for the glory of God and Christ, and the good of his church and interest, and for the doctrines and ordinances of the Gospel. (Act 1:8 KJV) But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (Act 4:33 KJV) And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. terrib |

129 | When were Apostles saved? | Acts 11:15 | terrib | 116621
Dear Arrow1, The Apostles were saved at a time and place just like anyone else are saved today, 'the moment they believed'. And only God in Heaven knows the exact time and place. (1Co 2:11 KJV) For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. As when Peter preached the prophesy of Joel in Acts 2:14-36, when the hearers accepted the words of Peter and accepted in their hearts the Lord Jesus Christ, they, about 3000, were saved. In the timing of God, when a man's heart has changed, then the promise of the Holy Spirit is given. But only God knows exactly when that change takes place. The Apostes were saved before the Spirit fell upon them. For even at Pentecost the Word says, they were assembled with one mind and purpose. They were believers and trusted the Lord, else the promise of the Holy Spirit would not have been given. Throughout the Scriptures, faith in God, believing, always comes before the promise: Noah, Moses, Entering into Jordan, David and Goliath, Daniel, Job and ALL the events of the people of faith in the Lord. And as things happen in the natural so do these things happen in the spiritual: (1Co 15:46 KJV) Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. Only God knows the exact time a newborn will breach the womb and as in the spiritual, only God knows when the instance of the rebirth takes place. (Joh 3:5 KJV) Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. (Joh 3:6 KJV) That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. You will notice that all the following verses contain the same phrase, "by faith": (Heb 11:4 KJV) By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. (Heb 11:5 KJV) By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. (Heb 11:7 KJV) By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. (Heb 11:8 KJV) By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. (Heb 11:9 KJV) By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: (Heb 11:17 KJV) By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, (Heb 11:20 KJV) By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come. (Heb 11:21 KJV) By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, leaning upon the top of his staff. (Heb 11:22 KJV) By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones. (Heb 11:23 KJV) By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king's commandment. (Heb 11:24 KJV) By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; (Heb 11:27 KJV) By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible. (Heb 11:29 KJV) By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned. (Heb 11:30 KJV) By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days. (Heb 11:31 KJV) By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace. Faith, Salvation, Promise terrib |

130 | Who were the thessalonians? | Acts 17:11 | terrib | 150927
Greetings Caurisa g, Well, I guess the first response you got to your question ready answered it, didn't it? Dah, I don't think so either. From John Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible: Thessalonica was a very large, populous, and flourishing city, it was "liberae conditionis", as Pliny says (a), a free city, and the metropolis of Macedonia; it was formerly called Halis (b), and had the name of Thessalonica given it by Philip king of Macedon, on account of his conquest of Thessalia, which this name signifies; and some say he gave this name to a daughter of his on that occasion, who was afterwards the wife of Cassander; who, others say, called this place by his wife's name (c), which before was Therme: its name with the Italians is Salonichi, and is now in the hands of the Turks, as all Greece is: here the Apostle Paul came after he had been at Philippi, and stayed about three weeks, and preached every sabbath day, and his ministry was blessed to the conversion of some Jews, a multitude of devout Greeks, and many of the chief women of the place, which laid the foundation of a Gospel church; to which the apostle wrote this epistle, and is the first of all the epistles he wrote: the occasion of it was this; the unbelieving Jews, vexed to see the apostle's success, raised a mob of the baser sort of people, and assaulted the house of Jason, where the apostle and his companions were; but Paul and Silas were sent away by night to Berea, which the rabble understanding, followed them thither; when Paul was sent as if he was going to the sea, but was conducted by the brethren to Athens, who gave orders that Silas and Timothy should come to him with all speed, as they did; and Timothy was sent back to Thessalonica to establish and comfort the young converts there; and returning with good news of their faith, and charity, to the apostle at Corinth, he sent them from thence this epistle, and not from Athens, as some have thought: the design of which is to encourage them under their afflictions and sufferings; to exhort them to stand fast in the Lord, to abide by his truths and ordinances, and to live an holy life and conversation, and to regard the several duties of religion, towards God and one another, and those that were set over them; and in it he instructs them concerning the resurrection of the dead, and the coming of Christ, articles of very great importance and concern: the writing of this epistle is placed by Dr. Lightfoot in the 51st year of Christ, and in the 11th of Claudius Caesar. Hope this helps a little better, terrib |

131 | what is the diffrence on act and chapter | Acts 19:1 | terrib | 149373
Part 2 Act 19:23 Now just about that time a great commotion broke out concerning the Way (the Gospel). Act 19:24 A silversmith named Demetrius provided a large income for the skilled workers by making silver shrines of Artemis.(goddess Diana) Act 19:25 He called a meeting of these men and others who were engaged in similar trades and said, "Men, you well know that we get a good income from this business. Act 19:26 You also see and hear that, not only in Ephesus, but almost all over Asia, this man Paul has won over and taken away a large crowd by telling them that gods made by human hands are not gods at all. Act 19:27 There is a danger not only that our business will lose its reputation but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis (Diana) will be brought into contempt and that she will be robbed of her majesty that brought all Asia and the world to worship her." Act 19:28 When they heard this, they became furious and began to shout, "Great is Artemis (Diana) of the Ephesians!" Act 19:29 The city was filled with confusion, and the people rushed into the theater together, dragging with them Gaius and Aristarchus, Paul's fellow travelers from Macedonia. Act 19:30 Paul wanted to go into the crowd, but the disciples wouldn't let him. Act 19:31 Even some officials of the province of Asia who were his friends sent him a message urging him not to risk his life in the theater. Act 19:32 Meanwhile, some were shouting one thing, some another. For the assembly was confused, and most of them didn't know why they were meeting. Act 19:33 Some of the crowd concluded it was because of Alexander, since the Jews had pushed him to the front. So Alexander motioned for silence and tried to make a defense before the people. Act 19:34 But when they found out that he was a Jew, they all started to shout in unison for about two hours, "Great is Artemis (Diana) of the Ephesians!" Act 19:35 When the city recorder had quieted the crowd, he said, "Men of Ephesus, who in the world doesn't know that this city of Ephesus is the keeper of the temple of the great Artemis (Diana) and of the statue that fell down from heaven? Act 19:36 Since these things cannot be denied, you must be quiet and not do anything reckless. Act 19:37 For you have brought these men here, although they neither rob temples nor blaspheme our goddess. Act 19:38 So if Demetrius and his workers have a charge against anyone, the courts are open and there are proconsuls (lawyers). They should accuse one another there. Act 19:39 But if you want anything else, it must be settled in the regular assembly. Act 19:40 For we are in danger of being charged with rioting today, and there is no good reason we can give to justify this commotion." (rioting was a capitol offense punished by death) Act 19:41 After saying this, he dismissed the assembly. Act 20:1 When the uproar was over, Paul sent for the disciples and encouraged them. Then he said goodbye to them and left to go to Macedonia. If this helps let us know, if it doesn't help, let us know that also. terrib |

132 | what is the diffrence on act and chapter | Acts 19:1 | terrib | 149374
Part 1 Greetings Ivette, Your question is a little hard to discern exactly what you are looking for, but if you are having difficulty in this chapter the translation below is from the International Standard Version. It may be easier to read than other translations. I have put some help words in (parenthesis). This is Paul's second visit to Ephesus, first visit was Acts 18:19. He returns to Antioch (18:22) visits Galatia and Phrygia (18:23) then the following visit to Ephesus and it continues through Acts 20:1. Act 19:1 It was while Apollos was in Corinth that Paul passed through the inland districts and came to Ephesus. He found a few disciples there Act 19:2 and asked them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" They answered him, "No, we haven't even heard that there is a Holy Spirit." Act 19:3 He then asked, "Then into what were you baptized?" They answered, "Into John's baptism." (John the Baptist) Act 19:4 Then Paul said, "John baptized with a baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, in Jesus." Act 19:5 On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Act 19:6 When Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began to speak in tongues and to prophesy. Act 19:7 There were about twelve men in all. Act 19:8 He went into the synagogue and spoke there boldly for three months, holding discussions and persuading them about the kingdom of God. Act 19:9 But when some people became stubborn, refused to believe, and slandered the Way (the Gospel) before the people, he left them, took his disciples away from them, and had daily discussions in the lecture hall of Tyrannus. Act 19:10 This went on for two years, so that all who lived in Asia, Jews and Greeks alike, heard the word of the Lord. Act 19:11 God continued to do extraordinary miracles by Paul's hands. Act 19:12 When the handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched his skin were taken to the sick, their diseases left them, and the evil spirits went out of them. Act 19:13 Then some Jews who went around trying to drive out demons attempted to use the name of the Lord Jesus on those who had evil spirits, saying, "I command you by that Jesus whom Paul preaches!" Act 19:14 Seven sons of a Jewish high priest named Sceva were doing this. Act 19:15 But the evil spirit said to them, "I know Jesus, and I am acquainted with Paul, but who are you?" (the spirit knew they were false teachers) Act 19:16 Then the man with the evil spirit jumped on them, got the better of them, and so violently overpowered all of them that they fled out of the house naked and bruised. Act 19:17 When this became known to everyone living in Ephesus, Jews and Greeks alike, fear came on all of them, and the name of the Lord Jesus began to be held in high honor. Act 19:18 Many who became believers kept coming and confessing and telling about their practices. Act 19:19 Moreover, many people who had practiced occult arts (witchcraft, divination, sorcery) gathered their books and burned them in front of everybody. They estimated the price of them and found they were worth 50,000 silver coins. Act 19:20 In that way the word of the Lord kept spreading and triumphing. Act 19:21 After these things had happened, Paul resolved in the Spirit to go through Macedonia and Achaia and then to go on to Jerusalem, saying, "After I have gone there, I must also see Rome." Act 19:22 So he sent two of his helpers, Timothy and Erastus, to Macedonia, while he himself stayed in Asia a while longer.(still in Ephesus) |

134 | Does a person who never hears about Jesu | Rom 2:14 | terrib | 151921
Greetings Otis and welcome to the forum, (Romans 2:14-16 KJV) For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel. The English Standard Version may state this clearer. (Romans 2:14-16 ESV) For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus. From the garden came the knowledge of good and evil, thus a law in itself. You could do what you knew to be good or not, but all things will be revealed in the last day, whether to justification or to destruction. (Luke 12:2 KJV) For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. terrib |

135 | So what is your answer, yes or no. | Rom 2:14 | terrib | 151926
Greetings Otis, Putting it in the small context of your question, "does that person go to hell for not accepting Jesus?" Jesus said, You must be born again. He was talking to those in range to hear Him. In your senario, they are out of range to hear Him, not even a Bible or book or radio or missionary. How can one accept Jesus if he does not hear or even know He exists? Is God unjust to punish for that? And though some may not hear, does not God's own creation loudly proclaim Him? So, it will be according to what is in their heart and what is put against their account and only God knows that. You can be sure of one thing, God is just and He will do right. And this is the call, find that lost sheep. terrib |

136 | I need help in regaining my faith in God | Rom 8:1 | terrib | 113779
Dear Uncle Dave, You said it correctly, "I have been self (SELF) detached". It is not that God has moved from you, but you have moved from God. You MUST set your priorities. It is a conscience decision. Either you want to serve God or you don't. Sorry to be so blunt but it is the truth. God does not move from us. We move from Him. You must decide whom you will serve. Just as in the beginning of your relationship with Him. He STILL sees you as His child. What has Satan been telling you? (rhetorical) What is holding you back: marital, finance, sex, work or other? (rhetorical) You are looking for something you can do, instead of what He has already done. Accept the Grace and say, "Father forgive me" and go forward. If there is sin in your life, confess it. (1Jo 2:1 KJV) "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:" Cry to Him, "Abba, Father, help me!" (Abba basically means "daddy") As a child goes to their earthly father so do we go to our Heavenly Father. He is faithful and just and will bring you back, IF YOU DESIRE IT. He does not look at us as we were but He looks at us through the blood of Christ. He sees us as a pure creation because the blood purifies His vision. (Rom 8:38 KJV) For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, (Rom 8:39 KJV) Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. 137 | filled Holy Spirit, or to walk in spirit | Rom 8:9 | terrib | 153433
Pastor Glenn, You wrote: "Is it more important to be filled with the Holy Spirit, or to walk in our spirit nature, or both?" You cannot seperate the two. That is like saying, 'Should I be filled with God or walk in the Spirit of Christ'?. You can not seperate the Trinity of God or any of Their workings. You can't drink water without the hydrogen. Verses on a "spirit nature". Roman 8:9 says it the best. (Romans 8:2 KJV) For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:9 KJV) But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. (10) And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. (11) But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. (12) Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. (13) For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. (14) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. (15) For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. (16) The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: (17) And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. (1 John 3:24 KJV) And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. (1 John 4:2 KJV) Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: terrib |

138 | absent from the body | Rom 8:23 | terrib | 147953
Hi Towanda, The first part of your question has to do with the soul. Absent from the body, there is a separation of the soul from the body when we die. The body goes in the ground and the soul goes to God. 2Co 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. The second part of your question has to do with the body. The dead in Christ (1 Th 4:16) is talking of the bodies of the believers that are in the ground that will be raised and glorified like Jesus' body was at his resurrection. 1 Th 4:13: But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. The word "asleep" is a common term used for the dead. Compare, 1Ki 2:10 So David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David. 1Co 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. terrib |

Hi Regguh, Rom 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Rom 8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. terrib |

Greetings Polarbear, Until you are married it is covetousness, lusting after something that does not belong to you. Rom 13:9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. It is to uphold our witness before God. People will judge you no matter what you do. Our judge is the Almighty Father, Creater of the Universe, and He will judge all in His day. terrib |
