1041 | When Jesus left us w/a comforter (Holy | Eph 6:11 | skccab | 189151
Well, of course, it's not something we can actually touch :-). But it's still very real, and essential to victorious living. For after having done all, to stand firm, unmoveable in faith believing. (And if I gave the impression that it is real metaphysically, I don't know how I did that, cos I don't think I know that word.) blessings cheri |

Hi Satinblu, Welcome to the forum. Eph 6:14-18 describes what the whole armor of God is; vs. 12-13 tell us why we need it - for spiritual warfare. If any part is left out that would leave us vulnerable to the evil that is in this world. blessings Cheri |

1044 | Comforting verse for non-believers | Psalm | skccab | 189126
Hi Azure, I, too, am sorry to hear about your friend. And with InGodITrust, I really don't know how to help you. I was thinking maybe something in Psalms or in Job might be suitable. Just as an example: Job 14:14 If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come. Job 14:15 Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: Something generic like that might could open up a chance to witness? Sorry couldn't help more Cheri |

1045 | Books for a high-tean girl to read | Deut 6:7 | skccab | 189088
hi 00123, Many of the larger Christian book stores have a fiction section including an area for teens. You might look into some of those titles. They range from mysteries to friendships to teenage romance situations. And of course, there's always non-fiction. I remember as a girl how awe struck I was reading about Corrie Ten Boom. And Joni. Hope this helps somewhat cheri |

1048 | Saved or not ? | Jer 17:9 | skccab | 189033
Hank, I know this has been gone over before, but not to the point of answering my question. You stated: "God has not made it His business to make any man privy to whether another man is saved or lost. It's the same with who's elect and who is not elect" You make it sound like one can be saved but not elect. How is this possible? What is the difference? I always thought that if you are saved then you are elect. Did I misunderstand you? blessings cheri |

1050 | Why do people like to accuse me? | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 188936
Hi Vincent, This is not so much bilbical as the others who have answered you, but people-based. Sadly, many Christians also fall into this category. People love to point out the faults of others, it makes them feel superior (they don't realize that they could not see the fault in you if it was not in them as well). Just know that what ever you are (or are not) is covered by the precious blood of our Lord Jesus. You were judged by the blood of Jesus the day you made Him your Lord and Savior - and the Good News is that you were found "not guilty!" The Father sees you in Jesus as whole and complete, a new creation. Keep on praying, keep on believing. blessings in Jesus cheri |

1051 | Asking many to pray for us? | Eph 6:18 | skccab | 188898
Justme, I could not possibly say anything better about prayer than Hank said so aptly. But there is one side of prayer that is little spoken of today, but I believe it still holds true today. And that is fasting and prayer, especially in combination with intercessory prayer. Jesus spoke of fasting and prayer: Mat 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. Mar 9:29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting. And Paul: 1Co 7:5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency. I just thought I'd share with you the benefits of fasting and prayer, for yourself and for those you are interceding for: Isa 58:6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Isa 58:7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? Isa 58:8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rearward. Isa 58:9a Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. blessings cheri |

1053 | Jesus and the "good" theif at the | John 19:30 | skccab | 188839
Hi Joe, Welcome to the Forum. As to your statement about being confused: Why would the thief need Jesus to tell him that He was talking to him that very day? But it would probably be very pleasant for the thief to know that "today" he would be with Jesus in Paradise. blessings cheri |

1054 | Why would he leave his servants? | 1 Thess 4:17 | skccab | 188787
Mroyal, Rev 14:1-5 - ...(4.) Their character and description. [1.] They are described by their chastity and purity: They are virgins. They had not defiled themselves either with corporal or spiritual adultery; they had kept themselves clean from the abominations of the antichristian generation. [2.] By their loyalty and stedfast adherence to Christ: They follow the Lamb withersoever he goes; they follow the conduct of his word, Spirit, and providence, leaving it to him to lead them into what duties and difficulties he pleases. [3.] By their former designation to this honour: These were redeemed from among men, being the first-fruits to God, and to the Lamb, Rev_14:4. Here is plain evidence of a special redemption: They were redeemed from among men. Some of the children of men are, by redeeming mercy, distinguished from others: They were the first-fruits to God, and to the Lamb, his choice ones, eminent in every grace, and the earnest of many more who should be followers of them, as they were of Christ. [4.] By their universal integrity and conscientiousness: There was no guile found in them, and they were without fault before the throne of God. They were without any prevailing guile, any allowed fault; their hearts were right with God, and, as for their human infirmities, they were freely pardoned in Christ. This is the happy remnant who attend upon the Lord Jesus as their head and Lord; he is glorified in them, and they are glorified in him. - Henry These "come out of" the tribulation and could be actual virgins or as Henry states. |

1059 | Why would he leave his servants? | 1 Thess 4:17 | skccab | 188753
MRoyal Does the Word state that they remain such in the millennium? I've heard of many debates over "once saved, always saved" but I don't believe I've ever heard of "once a virgin always a virgin." So where does the Word state that once their mission is complete that they are not released to live "normal" lives (as if anyone could live a normal life after going through what they will experience). cheri |
