102 | Jesus' body washed?? | Matt 27:59 | Timothy Paul | 72244
Hello rondc, First I must caution to not believe things on TV unless they are backed up biblically. These Characters will say whatever is in their imagination, and our enemy, (satan) will do anything to distort the truth. Personally I can find nothing that says the body of Jesus was washed before burial or even that it was wrapped with spices, but I do believe that they wrapped His body in linen, because the Bible tells me so. See Matthew Chapter 27:59 Mark Chapter 15:46 Luke 23:53 And also in Luke is some info pertaining to the day of preparation. 23:54 And the day was a preparation, and sabbath was approaching, The "day of preparation" is a Jewish idiom for the day before the Sabbath and does not refer to preparation of a body before placing it in a tomb; see Ex 16:22-26 I hope this helps, tim |

103 | Should women be allowed to preach? | Matt 28:8 | Timothy Paul | 50079
sufficient grace, whenever I am confronted w/the question of whether women should be allowed to preach, I refer to the 28th chapter of Matthew. Let's look at the first 8 verses: 1 Now late on the sabbath day, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled away the stone, and sat upon it. 3 His appearance was as lightning, and his raiment white as snow: 4 and for fear of him the watchers did quake, and became as dead men. 5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye; for I know that ye seek Jesus, who hath been crucified. 6 He is not here; for he is risen, even as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. 7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples, He is risen from the dead; and lo, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. 8 And they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring his disciples word. So you see, the first 'missionaries' to preach that Christ has risen from the dead were women. Since God is no respecter of persons, why would anyone object to a woman spreading the Good News, and who are we to judge a servant of God? |

104 | Hands: empty or full? | Luke 1:38 | Timothy Paul | 69043
mommapbs, What a wonderful inspiration you bring to us! The only possible comment I can think of, being otherwise tongue-tied over the inherent beauty of your post, is that my wish is to be able to come to my Lord with an open heart, because it is going before Him with a heart that is full that frightens me. The prince of this fallen world is greatly adept at filling our hearts and hands with enough distractions that we do not spend enough quality time in reverence with God. I want Jesus to come into my heart, although there is no scriptural evidence to support this widely accepted phrase. What do you think, please? In His grip, Tim |

105 | Hands: empty or full? | Luke 1:38 | Timothy Paul | 69060
Thank you, momma, your post blessed me this morning as I prepare to go out into the world with mixed emotions about my task. Jesus came to set the captives free is a very profound and liberating statement of His love for us and His omnipotence. Indeed, we are all held captive by our human desires. "For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would." Gal 5:17 "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." Thanks for starting my day on a good note, God Bless You. 109 | Men of this generation | Luke 7:31 | Timothy Paul | 60307
Hi, St. Julien, according to Matthew Henry, this was said to draw attention to the "strange perverseness" of the men of that generation. This was due to excessive fault-finding on the part of the men against John and Christ and the prejudices that they conceived against them. So Christ (It was the LORD who was quoted here, not Luke)was saying, in not so many words, what can I think of that is absurd enough to compare to these foolish men? Christ felt that way after the men took what God was doing for their benefit and made jokes about His methods. Peace and Grace, Tim |

110 | Sin is about a broken relationship.... | Luke 15:11 | Timothy Paul | 60538
Thank-you inheavenseyes for the fun and educational thread (o: I have learned of the great love and affection wherewith the Father in heaven uses in trying to restore our relationship w/Him after the fall. in the future I must try to be governed in my own actions by the wisdom that is from above, which is gentle and not overbearing. This has been a wonderful lesson on how the grace and mercy of God is offered towards poor sinners that repent and return to him, and his readiness to forgive them. Thank you again, and God Bless. |

112 | Gospels were a dream? | John | Timothy Paul | 64953

113 | I would like to reply to Timothy Paul. | John 1:1 | Timothy Paul | 53457
Dear HR212,The point is the Father and Son are the same and always were. In John's gospel, the apostle lays down this great truth that Jesus Christ is one with God the Father. Jn 1:14 concurs with the verse in 1Tim and teaches us, "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." And, Do the laws of Trinitarian doctrine make the Holy Spirit the Father? I would say Yes,we know that Joseph was not the father, and the Holy Spirit and the Father are one and the same. 1Cor.2:10,11 says,"but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God." And also read Matt. 28:19,"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, are you in agreement with this, HolyRoller212? |

114 | What is God's will for you? | John 1:1 | Timothy Paul | 53458
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" The Bible says that nothing escapes the eyes of God the Father: Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father's will. But the very hairs on your head is numbered, Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows (Matthew 10:29-31). God achieves His purpose in our lives in a variety of ways. Since nothing escapes His notice He uses all sorts of circumstances to get His will done in our lives. This includes unbelievers. And the Lord had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they granted them what they requested. Thus they plundered the Egyptians (Exodus 12:36). Bless God, and God Bless (o: Tim |

115 | I would like to reply to Timothy Paul. | John 1:1 | Timothy Paul | 53517
Bless You,MrsB. You've hit the nail on the head when you said our finite minds cannot comprehend. Our feeble minds are so made that there is a need to quantify everything in order to comprehend it. We measure distance in inches, and miles, and in order to measure space, we use light years. This is why we cannot understand God as omnipresent. He is immeasurable and hard to contain in our limited brain. A concept such as three seperate entities being the same one create a short circuit in our logic process. Human knowledge is faulty, therefore misleading, and potentially dangerous. This is why it is hard not to question the attributes of the Trinity and exactly why we should refrain from doing so. We have a tendency to take things out of context and distort the meaning behind the message. This is where we are to become "overcomers!" Let me take you to Rev 3:21 where we are told,"He that overcometh, I will give to him to sit down with me in my throne, as I also overcame, and sat down with my Father in his throne." What we can understand from this is that Christ was bothered by the faults of the flesh, yet He overcame them and became more than a conqueror. So if we conform to Christ in His struggles, then He will conform us to Him in His glory and we shall be with Him in His throne; His throne of judgment at the end of the world, His throne of glory to all eternity. Faithfully, Tim |

116 | What is God's will for you? | John 1:1 | Timothy Paul | 53645
BB,Thanks for your comment, as well as your question, giving me a chance to search the scriptures, which is often the reason I log on. Your question about baptism seems "loaded" to me, only because of so many debates I have witnessed in the past in my short life as a "born again." However I will do my best, and offer the answer that I feel fits the will of God. The view I've adopted is that no, baptism is not necessary for salvation, but it is required for obedience. "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (In context, Act 2:37-38) Now the word spoken through Peter does not tell us repent OR be baptized and he does not tell us repent and MAYBE get baptized. Also, an important verse is Luke 3:16, " John answered, saying unto all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire " So, in conclusion, I must say that only Jesus can baptize us with the Holy Spirit. For Jesus Christ said the final word concerning the salvation of mankind when He hung dying on the cross, and said,"It is finished." Then the curtain of the temple was rent, and the Holy Spirit was released, never to be held in a man-made structure again. He Now Dwells In Us! "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body." (1Cor 6:19,20) The baptism of the Holy Spirit is foretold in Eze. 36:25-27; " Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do [them]. Baptism of the Holy Spirit is through Christ, Titus 3:4-7, "But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by His grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Hoping to continue, I must cut this short. I hope this answers your question, Any more? Tim |

117 | I would like to reply to Timothy Paul. | John 1:1 | Timothy Paul | 53646
Another important note on Rev 4:2, is that the apostle saw "in his spirit" Read in context, 4:1 After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this." 4:2 At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. It would be wrong to analyze what the spirit is capable of by comparing it with what the flesh knows. Revelation is often described as symbolic, and the culture was very different, so we must keep that in mind as well. Thank you for your reply, I welcome all. Tim |

118 | What is God's will for you? | John 1:1 | Timothy Paul | 53986
Dear BB, Thank you for the enlightening passages, there is much there to learn. to pay back in kind, I will suggest you look at this... Romans 6:3 Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Following this, please let me add, 6:16 Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness? (NASB) Peace and blessings, Tim |

119 | What is God's will for you? | John 1:1 | Timothy Paul | 54132
Dear inmyheart, Thanks so much for your view (: The written word of God has had tremendous impact on my life. May I share with you a favorite verse from Psalms? Ps. 119:105 relates, Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. What this means to me is that not only is His Word a lamp shining far away to show my feet the bearing to follow, as would a lighthouse to a ship or an airport landing light for planes, but also, it is a light to light up the path my feet are on to prevent a trip or fall, such as a hiker on a dark trail in the woods might be blessed with a ray of sunshine to illuminate an exposed root, partly concealed, that most probably otherwise would have been apt to cause a stumble, if not a twisted ankle, if it were stepped on or tripped over. Again, thank you for your blessed insight, Peace. Tim |

120 | What is God's will for you? | John 1:1 | Timothy Paul | 54477
BB, your suggestions are well appreciated and taken to heart. There is so much there to study I will devote my freetime for days. Rom 12:2 says that God's will is good and acceptable but it does not define, only describe what His will for us is. Further searching led me to Micah 6:8, "He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" So, that is His requirement, but I believe that we have a purpose in life as well. Our purpose here on earth as I understand it, is to exalt the name of Jesus Christ so that through Him our Father God may be glorified. If we are successful in doing this, then we may be granted the privelege of knowing and understanding His will and given the gift of discernment. Or would this be salvation through works? (Eph 2:8,9) Which also brings me to Jer 9:22,23 Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise [man] glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty [man] glory in his might, let not the rich [man] glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I [am] the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these [things] I delight, saith the LORD. Peace and Blessings, Tim |
