101 | Who were the firstborn? | Bible general Archive 4 | humbledbyhisgrace | 196878
Hi Jim, To add to what brother Hank posted, Scripture also speaks of Israel as the firstborn (Exodus 4:22) and also of Christ as the firstborn (Hebrews 1:6, Hebrews 12:23, Romans 8:29, Colossians 1:15, Colossians 1:18, Revelation 1:5) Steve |

104 | what causes people to wonder from God? | Rom 6:16 | humbledbyhisgrace | 196855
Greetings cldibchosen! In a word, SIN! It is an interesting question to consider! I think to sum it up I would say it comes down to obedience! Romans 6:16 (NASB) Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness? 107 | Fellowship with God or man? | Acts 2:42 | humbledbyhisgrace | 196194
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS as you put it) is a non-Christian cult. Yes, you may find them to be nice people, but when they lead you from the truth of God and what His word says, how do they really stack up? Dear, if what you seek is fellowship with man then this is what you will find. Unfortunately, this is not what will bring you peace that only fellowship with God and His people can bring. I'll grant you that the state of the church in America at this time is disturbing. But if what you are seeking is to be served then you are going about it all wrong. It is you that should be seeking to serve the King and His people. Go in among them and point them back to God! For your edification, take a look at this web site for more info on the LDS cult http://www.carm.org/mormon.htm Steve 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 (NASB) 11:13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 11:14 No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 11:15 Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds. |

108 | Allowing demons to speak? | Mark | humbledbyhisgrace | 195924
I think its safe to say Jesus and the unclean spirit both knew who He was and of His authority (v24, v25, v26). I would think it's also safe to say His command to the unclean spirit (v25) and the obedience of the unclean spirit to his command (v26) demonstrated His authority to those who were there and to those of us who have witnessed it through God's word (v27-28). You say you feel like there is more there. Why would you think there is more there then what is written? Steve |

109 | Allowing demons to speak? | Mark | humbledbyhisgrace | 195877
Greetings michael03! The demon had already spoken of him (Mark 1:24). Also, note in verse 28 "Immediately the news about Him spread everywhere into all the surrounding district of Galilee." (NASB). So, it would seem to me that the people near by did see and hear what took place and the word spread "Immediately". Consider verses 15, 22, 27. Authority! Steve |

118 | God is the source | John 1:3 | humbledbyhisgrace | 195241
Greetings nightjay! Yes, all things come from God! (Romans 11:33-36, John 1:3, Colossians 1:16, Revelation 4:11) Mankind has a tendency to puff himself up and think highly of himself and his accomplishments. We tend to fall into the trap of believing in our own abilities when in fact even our ability to rise in the morning and work the fields so to speak is by the hand of God we do so! What has mankind produced and/or discovered that God has not provided? I know of nothing! God bless, Steve |

119 | "whoever" . Who are these other people?? | Gen 4:14 | humbledbyhisgrace | 194818
Greetings! Why do you assume there was only the three? Genesis 4:17 speaks of Cain having relations with his wife. So obviously there were others :-) Keep in mind the Scriptures are not always a detailed description of every person born, every minute of every day etc... After all, just look at verse 17. Cain had relations with his wife, she gave birth to Enoch, and Cain built a city all in one verse :-) God bless, Steve |

120 | Jehovah Witness questions | Col 2:9 | humbledbyhisgrace | 194816
To the first question I would start off with a big smile and point out how interesting it is the Pharisees and JW are so much a like in their religion. Both deny the Trinity, Both deny the physical resurrection of Christ, Both deny salvation by grace and both deny the Deity of Christ. Hummm.... To the second question I would say it is impossible for you to explain the trinity to him as he fails to even understand the scriptures that clearly teach Jesus is God (John 1:1, John 1:14, Romans 9:5, Colossians 2:9, Hebrews 1:8, 1 John 5:20) the Father is God (John 6:27, Romans 1:7, 1 Peter 1:2) and the Holy Spirit is God (Acts 5:3-4, 1 Corinthians 3:16, Romans 8:9) Do not allow his unbelief and deceitful ways trick you. He poses his question well to trap you. However, you know the truth and even if he cannot understand and/or see that yes, the Father can speak to the Son and the Son to the Father etc... And yes, there is only ONE God (Deuteronomy 6:4, 1 Corinthians 8:4, Galatians 3:20). This is what Scripture teaches us. This is the truth we stand on! The truth is not dependent on him understanding and/or accepting it. So when he has trouble believing that it is likely or not, it matters not! When dealing with the JW cult, be sure not to allow their questioning to pull you away from the truth. Do not look for ways to answer the questions outside of what Scripture actually teaches. This is how they play the game that they play. They twist scripture and their questions not to seek and/or find the truth, but to deceive and hide the truth. Steve |
