This is saying the older men and women are to be examples to the younger men and women. To teach the younger how to live by good works, to honor and respect, to understand that the husband is the head of the wife, and the husband answers to the Lord as He is the head of the husband.
3 | inlaws dont condone marriage, help?? | Matt 19:5 | romans11:19 | 168583
Pray to God for His Help. Mt 19:5-6 For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be united firmly to his wife and the two shall become one flesh, so they are no longer two but one flesh, what therefore God has joined together let not man put asunder. This is God's law but you also have to understand that when you marry you are also marrying the family. If they don't condone this marriage now you must realize that it probably won't get any better after the wedding. You must seriously consider if this is a match. A serious discussion is in order with your future spouse, as to where his/her loyalty stands, between you and the inlaws. If he/she doesn't answer it now he/she won't answer it after the wedding. You should already know how he/she stands. Either with you or with them. Marriage will not change him/her. Mark 3:25 If a house be divided againt itself, that house cannot stand. If you have any concerns or doubts about this wedding, now is the time to decide. Unhappy is a terrible way to live. Only you can decide what to do. No one else. Not even the future spouse.
4 | not turning your back on people | Phil 2:4 | romans11:19 | 168348
This scripture I learned one day after I had said no to someone. I keep this one in mind now and help when asked: Matthew 5:42 Give to him that asks you and from him that would borrow of you turn not you away. Also, Deuteronomy 15:7-8 If there be among you a poor man of one of your brethren inside any of your gates in your land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not harden your heart, nor shut your hand from your poor brother: But you shall open your hand wide to him and shall surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wants. Also, Matthew 25:40 And the King shall answer and say to them, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as you have done it to one of the least of these My brethren, you have done it to Me. Proverbs 19:17 He that has pity upon the poor lends to the Lord and that which he has given will He pay him again.
5 | Sins Forgiven | Col 2:13 | romans11:19 | 168586
Mark 3:28 Verily I say to you, All sins shall be forgiven to the sons of men. Acts 13:38-39 Be it known to you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins, and by Him all that believe are justified from ALL things. Colossians 1:14 In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, has He quickened together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses. Romans 6:22 But now being made free from sin and become servants to God, you have your fruit to holiness and the end everlasting life. We as believers have been given by grace the promise of everlasting life. We are also to confess our sins and ask for forgiveness. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. That is to say we will continue to sin as long as we are in this mortal body, but we must understand that when we sin we ask for forgiveness and by God's grace and the blood of Jesus Christ we are assured that we will be forgiven.
6 | Sins Forgiven | Col 2:13 | romans11:19 | 168618
Hello CDBJ, I believe by asking God for forgiveness I am acknowledging Him as the only way to receive it. Matthew 6:12 And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Is this not asking Him for forgiveness? I think that some who confess their sin are not sincere. When we offend someone don't we ask, if we are sincere, to forgive us? So why would we not ask God the same thing? There must be more to be learned by confessing our sin lest we repeat it again. We must completely understand it in order to overcome it. Why then if I have confessed a sin and been forgiven it would I later be convicted so deeply of the seriousness of that sin? I believe that God is teaching me something greater and He leads me into a deeper understanding. Matthew 6:15 But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. So how can we assume that by confessing our sin and if we have not forgiven someone that we can be forgiven? We can't, so I say confess and ask for forgiveness and if there is something I need to do then God shows me what I may refuse to see. God bless. |

7 | Sins Forgiven | Col 2:13 | romans11:19 | 168631
The bible does say if we don't forgive we will not be forgiven. The bible is an instruction book on how to live our life. Each of us as an individual learns different lessons. We are all rebellious in not listening to God's instructions and we are all to die because of it. God in His great love and mercy sent His Son so we would not die but through Him have eternal life. I never said we didn't need a saviour, my logic is to believe in God, to listen and do His commandments and to listen to the Holy Spirit to guide me into all truths. As far as sincerity goes God does examine our hearts for sincerity, many speak with their lips but their hearts are far from Him. Without God teaching us we wouldn't even know what a sin beyond the obvious is. If I continue to ask God for forgiveness and I have faith that I'm forgiven I continue to trust in Him. Are we to confess our sins only to repeat that sin because we have been forgiven? If we are sincere we ask God for forgiveness and stop doing the sin we are confessing. We are to examine ourself and work out our own salvation with trembling and fear and my way may not be your way.Luke 18:10-14
