1 | Is belief in the bible needed to be save | NT general Archive 1 | FreeInChrist | 160982
It seems to me that you either believe that the whole bible is inspired by God or none at all. All scripture is God breathed. You can't take pieces of the word and throw out others. If you do that you are only making the word be what you think it should be or say what it should say. Who are we to say that the new testament is not the Word of God. We are told not to add anything to the bible or take away anything from the bible, for let that man be accured if he preaches another gospel. How can the bible not be the word of God which, leads us to Christ, tells us who He is, how we should live, what is the meaning to life, how great a love the father showed us through His Son, grace, mercy, peace, fellowship, prayer, repentance, faith, wisdom, understanding, and His sovereignty. We are told that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. You can't believe one and throw out the other. If we tell people that the bible is not the word of God for salvation then how will people hear and be lead to Christ. What is the point of the word and the gospel but to point others to Christ. So, why would it be a stumbling block to others when it's main purpose is to lead others to Christ. If we did not have the word of God to look at and read how would we know how Christ lived, died for our sins, rose and was victorious over death, hell, and the grave. It is our instruction manuel for living a holy life through Him. I hope this helps!
2 | Receiving what you ask for | John 14:14 | FreeInChrist | 160127
The bible tells us that II Peter 1:3 we have everything we need for life and godliness. All the promises in Christ are yes and amen. Ephesians 1:3 We have every spiritual blessing that is in Christ Jesus. All our treasures are stored up for us in Christ Jesus. There are a couple of factors in answering that question. First, it tells us in James 1:5-7 that we are to ask of God. When we come to Him in prayer we are to do it in faith without doubting. For the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not expect that he will receive anything from the Lord. We need to first ask in faith. Oftentimes we have not because we ask with wrong motives. Are we asking for things that are according to God's will and according to His word or are we seeking for material gain. Do we really trust that God will really take care of our needs according to Matthew 6. Our thoughts are not always His thoughts and His ways are not always are ways. Do we really trust the first verses I gave you at the top. If we start looking at what we already have instead what we don't have, that will change our perspective on things. I hope this helps!
3 | Mathew 19:9 | 1 Cor 7:13 | FreeInChrist | 160122
In regards to your questions you ask how to solve the problem of adultery. I believe two wrongs don't make a right. You can't change the fact that you did get a divorce or sin you commited before you were saved. Once you have been saved all your sins have been forgiven and wiped clean by the blood of the Lamb. You would be unjust now to divorce again. But, since you remarried and made a vow before God and men to death due us part, then you are called to stay married. Now that you are saved that still doesn't mean there won't be consquences of your sin. You can realize what you did the first time and ask forgiveness and decide to move forward in faith with your new marriage in a God honoring way. If you look on in I Corinthians 7:24,28a Brethern, let each man remain with God in that condition in which he was called. Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek to be released. Once we come to Christ we are called to walk obediently. I hope this helps some.
4 | Release my husband to God | 1 Cor 7:13 | FreeInChrist | 160124
Whether our spouse is a christian or a nonchristian our focus most importantly is suppose to be unto the Lord. We live for the Lord and to do His will. Exodus 20 talks about We are to have no other gods or idols before Him. Although we are called to love our husbands, sometimes we allow our husband to be more important than Christ. We are suppose to love the Lord first, with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Matthew 10:37-38 He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. He who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. I hope this helps!
5 | praising pastors | 1 Thessalonians | FreeInChrist | 160346
1 Thessalonians 5:1 But we request of you brethern, that you appreciate those who diligently labor among you, and have charge over you in the Lord and give you instruction. 1 Timothy 5:17 Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching. |
