Thank you Azure for posting such a beautiful hymn! These words are so precious and dear to my heart. I could not hold back the tears as I sang it out loud this morning. I was just a young girl when I first learnt it in my daddy's church and I feel so blessed each time I sing it. Thanks again! Ptr |

Hi PDAL, I agree that satan was defeated at the cross but what I don't agree with, is that the only power he holds is in deception. Satan has great power and dignity. His original status and authority was not taken away after his fall. So great is he,that Michael the Archangel saw him as a foe too powerful to oppose (Jude 9). His influence in worldly affairs is clearly seen. Some of his titles reflect his control of world system. He is called " the ruler of this world" (Jn 12:31), " ...the god of this age has blinded.." (2 Cor 4:4), and "the prince of the air" ( Ehp 2:2). The scripture declares that " The whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one (1 Jn 5:19). Man was created with a moral light. The light that satan has, is greater than man's light. Through it he deceived Eve and Adam and took over their rule of the world for himself (Gen 1:26;3:1-7;3:13; 2Cor 11:3). Satan is not only a deceiver, but also a robber. He robbed man of the true Light and eternal life. In order to regain the true Light, we have to let this Light or knowledge (Jesus) shine in our hearts (2 Cor 4:4,6; Jn 1:9; Jn 3:19-21), and to reclaim eternal life, we must beleive in Jesus (Jn 3:16; 11:25;14:6). Because of the sinless life of Jesus, He was able to triumph over the enemy ( Matt 4:1-11; Luke 4:1-14). The death of Jesus on the cross is the basis for satan's final defeat (Heb 2:14-15; 1 Pet.3:18). The final victory will come when the Prince of peace returns and satan is cast into the lake of fire (Rev 20:1-3). For christians, our personal victory depends on our will to resist the devil (Eph 4:25-27; 1 Pet 5:8-9). Yes we are more than conquerors through Christ (Romans 8:37). God bless you. Ptr |

Hi PDAL, If Lucifer was a corporal being created with the appearance of man, then recognizing him would be a whole lot easier. But this is not the case. From the garden of Eden, mankind has been engaged with the enemy, also called satan and the devil. We should not take him for granted or underestimate his power. Bible history reveal that apart from the Lord Jesus, no other human being has sucessfully withstood his onslaught-that is by mere human strength. Whether it was the unique perfection of Eve, the patience of Job or the wisdom of Solomon, human strength has never been a match for this remarkable enemy of God's work. For us to comprehend the subtlety of his workings, must be divinely inspired. Through the life and sacrificial death of Jesus our Lord, we can become more than conquerors (1 Jn 3:8). Peter also wrote, "Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Peter 5:8). Because of his pervented ambition, he gave up the ordained will of God for his life and sought that which was beyond his calling and office. His desire was to become like God which led to his downfall (Matt 5:11;Isa 14:14). Unlike Jesus, his motive was not a sincere longing for more of the righteous attributes of a loving heavenly Father, but rather a lust to obtain the power, authority and glory of the Almighty God. It was this perverted ambition that he imparted to Eve that resulted in her sin. She blatantly disobeyed the commandment of God in her lust for greater glory. It is this misguided ambition that has destroyed many sincere children of God. Like Lucifer who kept not his first estate but left his own habitation, they too have lost out on what was God's will for them. Some are held in spiritual chains of darkness (Jude 6). The scripture cautions every man "Not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, according as God has dealt to every man the measure of faith (Romans 12:3). Hi John, Don't be sorry! believe me, I understood why you would ask the question. Remember we're all in the body of Christ, and the only way we can have a deeper re- lationship with Him, is to keep on studying His word. God bless you. Ptr. |

6 | should we pray to god in the name of jes | John 16:26 | ptr | 215743
Hi John, With the help of the Holy Spirit, I'll do my best to show from the scriptures, that the bible identifies three distinct persons within the the Godhead. Matt 28: 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. (three distinct persons). In Luke3:21-22, Shows that the Father and the Holy Spirit were present at the baptism of Jesus. "Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus (the Son,the second person in the Godhead) also was baptized, and while He prayed, the heaven was opened- And the Holy Spirit (the third person) descended like a dove upon Him. And a voice (the Father)came from heaven and said 'this is my beloved Son in whom I'm well pleased. The title 'Lord' is given to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Matt 11: 25 Here Jesus prays to the Father and addresses Him as 'Lord'. Rom 15:6 Paul calls Jesus 'lord' The Father is God. 1 Cor 8:6 Yet for us, there is one God, the Father.... The Son (Jesus) is God. Hebrews 1: 8-9 But to the Son He (the Father) says ' Your throne O God, is forever and ever'. The Holy Spirit also shares the title 'Lord' read 2 Cor 3:17; as well as the title 'God' read Acts 5: 3-4 The bible says that there is one God. 'One in three and not three in one'. John 17: 21 Jesus says 'you, Father are in me, and I in you'. While the Father was in heaven,He was fully dwelling in Jesus at the same time. Just as the Father dwells in Jesus, He (Jesus) also dwells in the Father. (John 17:21) The Holy Spirit also dwells in Jesus. (Isa 42:1) Colossians 2:9 " For in Him (Jesus), dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily". Jesus said " I and my Father are one. (John10:30) read also John 10:30; John 14:9 To your second question and I'll give a short answer,no! I'm not affiliated with J.W. I hope these scriptures will help you to better understand the relationship that the Father shares with His Son and His Holy Spirit. God bless you |

Hi Makarios, Thank you for the scripture verses on the Trinity. I believe God the Father, His Son, and His Holy Spirit as three Divine Agents involved in creation and the salvation of man (Gen1:1; Col 1:15; Heb 1:1-10; 11 Cor 5:18-19; Matt 3:13-17;28:19; Eph 4:4-6). The most distinctive characteristic of the Persons of the Godhead ( Rom 1:20; Col 2:9), is their self-less love for one another. Each esteems and defers to the other in a way that makes the Family of the trinity a model for the christian family of believers. The Father gives all authority to the Son and bears witness to Him,as does Jesus to Himself ( John 8:18). Yet the Son claims nothing for Himself, instead He gives all the glory to the Father who sent Him ( John 12:49-50). The Father serves the Son,the Son serves the Father, both defer to the Holy Spirit, who in turn serves and defers to the Father and the Son in oneness. This mutual love in the Family of the Godhead can be seen in creation, in their generous cooperation in saving lost souls ( John 14:15-17; 25-26). God bless you Ptr |

Thanks for your respones. I agree that praise and petitions to the Son and the Holy Spirit is appropriate. But lets not forget the true nature of Jesus whom we pray to. John1;1-The Word(Jesus)was God in the sense that the the Father shared the fullness of His own nature with Him. God alone is worthy of our highest honor and would not allow anyone other than Himself to be worshiped. For Him to let people worship one less- er than Himself, would be to violate His own com- mandment.Exod20:3,you shall have no other gods before me, Exod20:5,you shall not bow down before them nor serve them,Matt4:10,Jesus said, you must worship the lord thy God and Him alone you shall serve. Yet God highly exalted Jesus and gave Him a name which is above every other name(Heb1:4), that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow etc.(Phil2:9-11). Jesus makes it clear, that you cannot honor the Father unless you honor the Son(John5:23). He could receive honor and glory because it was first given to Him by the father. John8:54,Jesus answered,if I honor myself, my honor is nothing. It is my Father who honors me, of whom you say that He is your God. God bless you. |

9 | should we pray to god in the name of jes | John 16:26 | ptr | 215628
ANSWER: WE SHOULD PRAY IN THE NAME OF JESUS BECAUSE IT IS A NAME THAT IS SHARED BY THE FATHER AND THE HOLY SPIRIT AS WELL. JOHN5:43 JESUS SAID,"I HAVE COME IN MY FATHER'S NAME AND YOU DO NOT RECEIVE ME; IF ANOTHER COMES IN HIS OWN NAME,HIM YOU WILL RECEIVE. MATTHEW28:19 ...BAPTISING THEM IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, THE SON AND THE HOLY SPIRIT. NOTE THAT THIS PASSAGE DISTIINCTLY MENTIONS THREE BEINGS,(THE FATHER, THE SON AND THE HOLY SPIRIT),YET IT DID NOT SAY BAPTISING IN THE NAMES BUT NAME(SINGULAR). JOHN14:26 JESUS SAID,"BUT THE HELPER,THE HOLY SPIRIT, WHOM THE FATHER WILL SEND IN MY NAME WILL TEACH YOU ALL THINGS,ETC. COLOSSIANS3:17 WHATEVER YOU DO IN WORD OR DEED, DO ALL IN THE NAME OF JESUS. MATTHEW18:20 WHERE TWO OR THREE ARE GATHERED IN MY NAME THERE I AM IN THE MIDST. PHILIPPIANS2:9-10 THEREFORE GOD ALSO HAS HIGHLY EXALTED HIM(JESUS)AND GIVEN HIM THE NAME WHICH IS ABOVE EVERY NAME. THAT AT THE NAME OF JESUS EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW, OF THOSE IN HEAVEN,AND THOSE ON EARTH,AND OF THOSE UNDER THE EARTH. I DO HOPE THESE VERSES WILL BE OF HELP TO YOU. PTR. |
