Subject: should we pray to god in the name of jes |
Bible Note: Thanks for your respones. I agree that praise and petitions to the Son and the Holy Spirit is appropriate. But lets not forget the true nature of Jesus whom we pray to. John1;1-The Word(Jesus)was God in the sense that the the Father shared the fullness of His own nature with Him. God alone is worthy of our highest honor and would not allow anyone other than Himself to be worshiped. For Him to let people worship one less- er than Himself, would be to violate His own com- mandment.Exod20:3,you shall have no other gods before me, Exod20:5,you shall not bow down before them nor serve them,Matt4:10,Jesus said, you must worship the lord thy God and Him alone you shall serve. Yet God highly exalted Jesus and gave Him a name which is above every other name(Heb1:4), that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow etc.(Phil2:9-11). Jesus makes it clear, that you cannot honor the Father unless you honor the Son(John5:23). He could receive honor and glory because it was first given to Him by the father. John8:54,Jesus answered,if I honor myself, my honor is nothing. It is my Father who honors me, of whom you say that He is your God. God bless you. |
