1 | Do I have to be Baptized to be saved? | Rom 10:9 | Derdan | 77501
The thief on the cross was forgiven personally by Jesus. Jesus had not then died and rose again,so the New Covenant had not yet arrived. It was some forty days later that Jesus gave the great commission to go and preach the gospel which included the command to be baptised, see Mk 16:15-16; Matt 28:18-19. See LovestheLord message below. |

2 | To be saved must we be baptised? | Acts 2:38 | Derdan | 77327
Thank you sniper, your answer is spot on. It would be good if all believers studied the examples given in Acts, They would find that in everyone one baptism is mentioned either directly or indirectly, taught and carried out. It puzzles me why there is so much rejection of baptism, which is a simple act of obedience. Repentance is the really hard part by comparison. Thanks again. I note that you made mention of the 'sinners prayer' which is a man made doctrine. This is a modern apostacy and false teaching that prevents men from being saved It became formalized as a theology in the mid 1950's and used in interdenominational crusades. |

3 | The Soul after Death | 2 Cor 5:6 | Derdan | 62743
Whatever event is being described it is NOT the setting up of His Kingdom, that took place in Jerusalem in 33AD (Acts 2) In Acts 1:1-8 Jesus is speaking to His apostles of "things concerning the kingdom of God" v3. Following on from their questions to Him, Jesus told them they would receive power ("not many days from now") v5 then they would be His witnesses "...even to the remotest part of the earth" v8. Mark 9:1 "they would see the kingdom of God after it had come with power". In Acts 2:29-30 Peter reminds his hearers of God's promise to David "to seat one of his descendants on his throne" looked ahead to Jesus who "God has made both Lord (king) and Christ (messiah). Acts 8:12 "preached the good news about the kingdom of God". Col 1:13 "For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and TRANSFERRED us to the kingdom of His beloved Son". The apostle writing to the Corinthians said the "Christ at His coming, then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when he has abolished all rule and all authority and power". 1 Cor 15:23-26. When He comes it is not to set up the kingdom of God, but to hand over the kingdom to God. Christ had the kingdom of God, had completed His reign, and now hands it back to the Father. "For He must REIGN UNTIL he has put all His enemies under His feet. The last enemy that will be abolished in death" v25-26. Rev 1:6 "He HAS (not will in the future)made us to be a kingdom ..." John was a partaker in he tribulation AND kingdom, 1:9. All references to the kingdom of God before Acts 2 look forward to the kingdom coming, and back to the kingdom as a reality after Acts 2. |

4 | Greek translation of Acts 16:34c | Acts 16:34 | Derdan | 62699
I think the NASB makes the meaning clear, both the Jailor and his household rejoiced, "he and all his household. Note v31 "you will be saved, you and your household". V32, "And they spoke the word of the Lord to him TOGETHER with all who were IN his house". V33, "and immediately he was baptised, he and ALL his household" |

5 | The Soul after Death | 2 Cor 5:6 | Derdan | 62698
The 'rapture' is NOT scriptural, it is a doctrine of men. 1Thess 4:16 is addressed to 'Christians' who are concerned regarding those who had "fallen asleep in Jesus", v13-14. The living Christians will not precede the dead Christians, because they will be raised first, when the Lord descends from Heaven, v15-16. In verse 17 both the living and raised Christians will "meet the Lord in the air", not on earth. And will be with Him forever. There will only be ONE resurrection of the dead, John 5:28-29. ALL who are in the tombs will hear His voice, and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgement". ONE resurrection of ALL the dead, not two resurrections. |

6 | Aaron's father's name? | Ex 2:1 | Derdan | 62691
Jesus was a descendant of Judah, Matt 1:2; Luke 3:33-34; Heb 7:14. Jesus was of the same tribe as David, Rom 1:3-4. Judah was the 'royal' tribe, Levi was the 'priestly' tribe. |

7 | IS THIS WHAT JESUS BUILT? | Matt 16:18 | Derdan | 61282
If Alexander Campbell "formed the Church the Christ" then it was not the church that Jesus built, but the church that he built. The church that Jesus built was His church, built on Him, 1 Cor 3:11, He purchased the church with His own blood, Acts 20:28, it wears His name, Rom 16:16 No man, organisation or nation can claim to be the church that Jesus built. Rome, Wesley, Luther, Campbell, Baptist, etc cannot claim to be The church that He built. |

8 | NT Church | Matt 16:18 | Derdan | 61277
The N.T didn't exist when Jesus made His statement in Matt 16:18. Jesus said "I WILL build My church" - pointing to a future date. We know that His church was in existence in the book of Acts, see 2:47, 5:11,14. So when did it begin if it wasn't in Acts 2? |
