1 | Woman's place in Heaven | Bible general | wdc | 241585
I note here that there are 3 heavens. 2 Corinthians 12:2 NAS I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago -whether in the body I do not know, or out of the body I do not know, God knows -such a man was caught up to the third heaven. |

4 | What is the Holy Spirit? | Bible general Archive 1 | wdc | 4051
Elijah, where are you getting this stuff? This is the most horrible abuse of the Holy Scripture's I may have ever heard. Please take time to pray and meditate on the Word before you answer. The Bible is very clear on Who the Holy Spirit is, John 14:17-18. (17) Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. (18) I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. The Holy Spirit is the third member of the Trinity, in other words, He is God. The angels are created beings. (Heb 1:5) For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? There is no way from the Bible that angels can be made to be equal with God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit. later...wdc |

I'm not trying to incite arguement or anything. My daughter wanted a tatoo, and we discussed this verse and passage at great length. Also I prefer my longer than most chuch people are comfortable with, and they often quote 1 Cor. 11:14 to me, and I point out 1 Cor. 11:16 to them. My point is that people should be very careful taking a verse to defend something like or dislike without studying the context carefully. P.S. I don't have a beard, but it is not for lack of trying, I really want one, but don't have enough whiskers. later...wdc |

7 | Is anything above God's name? | OT general | wdc | 4746
Thanks JVH, I like things simple also. To me, most things are black and white anyway and there is very little middle ground. Guess that's why I stay in trouble much of the time. later...wdc |

8 | Renewal AGAIN to repentance? | NT general Archive 1 | wdc | 25180
I'm kinda jumping in in the middle here, but I wanted to say something about crossing the line. I have heard this all my life, people saying what sin or how many sins will cause me to lose my salvation. To me the answer is obvious. If you can lose your salvation, it can not be lost by a sin or any number of sins. Your were not saved by stopping sin in your life or by not committing a certian sin, YOU WERE SAVED BY FAITH in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. If you can lose your salvation, the only way it could be lost would be to lose your faith, or stop believing that the death and resurrection of Christ is sufficent. I hope this makes sense, it does to me. Eph. 2:8 "For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God." We are not saved by works, we are not saved by stopping sin, we are saved because we took at His word that He would accept us because of what Jesus did on the cross. later...wdc |

9 | why did God create the world | Gen 1:1 | wdc | 1590
Dear bcbloyd, I want to thank you for your response to my question. I don't know if I have ever heard anything quite like that. Obviously, you have thought about this and have sought God's heart. Again, I thank you, you have helped me greatly. I was not doubting or questioning God, I just think about things a lot, and always ask questions. I have printed your reply and will keep it in my Bible. God bless. wdc |

10 | 2 Timothy 2:23 | Gen 1:1 | wdc | 3801
Hello to everyone responding to this posting. I have gotten a lot of answers, most of them dealing with how or why there is suffering. That is not my question. I pretty much understand why there is suffering in the world and how to deal with it. My question is why did God create the world in the first place. If the standard answer (the one I get from books and those that I have asked) is right, because God wanted a people to worship Him from a willing heart, would that mean God had needs, and therefore not perfect? I mean the angels worship Him willing, some choose not to and followed Lucifer in the fall. If He created the world to show His mercy and grace, wouldn't that show a need in Him again, making Him less than perfect? These are just examples, and there may not be an answer to my question this side of heaven. It is something I thought about for a while and thought maybe someone else had to and could help me. Whatever the answer, it does not change the fact that God loves us and gave His Son so we can live in Him. And it does not change the fact that in Him, we can overcome the works of Satan in our lives. Thank you all for you answers and thoughts. later...wdc |

12 | 2 Timothy 2:23 | Gen 1:1 | wdc | 3979
Hello WtNs, Mostly the cosmos, as in why start all this in the first place. I understand the benefit of suffering, how God uses it in our lives, for example pruning (Jn. 15:1-5). If God created the world to put man here because He wanted fellowship or someone to love Him willingly, doen't this show weakness on His part and not perfection. I've always been taught that God is self-sufficent. I am not doubting God, just curious. Thanks for your reply. later...wdc |

14 | why did God create the world | Gen 1:1 | wdc | 241592
We can help others after we have been through trails ourselves. 2 Cor. 1:3-5 3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ. |

16 | When ever you want to | Ex 21:10 | wdc | 103565
You make a good point. I agree that it was because of the hardness of the heart that these things were done, as is the case with most, if not all sin. I still have a problem with the frequency that we see acts of sex outside of marriage in the O.T. We never read in the N.T. that Paul was going down the road to Colosse or some place and stopped off by the way because he saw some woman on the side of the road. I think maybe the difference could be the presence of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the N.T. wdc |

17 | Why one word for wind and spirit? | Ps 51:10 | wdc | 2025
Thanks for this study, I will go back and look into some more. I also am curious about John 6:63. (John 6:63) It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. I notice how Jesus likens His words to Spirit. I have heard some say that the Word and the Holy Spirit are the same, at least in operation. I don't know about that. I know that the Spirit uses the Word, Eph 6:17 "the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God". Also Jesus is the Word, John 1:1. Does anyone have any thoughts on John 6:63? later...wdc |

18 | when is prophecy near or far? | Isaiah | wdc | 2747
The passage in Ezekiel 12:21-28 is concerning them at that specfic time. Some of the people were already in captivity in Babylonia and those that were still Jerusalem were only there because the king of Babylonia, Nebuchadnezzar, let them stay. 2 Kings 25 bears all this out. The prophecy was that the entire city would be destroyed and the rest of the people would be go into captivity also. But those left in Jerusalem said it would not happen becuase it it had taken so long. So God said since they doubted His word, He would bring that specfic prophecy to pass right then. And so He did. Many prophicies are given that have no date or time limit set on them, such as about the end days. Some of Daniels, Ezekiel, and the book of Revelation have not been fulfilled yet and we don't know when they will be. But God knows and has set the time for them to come to pass. It is for us to believe His Word, watch and be ready. The 2 Kings 10:30 prophecy was fulfilled in the kings that followed Jehu. They are found in 2 Kings 10:35; 13:1,10; 14:23; 15:8,12. It gets confusing when you try to sort all of the kings out, they did not follow strict geneology rules, but they are all there, some of the kings of Isreal and Judah had the same names and so forth. Hope this helps. later...wdc |
