2 | Christ's Passion - how severe? | Is 52:14 | punkiedo | 114604
I honestly don't think that the crucifixion was something pretty. I think this movie portrays it well, but I think it was probably a lot worse than what is shown in the movie. Refer to Mark 14:65, Luke 22:63-64, In the NIV of Isaiah 53 it says he was "CRUSHED" for our iniquities. I believe in my heart that he was litterally beaten to a bloody pulp. Plus they plucked his beard. I know how bad it hurts to pluck my eyebrows, so it was aweful. But that is just my oppinion. Isaiah 53 4 Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. 6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. 8 By oppression [1] and judgment he was taken away. And who can speak of his descendants? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was stricken. 9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth. 10 Yet it was the LORD's will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand. |

3 | Was cornelius saved by spirit | Acts 11:15 | punkiedo | 113481
I don't really understand why you say he wasn't talking about the pentecost experience when he said like it fell on us in the beginning. Because when Cornelius got the Holy Ghost it says they knew because THEY HEARD HIM SPEAK WITH TONGUES what happened in Acts 2? They were filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak in tongues as the spirit gave them utterance. In other words my answer is this. No one is saved until God comes back. Sorry, no matter what you believe the bible says Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. So the Holy Ghost wasn't a "free ticket to heaven" but each time the gospel was preached during the birth of the church in Acts they recieved the Holy Ghost. So YES it is a factor in salvation. It is not THE ONLY thing that saves us. You have to repent and be baptized too each account they were baptized also. The reason I have such a problem believing that the Holy Ghost is not essential to salvation is because of the encounter with Simon the Sorceror. In Acts 8:12 it says but when they believed Phillip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. And in the next verse it says "Simon believed also." But it does not say that Simon got the Holy Ghost. It does say that he believed, but notice he still wasn't saved even though he believed. And it goes down and Phillip sent for Peter and John. Peter was given the keys to the kingdom in Matthew 16 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. And it specifically says they sent for him so they would reveive the Holy Ghost and in verse 16 it says "For as yet he was fallen upon none of them only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus" So even though they believed. THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE HOLY GHOST. Hope this helps all the references are Acts 2, 8, 10, 19 Those are the recordings of the Holy Ghost falling. Which by the way it does not record that the Etheopian Eunich got the Holy Ghost Phillip didn't have the keys. Peter was the one who opened the door. That's why they sent for Peter. But once the doors were open they all had the power to pray over people and they receive the Holy Ghost. (Just a Thought) Punkiedo |

5 | Is healing a guarantee?? | Is 53:5 | punkiedo | 113393
Psalm 103 (KJV) 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; *Does he forgive ALL your iniquities? If your answer is yes then he heals ALL of your diseases. Mark 16:18 (KJV) They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. It says they SHALL recover. Not they MIGHT. James 5 (KJV) 14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Once again it says they SHALL be raised up. Not they MIGHT. But in this verse it is a question of FAITH. Jesus said Luke 18:8 b (KJV) Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? It is a question of faith. You can say I believe, but do you have the faith? |

6 | Another Counselor? | Is 9:6 | punkiedo | 113173
You know Tim to be honest with you when you said that I was like, woah wait a minute I have read that before. I was going to call in reinforcements (ask my pastor, who is also my dad) but then I was quickened in the spirit to read this scripture. So I will answer you with this. And just so you know I prefer KJV, not saying one is better than the other, it is just my personal preference. John 14 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. 15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. 20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. 21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. Ok in the same breath that Jesus said that he says in verse 18 I WILL NOT LEAVE YOU COMFORTLESS I WILL COME TO YOU. So Jesus is going to come as the comforter? But he just said he was going to send another? In the same breath my dear friend he says, "At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you." So the comforter will be in you and Jesus says he will be in you. Interesting, just proves that they are 1. There is no triunity. And interestingly enough it says in verse 17 that "but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you." How could that be? He is sending someone else right? But he dwells with them abd SHALL BE IN THEM???? Because Jesus is the Holy Ghost. |

7 | Is "Jesus Only" belief true or false? | 2 Cor 13:14 | punkiedo | 113071
First of all Kalos, There is a group called Jesus Only and they believe that you cannot say Jesus Christ or Jesus of Nazereth or anything attached to the name of Jesus and I am not a part of that group I AM UPC. wanna bash what we believe at least get it right www.upci.org okay? Secondly, YOU are doing nothing more than trying to cause problems. I feel it from you Kalos. I recognize the spirit you are transmitting in your words. You are trying to stir up problems and get people to HATE the Truth. Don't worry though, I am praying for you. I hope you wake up and realize the "Name Calling" that YOU are doing. If you notice I am very careful about what I say in regards to you and your beliefs, and all who are on here. 1 Samuel 26:9 And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the LORD's anointed, and be guiltless? 1 Samuel 24:10 Behold, this day thine eyes have seen how that the LORD had delivered thee to day into mine hand in the cave: and some bade me kill thee: but mine eye spared thee; and I said, I will not put forth mine hand against my lord; for he is the LORD's anointed. 1 Samuel 26:11 The LORD forbid that I should stretch forth mine hand against the LORD's anointed: but, I pray thee, take thou now the spear that is at his bolster, and the cruse of water, and let us go. 2 Samuel 19:21 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the LORD's anointed? Matthew 18 6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. God is my judge not you Kalos. You attack the Apostolics/UPC/Jesus only or anyone else again and the lockman foundation will be getting a very long letter from me in regards to you. I have tried nicely to ask you people to please not bash religions, that is not what this study forum is for. I have not in anyway bashed you or called you people heretics. Even though I do not agree with what you believe. Most of the time Kalos I do not even take time to respond to you because of your general attitude. However this really struck a nerve, because you don't even know what we believe. Get over it Kalos no one made you a judge. Further more, the trinity of the Godhead is not in the bible from beginning to end it indicates the oneness of God. Revelations 1:8 My God is the beginning and the ending, My God is Alpha and Omega. The first and the Last My God is Jesus. I am not Jesus only I am Jesus EVERYTHING. |

It is found in Isaiah 38 7 And this shall be a sign unto thee from the LORD, that the LORD will do this thing that he hath spoken; 8 Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down |

The argument is important. See 3 God's or 100 it's all idolatry. Deut 6:4 also found in the 10 commandments. This is an important thing. And it does have baring on salvation. See Idolatry is a SIN. So we must worship God in spirit and in TRUTH. (John 4:24)

This is the King James Version. It's really my favorite cause it's just so poetic and flows. but the other versions are good too. Psalm 34 1 I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. 3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. 4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. 5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. 6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. 7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. 8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. 9 O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. 10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing. 11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD. 12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? 13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. 14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. 15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. 16 The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. 17 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. 18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. 20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken. 21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate. 22 The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate. |

14 | Creation of God, Baptism of Jesus Christ | Rev 1:8 | punkiedo | 112994
No one created God. God is a spirit. You can't create a spirit. God has always just been. He is Forever. The bible itself says that he is the beginning and the ending the alpha and omega the first and the last. And as far as Jesus being baptized, Jesus was perfect and sinless. I think this was done for 3 reasons and people may disagree with me but that is their OPINNION. Matthew 3 15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. Ok first of all, I had a real question about this myself, but when you find out the facts it's easy to understand. To be considered a priest in bible days unless born of a certain tribe you had to have some sort of "miraculous" intervention. That is what the Dove and the voice was. Basically a sign saying he was chosen. Second, it was a sign for John. John was the only one that the bible records saw the dove. There were a lot of people that the bible records but only John saw the dove and heard the voice. So it was a sign to John that this is the messiah. Thirdly, I think that it was an example of what we should do. It was a "pre-pentecost" experience. Jesus said Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. When we are baptized in Jesus name the Holy Ghost comes down. (Acts 2:38-39,Acts 8, Acts 10, Acts 19.) |

15 | Isaac - Abraham's "only" son? | Gen 22:2 | punkiedo | 112695
You are right that Abraham had more sons, but God ONLY recognized Isaac. Isaac was Abraham's TRUE son because the promise was made to him and Sarah. Not to him and all those other women. This tells me that when Abraham went and tried to "help" God that he created ENEMIES for his seed. Read the word. Ishmael was one of the most persistant opponents to the Israelites. The promise wasn't for just a son. It was for a son with sarah who had NEVER conceived.

No man knows the day nor the hour when Jesus is coming. But Satan already rules this world. He is the prince of the power of the air. Ephesians 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Satan already works in people through people and rules some people. |

19 | Oneness and the word "person" | 2 Cor 13:14 | punkiedo | 112670
According to this analogy we are right. Jesus said John 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? Jesus was bewildered by the fact that they thought that he was 2 people. I think it probably tickles him to know there are people who think he is 3. John 10 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 30I and my Father are one. 31Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. The jews were going to kill Jesus because he said he was God. So with the previous scriptures we have determined that The father's name is What? JESUS. And of course the son's name is JESUS. But what about the Holy Ghost? John 14 25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. 26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Jesus said the Holy Ghost would come in HIS NAME. So the name of the Holy Ghost is JESUS. Now Let's bring those together shall we. Malachi 2:10 Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers? Mark 12:32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he: Romans 3:30 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. 1 Corinthians 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. WAIT!!! didn't someone just say in Malachi 2:10 That ONE GOD CREATED US? Hmmmm. Would you dare to call Jesus a liar? Didn't think so. Ephesians 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; (Now for the 2 above verses you have to understand something the greek word for "and" is kai (kahee) meaning: even. Both words that tie in God AND mediator or God AND father mean the same thing. EVEN. Also the And that ties AND IN YOU ALL means EVEN. James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. Do you know that when Jesus told people that their sins were forgiven that he almost was stoned because at that point he placed himself as God. Jesus said I LAY MY LIFE DOWN AND I TAKE IT AGAIN. So once again is the bible wrong when it says God raised him from the dead NO!!!!! JESUS WAS GOD. Jesus IS God. and he will forever be God. 1 Timothy 3 15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. 16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. Colossians 2 8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: So if all the fullness of the Godhead dwells in Jesus Christ Bodily. Then how on earth could there be three? Jesus was the FATHER in Creation the SON in Redemption and the HOLY GHOST in Regeneration. Jesus said John 14 16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Jesus Told them that he would pray for the comforter to come. In the same breath he said BUT YE KNOW HIM FOR HE DWELLETH WITH YOU, AND SHALL BE IN YOU. I WILL NOT LEAVE YOU COMFORTLESS: I WILL COME TO YOU. (emphasis added) I don't understand how someone can look at it and see three. I am a woman, a daughter, and a sister. But how many people am I? ONE. I am body, soul and mind. But how many people am I? ONE. |

20 | What is prayer? | 1 Thess 5:17 | punkiedo | 112346
This verse use to confuse me. How could ANYONE pray without ceasing? After I got back in church I understood better what this verse meant. I never really knew how to pray. I still don't pray eloquent prayers like "Oh God hear my prayer..." not that anything is wrong with that, but I have learned to talk to him like he is my BEST friend. Or better yet my husband, which is what the word says Isaiah 54:5 the whole chapter is good but what the Lord told me was that he is my husband, so when I have a decision to make I say "honey what should I do?" even little things. I talk to him and believe or not he talks back to my heart. He is my best friend and the greatest love of my life. My Jesus. My God. Something that helps me is to sit down and pull a chair in front of me. Place the bible open in that chair. And talk to him. Tell him about your day about your life. John 1:1 says that he is the word and the word is Him. So just talk to him. Communication is a two way street and I promise you wont be disappointed.
