1 | What Pentecostal am I? | Bible general Archive 2 | Praise Be To God | 139738
Dear Sugar Kisses O My: From what you say, it would appear to me that you are Assemblies of God. I am Assemblies of God, myself. I have not heard that some believe you must be baptized in the Holy Spirit evidenced by speaking in other tongues in order to be saved. That is not biblical. Speaking in tongues is a GIFT of salvation, not a requirement for it. I would recommend the Assemblies of God to anyone. It is where God brought me when I was first saved and I have been here ever since. EdB gave you some good advice, if you are not sure you want to remain in the Assemblies of God Church, but I would certainly pray about that. It may be that is just where God wants you. Love in Christ, Janae |

3 | Why did Adam eat the apple too? | Gen 3:6 | Praise Be To God | 135601
Gen. 3:17: "And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of they life." The Word of God says it is because he hearkened unto the voice of his wife. Praise Be To God! Janae |

5 | Why didn't God create us without sin? | Gen 3:15 | Praise Be To God | 146381
You gave the right answer. Free will. God gave us free will. We are not His robots. We have the power to choose for ourselves what our destinies will be. God is righteous and holy. He cannot look upon sin. Adam's decision brought sin and death upon the entire human race, but God made a way of escape through the Blood of Jesus. How can your daughter say we are as pieces in a chess game, when we have free will? Janae |

8 | is Melchizedek Jesus | Gen 14:18 | Praise Be To God | 137114
According to the "Full Life Study Bible," Melchizedek (meaning "king of rightousness") was both "king of Salem" (possibly ancient Jerusalem) and "priest of the most high God." He served the one true God as did Abram. Melchizedek was a Canaanite, and thus, like Job, an example of a godly non-Israelite. Melchizedek is a type or figure of the royalty and eternal priesthood of Jesus Christ, i.e. Melchizedek: a type of Christ. Psalm 110:4 is fulfilled in Christ, but Melchizedek is not Christ: "The Lord hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek." Consider also Hebrews 7:1-3: "For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him. 2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace. 3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually." This does not mean that Melchisedec literally had no parents or family or that he was an angel. It simply means that the Scriptures do not record his genealogy and say nothing of his beinning and end. Therefore, he serves as a type of the eternal Christ, whose priesthood will never end (Hebrews 7:24 and 25). Because of Him, Janae. |

9 | Potiphar's Wife | Gen 36:1 | Praise Be To God | 143997
Maybe you could say how she was probably used to getting her own way. Joseph was probably not her first "conquest," but she became obsessed with him because he consistently told her "No". She was probably consumed with "self" and couldn't stand the fact that someone was telling her "No." She probably arranged for the servants to be out of the house that last time she approached Joseph. She was an evil woman, the kind of woman Proverbs warns us about. Yes, it is hard not to turn this into praise for Joseph and his godly actions. Hope this helps. Janae |

10 | Subject for a Christian powerpoint. | Gen 37:2 | Praise Be To God | 136867
Joseph comes to mind initially. All during his entire life, Joseph showed extreme integrity. No matter what happened to him, he would not sin against God. Joseph's life is a series of great events portrayed in scripture. There will be many examples to use for your powerpoint presentation. Hope this helps. Because of Him, Janae |

11 | intercessors and the church | Deut 25:5 | Praise Be To God | 139623
Dear Big O: I am an intercessor in my church. We gather an hour before our Sunday morning service to pray for the service and for the people; we also lay hands on our pastor and pray for him. On Friday mornings we have a prayer meeting to pray for our church and our pastor, but I am unable to attend those prayer meetings because I work. However, on Thursday nights, we have another prayer meeting that I am able to attend. At that meeting we pray for our nation and our president, and the war in Iraq, for example. We allow the Holy Spirit to lead us as to what we pray for. We follow God's agenda. We want our church to be known as a house of prayer. I hope this enlightens you. Love in Christ Jesus, Janae |

13 | Why would anyone feel obligated to tell | 1 Sam 16:2 | Praise Be To God | 139506
I think Samson was enraptured with Delilah, and would have done anything she asked, even to his own demise, which he did. Samson was a womanizer, and I think Delilah used that to her advantage. She seemed to take advantage of people a lot: Judges 16:18: "And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand." Janae |

14 | worship in front of a wooden cross | 2 Kin 18:4 | Praise Be To God | 146087
Our church had a very large wooden cross on the platform for many weeks. Pinned upon this cross were index cards containing the prayers of believers in our church. We, as a congregation, prayed for those prayer needs and I, personally, went up to the cross and touched it as I prayed, as did many others. Not once did it occur to me that I was worshipping the cross. Instead, it made me feel closer to God and closer to those people who had written out their prayer requests. It is ridiculous to think that anyone would be worshipping the cross! That cross is a symbol of why Jesus came to earth, and reminds us why we pray in the first place. To think that someone would be worshipping that cross, you would have to think that your fellow believers are heathenistic pagans from another century! Give people a little credit, won't you? The object of our worship is Jesus Christ, not the cross He died on. And, by the way, our Pastor and his staff prayed daily for weeks at that cross, touching it, and many prayers were answered. 16 | I need to know what is the first fruits | Prov 3:9 | Praise Be To God | 142525
The firstfruits is "the best." It is not "Firstfruits vs. Tithing," FIRSTFRUITS IS TITHING. You give God the first and best 10 per cent of all your increase. You always give God your best; not your leftovers. Also, firstfruits refers to Jesus as being "firstfruits of the dead," being raised to life. (See I Corinthians 15:20). Janae |

18 | Why the spotlight on gays? | Prov 6:16 | Praise Be To God | 142000
It is not hatred for homosexuals, it is hatred of the sin of homosexuality. Satan is trying to destroy families. God ordained the family, and Satan wants to destroy it, and he is doing a pretty good job of it. Families don't even eat together anymore. Making what is an abomination to God the norm, will destroy us and God will judge us. We are no better than Sodom and Gomorrah if we allow homosexuality to become the norm. I, personally, am very distressed and saddened by the whole situation. Satan has again deceived the world with a lie, and look at how many believe it! They say, "What is the harm?" I ask you, how can God continue to bless us, when He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah? Janae. |

19 | Who is "righteous?" | Prov 14:32 | Praise Be To God | 138390
Greetings in Christ, Romans 3:10 says: "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:". When we put on the armour of God, we put on Christ's righteousness, and we are clothed in His righteousness, but our own unrighteousness is like filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6: "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags". Only in Christ can we be righteous, and we are made righteous through Him. All Praise Be Unto God, Janae |
