1 | I HAVE A QUESTION REGARDING THE SABBATH | Bible general Archive 1 | Arnie | 40152
1. In Genesis God made the Sabbath day on the seventh day. Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. KJV 2. Christ kept the Sabbath Day. Christ had to keep the seventh day or He would have been keeping the wrong day. Luke 4:16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. KJV 3. We have records going back to the time of Christ as to the weekly time cycle. Arnie |

2 | Law and Christ vs Law or Christ? | Bible general Archive 1 | Arnie | 48645
Hi, Understanding the difference between "being JUSTIFIED by the Law"(Gal 5:14) and trying to keep the Law because it is holy and just and good, is the key (Rom 7:12). If we could keep the law perfectly then the law could justify us, but being carnal we can't keep the law. We are saved by the grace of God, so do we then show our appreciation by turning our backs on that which God has given us, that which is "Holy, Just and Good? Paul states he "delights in the law" in Romans 7:22. If we decide we no longer have to live by the law, then how do you KNOW what is right and what is wrong? (Rom 3:20)Do you decide what is right or do you let the WORD of God show you through the LAW. Because we are no longer under the penalty of the law do we now sin?(Romans 6:15) LOVE IS THE KEEPING OF THE COMMANDMENTS. 1John 5:3 |

5 | Law or Christ continued? | Bible general Archive 1 | Arnie | 49845
Hi, Is not Christ the Word of God? The law comes from the Word of God, so if you have faith in the Word of God (Christ) you will be keeping the law? You cannot keep the law without faith in the Word of God. It is impossible to do one without the other. Rev 14:12 |

7 | Why does God love the world (us)? | Genesis | Arnie | 58958
Greetings Cynic, The answer is in the fact that the very essense of God is love, just the opposite of natural man. 1 John 4:6-8 6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. 7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for GOD IS LOVE. 8 | Seeing and talking to God vs praying | Deut 4:1 | Arnie | 41820
Chynna, No man has seen or heard the Father. John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. KJV John 5:37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. KJV 1 John 4:12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. KJV Who then did Adam, Moses, Abraham, Jacob, ect see and talk to? The answer is that Jesus Christ was the God of the Old Testament. 1 Cor 10:1-4 1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. KJV God the Father speaks to us today through Jesus Christ, the inspired Word. Heb 1:1-2 1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; KJV I hope I didn't create more questians then I answered. 10 | The race is not given to the swift, nor | Eccl 9:11 | Arnie | 44598
Dear bhw36004, I think your putting two verses together, Ecc 9:11 and Matt 24:13 or Mark 13:13 Matt 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.KJV Mark 13:13 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. KJV It sounds to me like your version certainly is biblical. Not to the swift or to the strong but to him who endures to the end will be saved. Arnie |

11 | Old Testament Law | Jer 7:23 | Arnie | 41112
According to many of Paul's Epistles something has certainly been done away with. I believe several things changed and it happened at the time of Christ being crucified. The sacrificial system with all the offerings and oblations which were added to the law one year after Israel was given the law were done away with. Jer 7:22-23 22 For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices: 23 But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you. KJV This was one thing that was done away. Also the death penalty (for all who sin) was also done away with. In the Old Testament the Ten Commandments were given to Israel and it appears they are still to be kept, These NEW TESTAMENT verses say we need to keep the commandments of God if we claim to be Christ's and seek eternal life. Matt 19:16-17 16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 17 And he said unto him, Why calle/st thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.KJV John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. KJV John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. KJV John 15:10 0 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. KJV 1 John 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. KJV 1 John 2:4 that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. KJV 1 John 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. KJV 1 John 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. KJV 1 John 5:2-3 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. KJV Rev 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. KJV Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. KJV Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.KJV I think we have to be carefull not to throw the baby out with the bath water. 12 | regarding immortal souls | Ezek 18:4 | Arnie | 41066
The human soul is the physical life in him, the same as in cattle or any other animal, i don't think anyone would say cattle have an immortal soul. The term for soul in the verse quoted is "nephesh" the stong's definition is the following: OT:5315 nephesh (neh'-fesh); from OT:5314; properly, a breathing creature, i.e. animal of (abstractly) vitality; used very widely in a literal, accommodated or figurative sense (bodily or mental): KJV - any, appetite, beast, body, breath, creature, X dead (-ly), desire, X [dis-] contented, X fish, ghost, greedy, he, heart (-y), (hath, X jeopardy of) life (X in jeopardy), lust, man, me, mind, mortally, one, own, person, pleasure, (her-, him-, my-, thyself-), them (your)- selves, slay, soul, tablet, they, thing, (X she) will, X would have it. If Matt 24 parallels Rev 6, the "White Horse" is someone coming in the name of Christ and deceiving many. Matt 24:4-5 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. KJV Arnie |

16 | What is special about "logos" (Word)? | John 1:1 | Arnie | 46973
Hank, The Greek philosophers and Jews, (Christians as well) all used the term for their source of Truth. I like Vincents article (New Testament Word Studies) on "logos", he brings to light the term and it's varied uses. John 1:1 After the Babylonish captivity the Jewish doctors combined into one view the theophanies, prophetic revelations and manifestations of Jehovah generally, and united them in one single conception, that of a permanent agent of Jehovah in the sensible world, whom they designated by the name [Memra] ("word," logos (NT:3056)) of Jehovah......... .....But John's doctrine is not Philo's, and does not depend upon it. The differences between the two are pronounced. Though both use the term Logos, they use it with utterly different meanings. In John it signifies "word," as in Holy Scripture generally; in Philo, "reason;" and that so distinctly that when Philo wishes to give it the meaning of word, he adds to it by way of explanation, the term reema (NT:4487), "word." 17 | What's God's "Plan of Salvation"? | John 3:5 | Arnie | 110780

18 | U r saved, can u lose ur salavation? | John 5:24 | Arnie | 41994
Jess, What do you mean when you say "saved" Once you accept Christ do you mean you CANNOT fall back to the ways of the world. The Bible teaches you can. We must endure to the end to be saved. Matt 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.KJV Matt 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. KJV Even Paul said he must keep his body in subjection or he could be a castaway. 1 Cor 9:25-27 25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. 26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: 27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. KJV We are Saved by His death, He paid the penalty for our sins, so we are know reconciled to God the Father. But we are also saved by His life, the latter is like saving money in the bank. He saves us. Rom 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. KJV |

19 | What does John 13:6-10 mean? | John 13:13 | Arnie | 52994
The answer is in John 13:13-17, Christians should have a humble attitude in their relationship with each other. At the time Christ lived His physical existance on earth the custom of foot washing usually was done by the servants of the house, a job that wasn't esteemed very highly by most. Christ washing the disciples feet was a great lesson for us, we should not think to highly of our own selves or our status in this life. Arnie |

20 | Why does this passage not work? | John 14:13 | Arnie | 44595
Dear Chearie, I think "Barnes Commentary" on John 14: 13 explains somewhat; [Whatsoever ye shall ask] This promise referred particularly to the apostles in their work of spreading the gospel; it is, however, true of all Christians, if what they ask is in faith, and according to the will of God, James 1:6; 1 John 5:14. (from Barnes' Notes, Electronic Database. Copyright (c) 1997 by Biblesoft) 1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: KJV James 1:6 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. KJV We can ask in Christ name and to God' glory but is it Gods will, remember Christs prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane asking for the "cup to be removed" if possible, "not my will but thy will be done" I might add that so often we put time frames on what God can do and will do, We see only this temporal setting we live in. Today the blind are seeing and the deaf are hearing. Arnie |
