1 | The right presidential candidate | Bible general Archive 3 | 00123 | 188430
After He (God) had removed him (Saul), He raised up David to be their king, concerning whom He also testified and said, 'I HAVE FOUND DAVID the son of Jesse, A MAN AFTER MY HEART, who will do all My will.' Acts 13:22 I believe participating in the election is a Christian's duty. My question is: In this coming presidential election, which candidate is the right person to vote for from the Biblical perspective? Why? |

3 | How old was Adam when Cain was born? | Genesis | 00123 | 180791
How old was Adam when Cain was born? Some Bible genealogy books and Internet sites say Cain, Adam's first son, was born when Adam was one year old or so. Of course, Adam's apparent age must be of an adult's even one second after being created. And there is no doubt he could be a father from the very beginning of his creation. But I don't crealy see a Biblical evidence from readings that Adam and Cain were one year or so apart in age. Anyone has some insight into this issue? Thank you. |

4 | Birth place of Cain and Abel | Gen 4:1 | 00123 | 188589
Two questions: (1) Were Cain and Abel born in Eden? (2) Did Adam become Cain’s father at age 2? The following is interesting from http://marshallgenealogy.org/bible/index.htm#TOC. 8 | Books for a high-tean girl to read | Deut 6:7 | 00123 | 189081
As a father, I feel obliged to teach my kids well in every field of life. A summer vacation is coming. My 9th grade daughter wants to read books in the summer. She is a bookworm reading many books, but I hope she could develp a Christian worldview and understands every writing from God's point of view through reading. Anyhow, would you recommend books good in content and style for a high-teen girl to read? Any genre (fiction or non-fiction) is welcome. Thank you.
9 | A retrospection on Rev. Falwell | Deut 11:26 | 00123 | 190296
What do you think now of the opinions of Late Rev. Jerry Falwell said regarding the attack on the World Trade Centers? I personally agree with him, who lived his life as a great warrior for the Lord, but Christians' sin is not smaller as a cause of the 9.11 tragedy than the types of sinners he pinpointed, I think. However, I see no sign of reformation or repentance in the American Christianity while it is badly needed. Here is an excerpt from the Washington Post: Friday, September 14, 2001; Page C03 Television evangelists Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson, two of the most prominent voices of the religious right, said liberal civil liberties groups, feminists, homosexuals and abortion rights supporters bear partial responsibility for Tuesday's terrorist attacks because their actions have turned God's anger against America. "God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve," said Falwell, appearing yesterday on the Christian Broadcasting Network's "700 Club," hosted by Robertson. "Jerry, that's my feeling," Robertson responded. "I think we've just seen the antechamber to terror. We haven't even begun to see what they can do to the major population." Falwell said the American Civil Liberties Union has "got to take a lot of blame for this," again winning Robertson's agreement: "Well, yes." Then Falwell broadened his blast to include the federal courts and others who he said were "throwing God out of the public square." He added: "The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way -- all of them who have tried to secularize America -- I point the finger in their face and say, 'You helped this happen.' " People for the American Way transcribed the broadcast and denounced the comments as running directly counter to President Bush's call for national unity. Ralph G. Neas, the liberal group's president, called the remarks "absolutely inappropriate and irresponsible." Robertson and others on the religious right gave critical backing to Bush last year when he was battling for the GOP presidential nomination. A White House official called the remarks "inappropriate" and added, "The president does not share those views." Falwell was unrepentant, saying in an interview that he was "making a theological statement, not a legal statement." "I put all the blame legally and morally on the actions of the terrorist," he said. But he said America's "secular and anti-Christian environment left us open to our Lord's [decision] not to protect. When a nation deserts God and expels God from the culture . . . the result is not good." Robertson was not available for comment, a spokeswoman said. But she released a statement echoing the remarks he made on his show. An ACLU spokeswoman said the group "will not dignify the Falwell-Robertson remarks with a comment." |

10 | How many hours did Israelis march? | Josh 6:15 | 00123 | 241053

11 | Who is that deceiving spirit? | 2 Chr 18:21 | 00123 | 237711
Hello everyone! One spirit of the host of heaven volunteers to be a "deceiving" spirit. Who is that spirit? An angel or a devil? If that is the former, does an angel lie? If the latter, does a devil serve God in the heaven with that capacity? In either way, does God lie or allow His servant to lie? Shalom!

13 | What is wrong with gluttons? | Prov 28:7 | 00123 | 232811
God our Father gives us tips on what kind of friends to make or not to. Proverbs 13:20 Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm. Proverbs 20:19 Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets; therefore do not associate with a simple babbler. Proverbs 22:24 Make no friendship with a man given to anger, nor go with a wrathful man. Proverbs 23:20 Be not among drunkards or among gluttonous eaters of meat. Proverbs 24:21 My son, fear the LORD and the king, and do not join with those who do otherwise. Proverbs 29:3 He who loves wisdom makes his father glad, but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth. But then, He advises us not to make friend with gluttons. Proverbs 28:7 The one who keeps the law is a son with understanding, but a companion of gluttons shames his father. Statistics shows that today 78 million American adults (children excluded) are obese (e.g., A 5-feet-5 man is obese if the weight is over 180 lbs; severely obese with 240 lbs). So, being away from gluttons is a practically very serious issue. What is wrong with gluttons (who naturally end up as obese persons, not necessarily vice versa by genetic reason or illness)? Why does Our Father keep us from making friends with gluttons? |

14 | Wasn't yesterday better than today? | Eccl 7:10 | 00123 | 232789
The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the LORD regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart. So the LORD said, “I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them.” (Genesis 6:5-7 ESV) They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.” For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. (2 Peter 3:4-7 ESV) Noah's flood came when man's sins were great in God's eyes and God couldn't tolerate any more. Man's sins were ever increasing until the flood, and the world was getting ever worse each day from perspective of holiness. Likewise, man's sins, today, are getting worse and worse, which calls for God's ultimate punishment. When man's sins reach the peak where they couldn't be worse, mankind will see God's judgment. So, each day we approach the last moment of the earth, doesn't it make sense to say the former days were better than these days? |

18 | Where is the Kingdom of Heaven? | Matt 3:2 | 00123 | 226871
Where is the Kingdom of Heaven? (Question 1) Did Jesus refer to the heaven where our heavenly father resides or the new earth that is the changed form of the current earth? (Question 2) By the way, in a Christian funeral, we say the dead person is with the Lord now. If that is the case, why does the Bible say the dead are asleep, waiting for resurrection? If s/he is already with the Lord, why does s/he need any resurrection? Thank you for your answers in advance.
19 | The true Gospel Jesus proclaimed | Matt 4:23 | 00123 | 224502
Dear fellow Christians, When we see the four books of Gospel, the good news of the Kingdom of Heaven (or Kingdom of God) Jesus Messiah proclaimed emphasizes not only believing in Jesus but “mainly” the obedience to God’s Word. The modern Protestant church is stuck to justification by faith but ignores sanctification not necessarily theoretically but practically. This tradition produces more nominal Christians, hindering growth in true religion. We hear but do not practice or obey God’s Word. Do you agree with me that the Gospel Jesus preached was to urge us to live a life obeying God’s Word rather than to merely accept Jesus as the Savior? |

20 | Did people call "our Father" in prayer? | Matt 6:9 | 00123 | 189967
Following the Lord's Prayer, we start our prayer by calling "our Father" first. (Question 1) But I wonder if people in fact called God "our Father" in their prayer either in the OT or NT. (Question 2) If not, what name did they call? Thank you for your reply.
