1 | What pastor or church can be trusted | 1 Sam 3:1 | Shell | 27124
I listen to Joyce Meyer every morning on our Christian tv network, now I am hearing and reading some things about her that I don't like. I loved Jimmy Swaggert, and look how that ended up. I really like John Hagee and so far have heard nothing bad about him. But I am beginning to believe that I should only ready my bible and not listen to ANY PASTORS because every time I find one I like, here comes something about them that may or may not be wrong. Why is that???We try to do right, read our Bibles, try to live the way God wants us to and go to chruch, and bang, you find out something negative about the church or preacher or someone in the church. WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO AND WHERE ARE WE SUPPOSED TO GET TEACHING AND FROM WHAT PASTOR OR CHURCH???? This is getting really silly and can be harmful. Would like your thoughts on this. Thanks, Shell

Scripture ... Acts 17:14, Eph 4:11-13 ... Shell, It is harmful if we continue to listen to error. It is not silly to want to listen to only the truth. We do need a pastor to help us grow. I doubt there is a pastor who is perfect in their teaching. We do need to take what they teach and study beyond. We could find something in the Bible that we think makes their teaching wrong or fall. We need to ask them about what we read ad heard. They should be able to explain the differences. If they are wrong, they should be willing to admit it. My pastor, and others even urge us to bring to them these differences we find. Study Scripture and when you hear error, you'll know it right away. Just like bank tellers can tell the bogus bills ... because they studied the real stuff. I hope this helps, Searcher (Steve) |

This morning we had a thought that a home- or internet-based study or discussion group could be an excellent way for believers to communicate- with or without a structure, pews or preachers. Should everyone be a good preacher- or a good example in their life? Jesus seems to inspire where others- kings, philosophers and TV personalities- seem to fail. There are parables and truths in the Bible which have meanings for each person- including priests. Maybe this is the reason the Bible has universal appeal while TV ministers only have a large TV audience. This forum is new to us and interesting.

We still need a preacher (Eph 4:11-13), yet I think we also need to live the message.
