Bible Note: Hello Millenious! For a Bible believing, "well grounded" and well studied Christian (like many here on the Forum), Joyce Meyer's statement will not have a whole lot of effect, because we would dismiss such nonsense and either confront her with it or forget about it. But the problem is is that not everyone who claims to be a Christian knows their Bible inside and out, and is as studious in it as they should be! Therefore, those who are a little "weaker" in faith may be led astray by such teachings like this. And if such a teaching comes from a teacher like Joyce Meyer who has a large following and a far reaching influence (thanks to television), then this type of interpretation would also say volumes about the teacher as well, and of the theology that she may also impute to other areas of the Bible; reaching a conclusion in other areas that may be "suspect" as well. So this is the reason that I find it "dangerous" to put much stock into Joyce Meyer, or any other teacher whose Biblical interpretations are clearly in error when we closely examine the Scriptures. Blessings to you, Nolan |
