1 | Is 1 Sam 2:10 b prophecy? | 1 Sam 2:10 | GodsWord4me | 65604
Is Hannah's acclamation in 2:10 (part b) a prophecy for the comming of a king of Israel? At this point in history, Israel was ruled by judges and priests. It was not until her son (Samuel) was in old age that the people asked for: "a king to rule over us, as other countries have." If this is prophecy of a comming king, is it referring to Saul, David, or the Messiah?
2 | Is 1 Sam 2:10 b prophecy? | 1 Sam 2:10 | Emmaus | 65605
GodsWord4me, See Psalm 98:9. I think that part of Hannah's song is prophetic. But many prophecies have more than one level of fulfillment. So it could refer to David as well as the Davidic Messiah, Jesus. It is also interesting to see how much of Hannah's whole song is echoed in Mary's canticle, the Magnificat, found in Luke 1:46-55. Amen Emmaus: I love these words "And Mary said, My soul doth magnifiy the Lord. And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior" Luke 1: 46-47 Mary was aware of the scriptures which prophecied of the Son which she would bear and his name is Jesus. Amen! |
