1 | Is God capable of hating? | 1 Sam 15:3 | 5pointer | 62426
God is a God of love, but is he also a God of hate? I ask this because of 1 Sam. 15:3. It says, " now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey." God's commandment to Saul to kill the infants and nursing children seems like a lack of love, but I have always been taught that God loves everyone(John 3:16). This seems very contradicting. Can someone please explain?

Hello 5pointer Adding to EdB's comments: Psalm 5:5 (ESV) The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers. Psalm 11:5 (ESV) The Lord tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence. God hates and deals with the unrighteousness that comes from these sinners. Steve |
