1 | Praying to Jesus in Jesus' name? | NT general | CDBJ | 222019 | ||
Greetings Nextman and welcome to the forum. We are only to pray to the Father as Jesus commanded in the model prayer. Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. So in essence we pray to the Father in the power of the Holy Spirit and in the name of the Son. I hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

Only? Are you sure? That is quite an incredible and new point of view to me. The model prayer is of course the best prayer and an example for all time, but i'm not sure it is supposed to contain all possible forms of prayer. I also found 2 verses, where it seems to me that there is prayer to Jesus. "He who testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly: Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus." Rev 22:20 "And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;" 1 Ti 1:12 Also whenever i read the Bible, I thought that the form of reference to God, as 'LORD' meant Jesus Christ. And there are a lot of prayers to the 'Lord' in the Bible. |

Nextman, I am very fond of John Piper's answer to this question. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v(equals)VMp5DFsuOTs Make sure you convert the (equals) to an actual equal sign, the forum won't accept that simbol. In Christ, Beja |
