Bible Question:
when I pray I like to pray in Jesus' name. That gives me the right, the authority and courage to pray to the eternal God. I also like to pray personally to Jesus, since he is my saviour, and mediator to God. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;" But does it make sense to pray to Jesus in Jesus' name? So that i would pray to my mediator by the authority he had given to me? In my earthly life i certainly would be surprised, if someone would ask something from me, and in my name. I would smile on that. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Nextman and welcome to the forum. We are only to pray to the Father as Jesus commanded in the model prayer. Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. So in essence we pray to the Father in the power of the Holy Spirit and in the name of the Son.
